Ysalamir Bubble PCs?

Story time. Here goes.

So, Monica has discovered a group of Force Sensitive tribals, the Dubrana, natives to the moons of Delta IV, who can create Force Neutral Bubbles similar to the Ysalamir lizards of Myrkr. Boom. Huge. Such Wow. Such Umph.

Also similar, it turns out this ability was an evolutionary change in their Adepts at copping with the native predators of their planets. A large hyena-like Sithspawn that can hunt and poison an Adept with it's diabolical fang venom. A venom which kills faster and faster according to the Adepts own strength of Force Sensitivity. The stronger you are in the Force? The faster the poison kills you.

Naturally, one of the best immunities to this venom, (and being hunted by Sithspawn itself,) came the same way it did for the lizards of Myrkr. You suppress the Force. You suppress the venom. You survive.

Bear with me here. It gets weirder.

Legend has it that a revered mother of one of the great clans poisoned herself on purpose in order to find a cure for her priests. Then, she entered a Force Trance in order to combat the poison inside her directly. But rather than curing the poison she discovered that if she could make the Force around inside her dormant, so too would the poison remain dormant also.

(Think Dune after Jessica drinks the spice water. Or Grey Wardens who drink Darkspawn blood.)

Unable to summon enough Lightside power to Sever Force, she used the Darkside power of the poison itself to create a Force Neutral bubble instead. Then, she taught that technique to her priests. Effectively causing the deadly poison of the Sithspawn to become dormant inside them. Indeed. The bubble ability is as permanent as the poison is inside of them. The side effects being that you get to stay alive AND that you are effectively causing your own Force talents to become dormant as well too. The stronger your Force Potential? The larger the bubble your body produces naturally.

Naturally Monica was fascinated with this discovery and pondered outwardly upon how this nasty little blood ritual could change the powers of the galaxy forever.

That change being, that now Force User PCs can trade their powers in permanently for the ability to produce a Ysalamir bubble. And, should they ever gain their sensitivities back? The Sithspawn poison inside them that they were using to create the bubble in the first place, kills them. :p

Feedback and discussion time, :D

  • Q: How big should the bubble be? (PvP concern)
  • Q: How would the dormant Sith poison effect the natural body, bubble aside? (New character weaknesses maybe?)
  • Q: Is this all just too much? (Because lulz)

Like, copping a feel or what?

How long did it take you to come up with all that? That's a pretty good imagination you've got.

Did you know that Superman's invincibility stems not from his own body's toughness, but because of a bubble just barely bigger than his skin itself? This is what (most of the time) prevents his suit from getting damaged, but his cape gets torn to shreds constantly, which Martha remarks upon when he comes back needing her to do a stitch job.

I'm thinking just above the skin would be good; more like a Force Dead character.

Well, anything Sith related should be a corrupting influence. Maybe age at twice the speed? Maybe there should be a corruption factor that gradually affects the person physically, like Red Templars in DA: Inquisition?
