- Powerful Armament: The Xim-class is bolstered by a wide menagerie of weapon systems and gun emplacements, making it a very powerful and very lethal warship.
- Extensive Defenses: Powerful shields, a reinforced hull, and other onboard systems make the Xim-class a tough nut to crack, and combined with its armament makes it a daunting challenge to overcome.
- Independent Operator: The Xim-class is capable of operating on long-term assignments without need for regular resupply, and thus does not need additional ships for logistical support. It does, however, need to be resupplied every six months, and must be given yearly servicing, with potential refits every five years.
- Command Vessel: The extensive sensor and targeting suites make the Xim-class ideal for hunting down enemy targets and eliminating them, but also for serving as the centre of any effective battle fleet, able to monitor large-scale engagements and co-ordinate allied efforts from the safety of the heavily-armoured vessel.
- Rear Blind Spot: Like many warships of the angular Imperial design, the Xim-class cannot fire on any ship directly behind it.
- Bridge Tower: The Xim-class' bridge tower serves as a glaring target for enemy vessels.
- No Hangar: Unlike other warships and battlecruisers its size, the Xim-class is bereft of a hangar bay in a similar manner to the smaller Ascendant and Xer class Star Destroyers. Carrier escorts are a necessity if the prospect of fighter opposition becomes likely.
The relationship between the Tion Cluster and the Empires of the Sith have always been one of mutual cooperation, pro-Imperial sentiments running rampant throughout the territory of the Tionese. When the Old Empire fell and the Silver Jedi occupied the Eastern Territories, the Tionese were forced to silence their most vocal Imperialist sympathies in order to avoid persecution at the hands of the Jedi and their armies. Yet, even under the yoke of the Jedi did not diminish their loyalty.
When the Silver Jedi were forced from the region, the Tionese rejoiced at being finally liberated from those who openly derided their Tionese Laws and Tionese Ways. It made natural sense to then seek a renewed alliance with the nascent Sith Empire that had driven them off, and so the representatives of the Santhe and Sienar families met with the Dark Lord of the Sith to secure an alliance.
In return the Empire helped design and construct a series of Star Destroyers that would exclusively guard and patrol the Tion Cluster against pirates, brigands, and Jedi sympathizers alike. The first of these warships was theXim-class Star Battlecruiser, named after the ancient Tionese hero and conqueror Xim the Despot.
The battlecruiser that held his namesake proved to be just as ferocious as that ancient conqueror, bristling with weapons along its angular hull and capable of bringing great death and destruction to those who would raise a hand against the interests of the Tionese and the Empire.
