- Skills: Zhar is a scholar with a keen and inquisitive mind. He specializes in galactic history and possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of major events and historical figures going back roughly five thousand years. He dabbles in archaeology, but is mainly a conservationist, dedicating his time to the preservation and study of artifacts rather than locating them amid tombs and ruins.

- Personality: Zhar is a friendly and charming person. Utterly lacking in vanity (and rather disappointed whenever people are drawn to him only because of his looks), his humility is his biggest attraction. He seemingly has no ego to bruise. Like many Pylantians, he is non-confrontational and ill-equipped to deal with conflict. In his neverending quest to avoid other people's drama at all cost, he often eschews the company of other sentients in favor of vibing with nature. He is a kind and compassionate individual who simply seeks to do no harm. A diligent worker with a good sense of humor, the fact that he was almost a Jedi Knight doesn't bother him one bit. He never really wanted that life for himself, and is happy where he is.

- Combat Function: Zhar is a competent fighter with training in the use of both ranged and melee weapons as well as martial arts, though he is somewhat out of practice. His physical fitness, size and strength work to his advantage in that he can hit hard. He also sort of knows how to use a lightsaber, but in his own words "that would be inadvisable".
- Force Abilities (Force Users Only): Having never progressed beyond the level of Jedi Youngling, Zhar's abilities include limited precognition (also known as danger sense), basic telekinesis, and heightened reflexes. He may be capable of other abilities, but he can't use them on the fly or in combat, requiring meditation and considerable concentration to perform.
- History Buff: With his deep knowledge of history and love for learning, Zhar is just the kind of big nerd you want while studying for your test... or covertly examining a mysterious new artifact.
- Physical Strength: Zhar is a big guy and strong as an ox. Sometimes his physicality is imposing enough to deter conflict.
- Hunk of Hunks: Male Pylantians are widely considered to be physically attractive. Zhar is no different, though this is typically a passive trait and not something he will actively try to take advantage of.
- Harmonious Existence: Pylantians have not evolved to compete with their own kind for resources. Zhar is peaceful and cooperative by nature, and generally works well with others. Having no ego to bruise, it is nearly impossible to offend or provoke him to unnecessary violence.
- Noncompetitive: Due to their lack of a competitive drive, Pylantians are mentally ill-suited for the violent conflicts that plague the galaxy. Zhar is often at a disadvantage when attacked or confronted, and can find it difficult to navigate tense social situations.
- Failure Is Not the End: For the most part, Zhar is happy where he is. But he still must deal with the drawbacks and stigma associated with being a "washout" who failed to pass his Trials and become a Jedi.
Born on Pylos Satnik, Zhar Cthylla was the eldest of three children born to the Jedi Knights Oukranos and Kassogtha Cthylla. After his birth his parents brought him back to the Silver Rest on Kashyyyk, where he and his siblings were raised. He attended school there and played with the other younglings. It was there that he developed a love for animals and the natural world; he would regularly wander the woods of Kashyyyk, collecting specimens for study or simply observing the wildlife.
As he was born Force Sensitive, it was expected that Zhar would become a Jedi like his parents. However, as he grew older he began to flag behind the other students of the Silver Jedi, struggling to progress beyond basic training. Eventually it was determined that his connection to the Force was weaker than what was initially presumed. The career of a Jedi Knight was no longer a possibility for him.
Zhar would recall that his parents were more devastated by the news than he was. He actually felt relieved, as the life of a Jedi Knight no longer appealed to him. The young Pylantian had no desire to become involved in the galaxy-spanning conflicts the Jedi so often found themselves in the middle of. Instead, he wanted a peaceful and quiet life devoted to study and scholarship. In his teens, he made the decision to join the EduCorps, entering a line of work similar to that of his librarian mother...
