OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

  • Intent: To create a stronghold on Vylmira used for celebrations and gatherings

  • Canon: N/A

  • Links: Vylmira Vylmiran Hunters
SETTING INFORMATION

  • Structure Name: Winterhaven

  • Classification: Fortress

  • Location: Vylmira

  • Affiliation: Vylmiran Council

  • Accessibility: While rather secluded, the location is easy enough to locate, as it is a well documented structure. Located on the outskirts of Vylmira's northern-most city, Winterhaven is easily accessible by land, though the winding mountain paths limit the size of vehicles that can enter.

  • Description: Winterhaven serves as both capital of its home region, and winter stronghold. Before its use as the capital, it served as a hunting lodge for the winter months, shielding travelers from the harsh northern climates. The fortress was built using stone and crystal, giving the higher towers the appearance of icy spires. The interior is decorated in furs and other such rustic designs, invoking the feel of a hunting lodge from an era when primitive technology was the primary tool of the trade.
POINTS OF INTEREST

  • The Great Hall
The Great Hall is the primary chamber in the fortress, hosting the residents at meal times. The Great Hall has also served host to a number of ceremonies and gatherings, and is easily decorated for said events. Given its location and appeal, it is often sought after as a winter getaway for wealthy Life Day enthusiasts.

[*]The Gardens
  • Often criticized for its misleading name, The Gardens host very little plant life due to its location on the edge of the polar region. Rather, The Gardens play host to natural crystal growths, some native to Vylmira, and others imported. During the day, the crystals gleam with the natural sunlight, often resulting in a blinding display if viewed without proper protection. At night, or during reduced visibility conditions, artificial lighting illuminates the crystals in a similar brilliant display, but without the harmful effects. As the Gardens are open to the elements, warm clothing is recommended.

[*]The Lounge
  • A colloquial name for the barracks, the Lounge serves as host to the various Hunters (Vylmiran or otherwise) that call Winterhaven home, for however short or long their stay might be. Decorated with an array of trophies from Vylmira and other worlds, the Lounge is a spot to rest and recuperate before launching on the next hunt.

[*]The Council Chambers
  • Owing to the policy of utilizing historical buildings for government purposes, Winterhaven plays host to the region's councilor. The Council chambers serve as both home and office to the individual holding the office. Typically private unless on official business, the Councilor will often host his or her own guests within these chambers.

[*]The Forge
  • The Forge plays host to the mighty northern forge of Vylmira, and is the lone permanent structure affiliated with the Vylmiran Hunters. Not a forge in the traditional sense, the structure is instead a series of tools designed to assist in the art of imbuing the Force into items.

SECURITY

Medium

Winterhaven plays host to a small garrison of soldiers and hunters that serve as personnel defense and general security for the building. Additionally, a defensive shield can be raised over the structure to prevent orbital bombardments. Anti-air turrets exist, but they are somewhat removed from the structure so as not to impede the general aesthetic of the historical site.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Winterhaven is perhaps one of the oldest structures on Vylmira, dating back to the first days as a Miralukan Colony. Designed to shield the inhabitants from the harsh winters of the northern regions, Winterhaven does not rely on modern technology in the same way that many structures do. Thick walls and roaring fires combat the cold to the best of their ability, and much debate has been stirred over the idea of modernizing the ancient fortress.

Given the cultural heritage behind the building, many agree that it should remain as is, in order to preserve its status as an important historical location. Now serving as government seat and tourist attraction, the ancient fortress retains appeal as a winter get away for the wealthy, or a must-stop location for hunters of game, both sentient and non. So long as business is not conducted on Winterhaven grounds, any manner of hunter is welcome in her halls.

SECURITY Medium
As required by the template, please list all security assets. Since this structure is classified as a fortress, is there a garrison? Are there any defence batteries, turrets, traps etc.? Provide hyperlinks for Factory/Codex subs or to Wookieepedia pages where needed.

[ Provide a Security Rating (choose from: None, Low, Medium, High, Maximum) and any specific security assets in list format. What defenses does this location have, including internal and perimeter defenses? Please note that the rating is relative to the type of location this is. Normal civilian structures have a different scope in security, compared to military bases. As such a civilian structure with a Maximum security rating is not on the same level as a military base with a Maximum rating. A civilian structure with a Maximum rating could be the seat of a planetary government, or the headquarters of an inter-galactic corporation. Private security, alarms, perhaps even a defensive shield, but they should not have entire armies within or enough armament to destroy a fleet above. Please link rare or uncommon tech/equipment to the SW wiki article or Factory-approved submission. Common canon items do not need to be linked. ]
