TECHNICAL INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Adaptable
  • Portable
  • Tech Savvy
Strengths:
  • Adaptable -
    • The Xayinas-class Slicer Droid is an amalgamation of all sorts of security countermeasures and processors. Boasting twin processors, the heuristic and positronic, the Xayinas learns rapidly and is immediately able to put those new slicing skills to use.
  • Portable -
    • A small, sleek frame allows this droid to be very portable. Fielding magnetic underside locks, the typical home for these little bots rests on the backplate of most armor systems. Sturdy and durable, they can remain there even during combat engagements without so much as a wiggle.
  • Tech Savvy -
    • Built with a number of tools from Aegis Systems, the Xayinas Class Utility Droid is able to dominate most electronic systems. From its numerous processors, onboard microcomputer, to even the various Scomp Link hookups utilized in its design, there is no limit to the degree or amount of computers it could properly hack. This passes over to any electronically reinforced security systems, many vehicles and cavalry means, and unknown number of situational systems should it ever face them.
  • Tunnel -
    • The TunnelNet VPN provides all applicable users with a facet to access the greater HoloNet. Using tunneling protocols to bypass censorship laws and encryption to prevent unauthorized viewing and alteration of data, the TunnelNet offers ample protection and peace of mind to all of its users.
  • Community-based Protection -
    • Once a single SH13LD that's connected to the HoloNet thwarts a threat, that data is processed by the network ops and security center operated by Aegis Systems, turned into an update or hot fix, and is then distributed to all connected users.
Weaknesses:
  • Low Battery Life -
    • Meant to charge on the fly, the droid has a serious issue with its battery life. Multiple uses, prolonged operations, and anything that's tactically prolonged are the bane of this droid’s existence, forcing it to redock with the user’s armor and fast charge until ready to be used again. Because of the numerous systems that run, including the repulsor lifts, standard operation time is reduced to just an hour before dying, though that is at full use. This can often cause situations of duress if a system proves too complicated, or worse; heavily defended.
  • Low Range -
    • With much of its memory stored on the armor system instead of the droid itself, there is a operational limit to where it can go. Just a few meters from the base armor restricts the droid to nothing more than a guardian angel rather than an entire force multiplier; and even then its main utility is slicing and computer related programs.
  • EMP Weakness -
    • As any electronically heavy creation could attest, EMP and Ion related damage is fully able to destroy, incapacitate, or completely knock out of commission any poor sap that gets caught in the electrical crosswinds. This too applies to the Xayinas, as even the faintest disruption of its many sensitive systems would lead to immediate breakdown, which is nigh impossible to fix on the field.
  • Kinetic Weaponry -
    • With moderate ability to defend itself from a stray round or two from a blaster, the droid itself is at the mercy of any kinetic based weaponry. From slug throwers to magnetically driven projectiles, any round with weight behind it could easily pierce and destroy the thin armor, if not damage the repulsor lift engines from sheer inertia.
  • Jamming -
    • Just because someone can't view or access your data doesn't mean they can't deny your access to it. The TunnelNet will have absolutely no effect on comlink or communications jammers of any kind.
  • Latency -
    • Due to the extra hoops and bounds the TunnelNet has to get through, there's oftentimes some degradation of network performance. Comlink applications might have messages sent or received a few seconds later, streaming videos may take longer, etc. More often than not, this is just a minor inconvenience but its uses in law enforcement and the military can have dire consequences.
  • Definitions/Uplink -
    • While there's an option to actually download the signature-based detection engine, the SH13LD loses an immense part of its detection and removal functions. Without a HoloNet uplink to utilize the heuristic-based engine and updated signatures, the host system becomes susceptible to more zero day threats.

DESCRIPTION

So it has become, the Xayinas Class Utility Droid is the next step in battlefield equipment. From every war across the galaxy, there has never been such a droid so capable as to make any soldier an expert in electronic warfare and infiltration; yet here it has become so, in the designs of Jaeger Solutions and Aegis Systems. With every piece, every portion of the droid meticulously planned out and designed for perfection, there is very little the prodigal son can not achieve with its user’s support.
To begin, the primary focus of the device is its ability to provide technical support for any user in the field. The frame of the droid is entirely composed of dura-armor and durasteel to provide a rugged sense of durability for this little bot. Boasting powerful dual processors in the form of heuristic and positronic variants, the Xayinas-class supports the staple internal designs of Aegis Systems. Capable of learning on the fly very rapidly and immediately applying those skills, this droid is unique in its ability to adapt and overcome. Working in tandem with these powerhouses is a Gabonna memory crystal storage unit, able to support massive amounts of processing power and store an equally sizeable quantity of raw data and information.
The other internal components are a plethora of anti-security devices and various security countermeasures. Possessing an integrated microcomputer, scomp links, and a comprehensive sensor package to remain vigilant against a multitude of threats. Each of these components works in sync with one another, giving the droid an awesome capability to provide exceptional utility skills to any soldier or security operator a technological advantage in various situations. Atop these generic internal systems comes with the staple Aegis Systems products: the Aegis SH13LD anti-malware software and a virtual private network for secure communications.
In operations, the droid is mounted not alongside the soldier but in a small charging port entirely dedicated to the droid itself. Usually placed on the small of the back, the system allows for it to charge and reload any ammunition used before being deployed again, encasing both the memory core for the device and holonet uplinks. Although it does have a relatively short battery life, and certainly short range, the device in itself is certainly able to charge wirelessly should the droid be within a single meter of the user; but this is often a slow process and must be done with care, should too many systems be used while doing so the droid would still find a negative charge induced and would eventually die under duress. Still, with all the innovation done this is merely a side note in the annals of history the droids will no doubt tromp through.
Yet, even this was not enough for the battlefield. Jaeger Solutions gave their prowess in combat to Aegis in that it helped create the foundation of the entire structure; the superstructure and armor that encased the droid. Although meek in more standard warfare terms, the droid even still is able to hold up to small amounts of damage considering it uncustomary size and unconventional sensitivity. Temporary shielding, thin layers of armor, all to allow it that much more survivability in combat, yet even this would not be enough.
To finalize their dessert, a small integrated verpine shatter gun was pressed into the vessel for emergency use. Although relatively small compared to even pistol variants of the weapon, the magnetically driven projectiles are small enough, and powerful enough, to carry with them a serious punch without wasting too much critical space within the compartmentalized droid’s design. Able to lay out nearly a hundred rounds of suppressing fire in a moments notice, it is fully able to pierce most standard armors and even some thicker ones, though there is minimal targeting features on the droid itself. More for tactile situations only, the droid’s weapon isn’t one of offense but defense and other maneuvers that include distraction, covering fire, and even full blown assassinations should the need be required. Soundless and efficient, the weapon is just the icing on an already powerful build.

