OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Age: Unknown; probably at least a few centuries old
  • Force Sensitivity: Master
  • Species: Lesser Sanguinius Vampirika
  • Appearance: A male vampire of below average height (around 5"6') with a lean physique, Byron has pale skin, curly black hair, pointed ears, gray eyes that seem to glow in the dark, and sharp teeth. He looks about nineteen; for his species, he is considered a young man. His clothing is strange and eclectic in style: part dark sorcerer, part space cowboy, part flamboyant nobleman.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Byron Devorak
  • Loyalties: Han Werdegast
  • Wealth: Funds are provided as needed by Werdegast.
  • Notable Possessions:
  • Skills: Byron is a bocor, a sorcerer class native to Dahrtag which specializes in raising the dead and controlling the weak-willed. He performs a variety of jobs required of him by his employer, including killing and/or enthralling targets. He is very knowledgeable of forensics and can even pose as a criminal investigator (complete with false credentials) if it will aid him in avoiding detection and disposing of incriminating evidence. Amusingly for a bloodsucker, he is also a pretty good cook.
  • Languages:
    • Basic (fluent)
    • Old Dahrtagian (fluent)
    • Huttese (fluent)
    • Smatterings of a few other languages
  • Personality: After every completed job, Werdegast will offer Byron a reward, asking him what he would like. Byron always replies, "Nothing, my lord." By all accounts, Byron is unwaveringly loyal and harbors no ambitions whatsoever—highly unusual for a young vampire, especially one with the added advantage of Force sensitivity. Some claim he is pulling strings behind the scenes, but Byron is quick to snuff out such gossip, steadfastly proclaiming his servitude. His motives for this are not so enigmatic; he is in a much more comfortable (and less dangerous) position as a servant than as a lord. It also makes Werdegast value him as among the most trustworthy of his servants. Another trait which his employer favors is his bluntness—when it comes to giving his opinion, Byron always expresses his biases and prejudices with brutal honesty.
COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Weapon of Choice: The Force | Pistol | Vibroknife | Hands & Teeth
  • Combat Function: Apart from using the Force, Byron is adept at close-quarters combat, with a preference for small arms such as pistols, knives and daggers, or even his bare hands and fangs. He is a master of the silent, undetectable takedown, and can utilize the environment to his advantage. On the battlefield his skills would be largely useless, but then he is unlikely to venture into a warzone.
  • Force Abilities (Force Users Only):
Strengths:
  • Possesses all of the strengths of a Lesser Sanguinius Vampirika... but in a slightly weaker form.
  • Voodoo Sorcerer: Byron is a bocor, a Dahrtagian sorcerer with the power to raise the dead and enthrall the weak-willed. With centuries of experience, he is quite skilled and powerful in the Force.
  • Child of Midvinter: Byron has an extremely high tolerance to cold even compared to other cold-blooded vampires, perhaps hinting at Aelvar ancestry.
Weaknesses:
  • Possesses all the weaknesses of a Lesser Sanguinius Vampirika... with greater vulnerability than usual.
  • Force Null: Anything with a Force nullifying effect, such as ysalamiri, void stone, or nullification resin, will strip Byron of his sorcery, forcing him to rely on his other skills.
  • Glass Cannon: While he is quick and nimble, compared to other Vampirika he is not particularly strong. He could still overpower an ordinary Human, but against another vampire it would be a struggle.
  • Ethnocentrist: While he generally views his own kind as superior to other types of vampire, Byron loathes Sangnir in particular, seeing them as worthless parasites whose inability to control their bloodlust gives the rest of them a bad name. He has never met a Sangnir who wasn't a complete degenerate, and expects all future encounters with them to be the same, so he is more likely to become hostile toward them at the slightest provocation (or no provocation at all, depending on the circumstances).
  • Technologically Challenged: It isn't so much that he's incapable of adapting with the times as he is simply stubborn and easily frustrated by new and/or complicated technology. "Why do they keep changing things when the old stuff works perfectly fine?" is a common complaint from him. A less-than-user-friendly datapad or Holonet site can quickly become a stumbling block. Slicing is out of the question.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Byron Devorak was born the lovechild of two Lesser Sanguinius Vampirika. Such unions are discouraged or even forbidden, as their offspring will be an even weaker breed of vampire than its parents, more vulnerable to their weaknesses and possessing diluted versions of their strengths. Luckily, he was also born Force Sensitive—a fact which saved him from death. His parents were executed for breaking the laws of the Greater House they served, and young Byron was placed in their care. They provided their budding young sorcerer with a tutor to teach him the ways of the bocor.

Alas, House Devorak was terminably old-fashioned and didn't see the value of keeping good relations with their fellow Greater Houses. They made many enemies, and eventually their rivals came to collect. Still only a boy, Byron fled the carnage, vanishing into the Dahrtagian wilderness. When he re-emerged half a century later, he had grown up. Identified by his famous Cloak of Many Colors, he quickly chose a new lord to serve: Han Werdegast.

Byron has been at his lord's side for centuries, witnessing his rise to power and prestige and sharing in its bounties. He never asked for more than he was given, never expressed any ambition beyond the glory of his master's house. After so many years of loyalty and devotion, Werdegast wishes to reward his most faithful servant. What form that reward will take remains to be seen. And if there's anything that can make Byron Devorak nervous, it's not knowing what "gift" will be bestowed upon him...

Having looked at the sub for his species, I am confused as to what you mean. Lesser Sanguinius Vampirika are not a completely Force Sensitive species. If you are referring to the Aelvar, that was intended to be a possible source of his ancestry rather than definite fact. I can edit the language of the sub to reflect that.

No it’s not a new policy. It’s something most codex judges ask for and have for years. Regardless we don’t judge based on precedent.

Edit: it’s not a hard and fast rule and I likely confused species and NPC looking at my original post. I’ll chat with Srina…
