The streets of Aldera were alight with rumor before midday had even struck. An announcement of utmost importance was to be made this afternoon by the ruling House Organa. The people were only notified the morning of, and given the movement to and from the Royal Palace, this announcement promised to be as big as they stressed. With the tension coiled around Alderaan as of late, there was no telling what may come.
Whatever predictions the people did make paled in comparison to the truth.
"Good afternoon, people of Alderaan." Queen Amani Serys-Organa began, standing out on the dais in the center of the royal plaza. Her children, Prince August and Princess Liana, stood on either side of her. All three were adorned in regalia befitting their stations.
"I wanted to start by telling you, all of you, how grateful I am for your continued support and trust in myself as your Queen, and in House Organa itself. I feel it every day, and it has carried me through many a hardship. But I have not said it enough. The grace you have lended me has been no small token.
But I do not ask your attention today to talk about me. I ask your attention, because today will be remembered as a day of triumph. A day of hope. And a day of celebration. One in which we can all share."
Queen Amani breathed sharply, the shake in her vocal cords picking up on the microphone, "So without further ado, I'd like to ask for your help in welcoming the return of...
King
Alicio
Organa!"
Alicio
Organa!"
A figure stepped up to the lectern, dressed in trademark blacks and blues (though rattier than he was used to wearing in public). His familiar face was thinner, and haggard, but behind it were grey eyes that gleamed like sunlight peeking through a storm cloud. The King had returned worse for wear… but he had returned nonetheless. Alderaan's chosen son.
The crowd was instantly swept into a frenzy. Confused and astonished murmurs mixed with cheers or whistles heralded Alicio's emergence. He shared a long embrace with his family, and then finally stepped forward where Amani had previously stood. He cleared his throat, "People of Alderaan, I am grateful to be here today. In the months that I was gone, I wasn't sure that I would make it back home. Thanks to the heroic efforts of the Alderaanian military and my Queen, I have returned alive, though not unchanged by my time away." He looked out at the gathered crowd, the faces stunned and awestruck by his sudden reappearance. "I know you have many questions. They will all be answered in due time. For now I want you to know that I am here, and that I will resume my reign over Alderaan as your King. I will not abandon you in your time of need."
He stepped back, content to leave his statement there for now. A promise of details to come, and a promise to continue his work. But for now, Alicio needed rest and recuperation after his long and no doubt eventful journey. Amani stepped forward again, "In celebration of my husband's return, we have decided to organize a royal parade in Aldera later this week. We hope you all will join us in the festivities. This is a glorious day not just for House Organa, but for all the people of Alderaan. Thank you all for your understanding, and your continued support." The royal family then stepped away into a speeder, taking off toward the mountains.
Please join us in celebrating the return of King "Alicio Organa" .
