GENERAL INFORMATION
Name Name of the species Designation Sentient, semi, or non-sentient. Unsure of what qualifies? Read up on sentience designation here.
- Non-Sentient: Creatures that lack the ability to reason, speak, or use tools. They operate purely on instinct or basic training and have no true awareness or higher thought. Most animals fall under this category.
- Semi-Sentient: Species with limited reasoning and problem-solving skills. They may use rudimentary tools or language, and show signs of intelligence, but do not have full self-awareness or abstract thought. Often considered "emerging sentience."
- Sentient: Fully intelligent species capable of abstract thought, complex language, emotional understanding, tool use, and self-awareness. Most humanoid species, as well as many alien and droid species, fall under this category.
- Droid Sentient: While not biologically alive, many droids are considered sentient because they demonstrate advanced reasoning, self-awareness, emotions, and independence. Their sentience is typically a result of advanced programming or developed personality matrices.
Origins This can be a planet (canon or Chaos canon sub), a company's lab, a region of space, extra-galactic, etc. Provide a link if applicable. Average Lifespan In standard years. An average age or range is required. Estimated Population - Unique – Only one known individual exists. Often applies to one-off creations, Sithspawn, ancient beings, or mythic-level characters or entities.
- Semi-Unique – An extremely small number exist. They may be the first or last of their kind, or incredibly rare survivors, mutations, or experiments.
- Rare – A small number of isolated groups, typically confined to a single planet or system. Uncommon and rarely seen outside their origin.
- Planetary – A large, stable population located primarily on one planet or within a single star system. Rarely encountered off-world.
- Scattered – Small, spread-out populations scattered across the galaxy. May result from diaspora, collapse, or nomadic tendencies.
- Inter-Planetary – Significant populations present in multiple star systems or sectors. Not dominant, but widely known and recognized.
- Common – Found throughout the galaxy in large numbers. Their presence is standard in most galactic civilizations or star-faring colonies.
Description Provide a short paragraph that describes this species at a glance. More in-depth descriptions can be added in distinctions below. -
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Breathes - Type I Atmospheres – Breathable to most humanoid species without special equipment. Standard oxygen-nitrogen mix. Comfortable temperatures and pressure. Most habitable worlds fall into this category (e.g., Coruscant, Naboo).
- Type II Atmospheres – Breathable but requires a breather or filter due to trace toxins, low oxygen, or particulate matter. Prolonged exposure without protection may cause health issues. Examples include worlds with volcanic activity or pollution.
- Type III Atmospheres – Unbreathable without full life-support gear. May contain toxic gases, extreme pressures, or incompatible chemical makeup. Usually only droids or sealed suits can function here safely.
- Type IV Atmospheres – Immediately deadly to most lifeforms. Highly corrosive, radioactive, or otherwise extreme environments. Total environmental protection is required to survive even brief exposure. Often found on hostile or devastated worlds.
Average Height of Adults In metric. Average Length of Adults In metric. If not applicable put N/A. Skin color Their common skin colors. Hair color Their common hair colors, if any. Distinctions Describe the unique physical traits that define what they are and set them apart from more common species like humans. Include any differences between male and female, regional variations, and traits of maturity or aging.
Describe the unique physical traits that define what they are and set them apart from more common species like humans. Be sure to include any differences between male and female, as well as variations between different regional groups if any, and characteristics that denote a matured or ageing specimen.Races Not subspecies – distinct cultural or physical races (like human races). Force Sensitivity - Force Dead – Members of this species are completely cut off from the Force. They cannot be sensed or affected by Force powers, and likewise cannot use the Force themselves. Example: Yuuzhan Vong. See the Species Rules for guidelines.
- Non-Sensitive – No members of the species possess Force sensitivity. They cannot use, sense, or be trained in the Force.
- Rare – Only a very small percentage of the species are Force Sensitive. Force users are extremely uncommon. Example: Hutts.
- Low – Some members are Force Sensitive, but the majority are not. It is considered unusual but not unheard of.
- Standard – Force sensitivity is neither common nor rare. A typical balance where some are born sensitive, and some are not.
- High – A large portion of the species is Force Sensitive. Force ability is a frequent trait among the population. Examples: Humans, Twi'leks.
- All – Every single member of the species is born Force Sensitive, though most lack formal training. Examples: Neti, Vahla. See the Species Rules for additional guidance.

CULTURE
Diet - Herbivore – The species primarily consumes plant-based matter such as leaves, fruits, roots, seeds, and vegetables. They do not eat meat. Many herbivores are sensitive or allergic to proteins found in animal tissue, and meat-based diets may be toxic or indigestible to them.
- Carnivore – The species feeds primarily on meat, raw or cooked. This includes animal flesh, insects, or seafood. They may be unable to process plant matter efficiently, and some vegetation (like certain fruits or grains) could be harmful or lack nutritional value.
