STRENGTHS

• All the strengths one might expect from embedding vibrogenerators in an elegant, slim-profiled tusk:
  • Hefty, good for cleaving or impalement.
  • When vibrogenerators are active, good at cutting.
  • Good balance for nimble one-handed use — swashbuckling, even.
  • Back edge is dull and without vibrogenerators, allowing for flamboyant tactical options. For example, the sword can be gripped in the teeth while its owner swings on a rope.
• Complete resistance to lightsabers and blasters against repeated or sustained contact.
• Resilient against other vibroweapons, force pikes, and similar gear, though the blade can notch and chip from heavy impact.
• A beautiful weapon suitable for all contexts.

WEAKNESSES

• All the weaknesses one might expect from embedding vibrogenerators in an elegant, slim-profiled tusk:
  • When vibrogenerators are inactive, cuts like a butter knife.
  • Back edge is dull and without vibrogenerators.
  • Vibrogenerators can be temporarily deactivated by EMP grenades or ion weapons; if they get blasted by Sith lightning or similar discharge, they'll need replacement by a technician.
  • Blade has mass; less whippy than a lightsaber.
  • Not much flex; blade can be cracked, snapped, or shattered by, for example, solid-shot sniper rifle, Verpine shattergun, gravity hammer, or concussion grenade.
  • Blade is biomass and thus can be eaten away easily by trihexalon, producing an intense burst of green flame that's liable to harm everyone around. Nasty stuff, that dragon's breath.
• Durasteel basket hilt will not stop a lightsaber.

DESCRIPTION
The ivory of the Wielu saberfish, perfectly capable of withstanding repeated lightsaber impacts, is a rare and fascinating material that would have been restricted in days of yore. Wielu ivory sabers are made by traditional artisans by mating a saberfish's primary tusk to a handcrafted hilt with a grip of saberfish shagreen.

During the confrontation between Black Sun and the High Republic in the early years of the 10th century, niche clashes took place on the surface of Wielu and in orbit. Black Sun's barely-deniable blockade was broken due in part to someone — we won't say who — accidentally releasing a hundred thousand purebred mynocks.

In the conflict's immediate aftermath, Black Sun snapped up a couple dozen of the finest Wielu ivory sabers during one final sentimental shopping binge at the best black market in five sectors. The sabers were then distributed as gifts and tokens of loyalty. A few ivory sabers also fell into High Republic hands, curse their black hearts.
