- Dual-phase setting: Unlike most lightsabers, this one is capable of adjusting the length and width of the blade. This works in both directions, being able to make the blade shorter and more agile, while also able to make the blade longer and more spear-like.
- Split blade: Through twisting the middle of the blade, the lightsaber can pull apart into two separate blades. It loses it’s ability to dual-phase switch when split apart.
- Pressure pads: Unless triggered via the internal switch, the lightsaber will automatically deactivate if the pressure pads are not depressed.
- Internal switch: Although the lightsaber has an activation switch on the hilt, there is a second activation switch inside of the lightsaber that can only be reached and triggered via the Force.
- Unique color: through a combination of a cracked Kyber crystal, and the dual Krayt Dragon Pearls, the blades of this lightsaber are a combination of an orange outer blade and a darker, almost black inner blade. The inner blade becomes lighter and darker as the blade is extended and shortened, respectively.
- Lightsaber Blade: As with all lightsabers, this blade is capable of cutting through most materials in the galaxy with relative ease.
- Detached Hilt: Although this is a saberstaff, the center of the weapon is able to detach and form two separate lightsabers, each one powered by it's own set of crystals. This means that slicing the blade in half will not actually damage the functions of the blade, save for cutting the mechanism that allows the blade to snap together.
- Cortosis weakness: Like any lightsaber, the blade coming into contact with Cortosis will immediately make the blades disintegrate and may even damage the crystal.
- Not Waterproof: Unlike her last lightsaber, this new saberstaff is not coated in the same waterproof material, and therefore cannot be used underwater.
- Resistant armors: Phrik and Beskar lightsabers will prove much harder to damage or cut through with this lightsaber.
Xobos’s original saberstaff, presented to her as a gift from her master, lasted the apprentice quite a long while. Throughout the battles of Taanab and Ryloth, with plenty of training and missions spread between, the blade allowed Xobos to become as powerful as she was. Unfortunately, when no other solution was in sight, she was forced to sacrifice one half of her original hilt to defeat a large group of energy spiders. While she was able to recover the crystals within, everything else was destroyed, forcing to her to carry just one blade for quite a while.
Once settled into her new position as Sieur of the Garde Noire, the time came for her to create her new lightsabers. With her new position as an Illyrian knight, she was granted access to multiple materials that were not open to her when creating her original hilt. She kept the original split blade design, while also creating a hilt that fell in much better with the dedicant lifestyle of one of the most revered positions on Illyria. Before finishing the blade, however, a trip to Tatooine was necessary, where Xobos killed a Krayt Dragon and retrieved the peals sitting in it’s stomach.
From there, it was as simple as completing and putting together the blade, and Xobos now found herself with a complete set of weaponry once again.