- Omnivore – The most flexible diet type. Omnivores consume both plant and animal matter, allowing them to adapt to a wide range of food sources. Their digestive systems are typically tolerant of most diets, though specific toxins or allergens may still apply.
- Other (please explain) – The species has an unusual or highly specific diet. This could include photosynthesis, mineral consumption, radiation, fungi, electrical energy, Force energy, or synthetic compounds. Always explain what the species consumes, what it avoids, and what might be toxic.
Communication How do they communicate? A spoken language (if so, tell us which), through barks and yips, body language, telepathy, etc.
- Spoken Language – The species uses vocalized words and structured grammar to communicate, much like Basic or other galactic tongues. Specify the language used (e.g., Basic, Shyriiwook, Sith, etc.).
- Non-Verbal Vocalizations – Communication is carried out through growls, barks, howls, chirps, clicks, hisses, or other non-linguistic sounds. May be emotional in tone or follow a patterned meaning.
- Body Language – Posture, gestures, tail flicks, ear positions, and facial expressions convey meaning. This method is instinctual and deeply ingrained in social structure.
- Pheromones – The species emits scent-based chemical signals to communicate mood, reproductive state, danger, or territory. Often combined with other forms of interaction.
- Bioluminescence – Colored lights or glowing patterns on skin, frills, or appendages are used to communicate mood, intent, or structured signals—similar to sign language through flashing sequences.
- Telepathy – Communication is conducted mind-to-mind. This may be species-wide or limited to Force-sensitive individuals. Some species speak in emotions or images instead of words.
- Tactile Communication – Physical touch is essential to convey messages—through skin patterns, pressure, or contact-based signals. May be common in aquatic, subterranean, or sensory-heavy species.
- Electromagnetic Pulses – The species emits modulated pulses of electromagnetic energy to communicate silently over distance. Typically found in synthetic, insectoid, or cybernetic lifeforms.
- Vibration or Subsonic Rumbles – Messages are transmitted through vibrations in the ground, air, or water. Useful in dense terrain or for massive creatures.
- Color Shifting – The species alters its skin tone or surface texture as a visual language. Similar to cuttlefish, this can indicate emotion or be used as coded messages.
- Art/Symbolic Language – They communicate through symbolic writing, patterns, or constructed glyphs that must be interpreted. May be religious, philosophical, or abstract in nature.
- Harmonic Resonance – Using tones, chimes, or harmonic frequency matching, this musical-style language may be soothing, complex, and unique to each individual or caste.
- Force Empathy – Rather than full telepathy, the species sends emotions, sensations, or memories through the Force. It may bypass language entirely but still communicate intent or urgency.
Technology level Describe their societal technology level if it differs from Galactic Standard.
- Stone – Civilizations at this level form small social groups and rely on primitive cultivation, hunting, and gathering. Tools are handmade and simple. There is little or no formal trade, and transportation is done on foot with no road systems. Communication occurs through storytelling or visual symbols.
(e.g. Endor, homeworld of the Ewoks and Yuzzum) - Feudal – These societies use simple manufactured goods and have established regional interactions. Tools are created by artisans or basic workshops. Agriculture involves domesticated animals and planted crops. Travel is done via animal power, sails, or waterways, and there are basic road networks. Writing systems are in use.
(e.g. Gamorr, homeworld of the Gamorreans) - Industrial – A division of labor between agriculture and manufacturing exists. Mass production emerges, powered by combustion-based electricity. Transportation and farming are motorized, and basic electrical communications (e.g. telegraphs, radios) are used. Literacy becomes widespread.
(e.g. Ryloth, homeworld of the Twi'leks) - Atomic – Highly efficient mass production, plastics, and metal alloys are common. Space travel is in early stages of development. Advanced medicine, business systems, and communications emerge, including radio and early computing. Societies may begin constructing orbital stations or satellites.
- Information – Global data networks and digital communication dominate. Societies have widespread access to information. Early droids and energy-based weapons may appear. Repulsorlift technology is on the verge of discovery. While hyperspace is still out of reach, in-system space travel is common.
(e.g. Kubindi, homeworld of the Kubaz) - Space – Hyperspace travel, extra-system colonization, advanced energy weapons (e.g. blasters), efficient industry, and droid usage define this level. Considered the pinnacle of technological advancement before fringe or exotic technologies.
(e.g. Dac, homeworld of the Mon Calamari and Quarren)
Religion/Beliefs If this species has a prominent religion or set of beliefs, describe them here. General behavior Describe general behaviors such as: family life, values, how they raise their young, how they find mates, how they interact with the world and other species. Do they hunt? Build? Are they inventors? Explorers? Nocturnal? Diurnal? Do they attend schools? Etc. -
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
History Include a description of the species history here. If your species is genetically engineered or Sithspawn please describe the process through which they were created, by who, and why. Explain the various challenges encountered during their creation. Most galactic species will be quite old - include major events relevant to the species in how they evolved and developed into what they are today where appropriate. Including Chaos canon events, where they impacted the history of this species, is a plus.
