- Mode Change: Building off the X-wings inherent design, Si Tech made further distinctions between the two modes of flight.
- Attack Mode: The Flyswatter's primary attack mode, the sweft back wings allow it superiority over many fighter craft, in both maneuverability and speed.
- Atmospheric Mode: With the wings deployed, the Flyswatter is designed to allow it stability in atmosphere, without sacrificing speed or maneuverability. This can also be used to stabilize the ship before firing the main Turbolaser.
- Ghost of Wild Space: The Full Spectrum Distortion Projector allows the Flyswatter to jam sensors and targeting computers from locking onto it, making it much harder for enemy pilots to keep track of it, making the already incredibly maneuverable fighter a twirling ghost in the sky.
- Lightning Bolt: The Flyswatter was designed off the back of custom model X-wings, originally designed by Wild Spacers for starfighter racing. While the skeleton of the ship is much the same as those racer ships, the ship is designed with engines normally used for podracers, giving it a speed unmatched by fighters it's size.
- Thunderstruck: The Flyswatter's armament loadout was originally going to be that of a Headhunter, twin Laser Cannons that would allow it to act as a standard interceptor for the Rebellion, but with the swept wing design, the designers at Si Tech reworked the cannons into a twin trio of laser cannons, designed to allow the Flyswatter to hit with a heavy kick. While this would be enough, the long nose of the ship left the designers with a strange opportunity. Not only were the wing-bases hollow, allowing for a set of missile pods, but the open nose was able to fit a full turbolaser, that allows the Flyswatter to challenge even lightly armored corvettes if needed.
- Ace Combat Bullshit: The swept wings do allow ace pilots to do some rather nasty tricks with the ship, maneuvers that would normally tear ships of it's size apart. Flips and tricks that, while straining both the skeleton of the ship, and the acceleration compensators, cause the ship to be maneuverability to the point of absurdity to a pilot who knows what they're doing.
- Turbo Recoil: The nose mounted turbolaser has a hell of a kick, and it's standard practice to put your swept wings forward before firing the turbolaser to compensate. While this does act as a calling card for the gun, experienced pilots swear by simply letting the ship tank the recoil, and regaining control manually.
- Swat The Flyswatter: The Flyswatter, in a trade off for speed, is rather lightly armored. If you can figure out how to hit it, it's not hard to knock out of the sky.
Podracing in Wild Space is an interplanetary past time, and as such, many fighter pilots custom rig their fighters to mimic the sport. This inherent fact was the inspiration for the Wild Space Rebellion's new interceptor, the Flyswatter. Designed off the back of these modified fighters, the Flyswatter is a strange fusion of Headhunter and A-wing, designed to act as a hyper-fast deploying TIE-Killer.
Equipped with six laser cannons and a fully functioning turbolaser, the Flyswatter is designed to act as the WSR's best fighter available for shooting down incoming fighters, both as part of planetary defenses forces, and as part of the WSR's growning navy.
