MISSIVE:
Master,
I wish I could say this message brings positive news, but it would be irresponsible of me not to reach out after learning of a troubling rumour.
As you know, I come from a corporate background. In business, one maximises success by diversifying investments rather than committing everything to a single venture. Since becoming a Jedi Knight, I have tried to apply that same principle of perspective and caution to my duties. Recently, however, I heard concerning reports regarding Lorn Reingard.
I do not yet have many details, and there are still more questions than answers, but my understanding is that there is growing interest in taking the fight directly to the Sith Covenant and the Sith Order. According to my contact, no actions have been taken, and no statements have been made that could reasonably be considered treason against the Jedi Order, only strongly held opinions. Even so, I am concerned.
Before I met you, I often took issue with Jedi who seemed too quick to judge, too eager to act, and unwilling to consider alternatives. When someone becomes wholly devoted to a cause, they can lose sight of the effect it has on themselves and those around them. I know this because I spent much of my youth outside the Order, convinced that fighting was the best way I could serve the galaxy. I was mistaken. Because of that experience, I fear the harm such a path could bring to the Order if pursued.
Given your position and that of your fellow members of the High Council, I am certain you know far more than I do. I write not only out of concern for the Order, but also because of your relationship with Lorn.
You have guided me, helped me grow, and tempered much of the immaturity that once shaped my view of the galaxy and its people. Through your teaching, trust, confidence, and friendship, I have become a better Jedi and a better person. Because of that, I worry for you. If these reports are true, I can only imagine the burden they may place upon you.
Please know that I remain at your service, whether by duty or personal request.
Finally, I must formally ask that my apprentice be kept unaware of this matter for as long as possible. I do not want Cerys influenced by these developments, should she learn of this growing movement. Neither she nor I intend to involve ourselves in such an endeavour. We will remain on Naboo at the Council's direction until she is ready to return to active service.
The Force be with you, Ala.
Respectfully,
Jedi Knight, Balun Dashiell