As a slicer droid its classification would be Second Degree.

I'm unsure of what you meant by short battery, could you clarify that? Additionally, does the short-range in the sentence refer to the memory core's/holonet uplink connection that the droid has to its storage unit, if so, does that mean it can also access these from a one-metre distance?

The description of this submission implies it is a slicer droid primarily, with only a small verpine shatter gun as an emergency fall-back, though this section, paired with the military-grade shield, would imply it has considerable combat capabilities, as the wording here makes it sound like the shatter gun could do serious damage with its fully-automatic firepower, which sounds more akin to that of a proper battle-droid's than a slicer droid's with minor assassination/combat capabilities. Could you elaborate on this?

Other than that it's a well written little bugger, nicely done.

Edited to say 'Battery Life', apologies. The short range in this instance is a reference to its general uplink distance, something explained here;

Low Range -

Just a few meters from the base armor restricts the droid to nothing more than a guardian angel rather than an entire force multiplier; and even then its main utility is slicing and computer related programs.
That is to say, its uplink and holonet access are strictly within its few meter operational range, and should the user get outside of this no further commands could be issued. This leaves the droid simply frozen, as its 'brains' are entirely located within the armor itself.

The verpine shatter gun on this droid is small, and only carries 100 rounds in its entirety. While any verpine shatter gun is certainly deadly (able to pierce most standard armor with an outrageous amount of power), this one is weaker than those in exchange for its fully automatic firing ability. Now, while it has fully automatic, the droid itself contains little targeting parameters that would allow it to be accurate, restricting to a primarily 'defensive' fighter in any situation. Only wide covering fire is able to be performed at range, while more 'kill' command orientations are very rare due to distance required to be effective.

This is the primary alteration, along with its armor integration, from the source material. Much of the armor integration is the weakness, while the weapon was put in to balance that out. This being the original droid in question.

Its meant to be a militarized slicer droid, if that helps reinforce the reason for those additions.

Awesome, as it's a military droid, the classification of Fourth Degree would indeed make more sense.

Please add the weaknesses and strengths of your materials

Strengths:
  • [+] Tunnel - The TunnelNet VPN provides all applicable users with a facet to access the greater HoloNet. Using tunneling protocols to bypass censorship laws and encryption to prevent unauthorized viewing and alteration of data, the TunnelNet offers ample protection and peace of mind to all of its users.
  • [+] Flexible - It's software; able to be installed on a number of communication systems, often being comlinks, laptops, computers, and other mobile devices that access the HoloNet.

  • [-] Latency - Due to the extra hoops and bounds the TunnelNet has to get through, there's oftentimes some degradation of network performance. Comlink applications might have messages sent or received a few seconds later, streaming videos may take longer, etc. More often than not, this is just a minor inconvenience but its uses in law enforcement and the military can have dire consequences.

  • [+] Anywhere - You can put this software on nearly anything. A datapad, computer terminals, servers, mainframes, AI cores, droids, starship computers; if it's an information system that processes or stores data, you can put the SH13LD on it.
Weaknesses:
  • [-] Basic - It's a fairly basic anti-virus program. Nothing that is going to stop extremely complex viruses or malware. It's meant to help provide that basic layer of security to all computer systems.
  • [-] False Positive - The drawback to using a heuristic-based engine is the chance that a perfectly clean and normal program or runtime could be labeled as malware and quarantined. While a minor inconvenience to most users as they can simply unmark it, it can occur in the most dire of times when users least expect it.
  • [-] Definitions/Uplink - While there's an option to actually download the signature-based detection engine, the SH13LD loses an immense part of its detection and removal functions. Without a HoloNet uplink to utilize the heuristic-based engine and updated signatures, the host system becomes susceptible to more zero day threats.

I added what was applicable from those weaknesses and strengths, avoiding ones like 'Flexible' or 'Basic' do to their lack of connection to a slicer droid. While all still apply, they just don't have a place to the submissions as a whole.
