- Missile boat: Compared to other similarly sized vessels, the X9 "Raptor" V-Wing is able to equip an inordinately large amount of concussion missiles, proton torpedos or various other types of ordinance
- High octane: Much like its base model, the X9 "Raptor" is quite fast moving and agile, making it difficult for enemy starfighters to track and keep up with
- Electronic Warfare: Though it is not specifically designed for it, the X9 "Raptor" V-Wing does possess limited electronic warfare capabilities
- Unpleasant surprise: The laser cannons that the X9 "Raptor" V-Wing is equipped with can can swivel 180° forward or backward, allowing the ship to catch pursuing starfighters by surprise
- Small profile: The X9 "Raptor" is a relatively minuscule ship, which can make it difficult for enemy starfighters to target due to its rather small size
- Volatile: Because the X9 "Raptor" carries such a large amount on onboard explosives, it is liable to explode spectacularly if heavily damaged
- Performance issues: The installation of two M-s3 concussion missile launchers on the X9 "Raptor" has impacted its overall performance, causing it to "only" have a rating of high for its speed and maneuverability
- No hyperdrive: The X9 "Raptor" does not come equipped with a hyperdrive, forcing it to rely on dedicated fleet carriers or hyperdrive rings for long range transport
- Experimental: Though the V-Wing is a relatively common design, the X9 "Raptor" variant is fairly unique and one of a kind, complicating repairs and system diagnostics
- Loud and proud: The X9 "Raptor" is by no means a stealthy kind of ship. If the roar of its engines doesn't give it away, the sound of its exploding missiles certainly will
The Alpha-class Xg-1 Star Wing was a relatively uncommon but inarguably effective starfighter that was employed by the original Galactic Empire during its war with the Rebel Alliance. Such ships were heavily armed and quite effective in combat, though only produced in relatively small numbers. Now, nearly 900 years later, the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant, alongside the N&Z Umbrella Corporation, has decided to try a new take on the design with the construction of the X9 "Raptor" V-Wing Starfighter.
Much like with its predecessor, the X9 "Raptor" relies primarily on missiles to inflict damage, though it does possess a pair of Twin NZ LC-2A Laser Cannons to finish up targets softened up by its missile barrages. The V-Wing platform was selected for the construction of this starfighter because it allowed the designers of the Raptor to fit a large number of missiles onto the ship without overly compromising on speed, maneuverability or additional size.
The end result of this project was a fast and agile fighter that could fire off large numbers of concussion missiles, proton torpedos and other types of ordinance from a single platform. That being said, as it is still a very experimental craft, the X9 was given to a rising Imperial Confederation pilot by the name of
