OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Cin'hastaal Sujyr | White Scar Post
  • Classification:
    • Settlement
    • Outpost
  • Location: Kestri
  • Affiliation:
  • Accessibility: Travel to White Scar Post usually necessitates some sort of craft, whether a planet hopper or starship, to reach it from other Kestri settlements. While travel via land and sea is possible, it is extremely tedious and time-consuming, not to mention the added complications of Kestri's hostile arctic climate. White Scar Post's population is almost entirely Mandalorian. The only permanent residents are those of Clan Dragr, who use the post as a means of income and as a homestead for the small clan. Although it retains official status as a Karjr outpost of the Enclave, it has more of a loose affiliation with the guild rather than falling directly under its administration. The community of Mandalorians that frequent White Scar are usually tight-knit, Karjr and bounty hunter veterans who know each other by name. Other Mandalorians are welcome, but few find a reason to venture to the Post. Typically, non-Mandalorians are not seen at White Scar Post unless they are the guest of a Mandalorian patron. While not expressively forbidden, any non-Mandalorian would be greeted with a healthy amount of suspicion and would be incredibly inconspicuous.

  • Description: White Scar Post is a small settlement that operates as the home of Clan Dragr on Kestri. The third of such Clan Headquarters, replacing their holdings on Norg Bral following the genocide of Mandalore, the Post is a small settlement located in the secluded and sparsely-populated Cin'haastal Mountain Range. Atop the summit of Sur'ulur Tethr, a low-lying peak in the mountain range, White Scar Post is situated opposite the eponymous Cin'haastal spine, the massive ridge-like line of mountains from which the entire mountain range derives its name. Between the lower mountains where White Scar is located and the Cin'haastal spine is the Da'lepar valley, through which the Me'suum'ika Tkadetr River cuts through dense pine forests until it eventually meets the Htagir Sea.

While originally constructed to be the home of Clan Dragr, White Scar Post became a semi-official Enclave installation over the sparsely populated region. The arrangement borne out of mutual needs has proved very beneficial to maintaining the rugged nature of the Cin'hastaal mountains while providing resources, protection, or even just a drink to Mandalorians who need it. The post is divided into three main levels; the ground level, open to the public with various amenities including the White Scar tavern; the second level, which actually consists of multiple floors, and acts as the true home of Clan Dragr, and the sub-ground level, which is meant to be used for storage and in official Enclave capacity should the need arise. The post is maintained by members of Clan Dragr and a small workforce of Cernr-type droids who perform much of the menial labor around the post. Many droids have developed complex personality matrices mostly due to the neglect of supervision from their Dragr masters, but this development is more seen as a quirk than an issue.

In front of the settlement is a large cleared portion of the ridge summit where starships can land and cargo is often tied down until it can be moved into the post itself. White Scar's shield generators are able to damper adverse weather in this area to a certain degree, while a tractor beam is utilized along more conventional means to tie any starship down to prevent powerful storms from doing damage. However, extensive use of the tractor beam is costly in both energy and wear, so ships that are going o be docked for an extended period of time are docked in cliffside hangar bays. Equipped with reinforced blast doors, these hangars are both preferred by members of Clan Dragr and longtime patrons. Tunnels provide access from the hangar bays directly to the Post itself.

Aside from the landing fields and the main structure are the White Scar stables, where the famous Dragr orbak herd is kept and bred by Volo Dragr. Orbaks are popularized among Kestri Mandalorians as a reliable alternative in the cold to speeders for overland travel, and Clan Dragr's herd became known planetwide for producing many fine mounts. Many Mandalorians will make the journey to the Post just to purchase an orbak for themselves. Orbaks from the herd are also granted to those who wish to journey into the Da'lepar Valley for hunting excursions, a popular pastime.

Upon entering the Post from the main entrance out on the landing field, visitors come upon the entrance hall. The hall serves as a short hub where all of White Scar Post's amenities can be accessed. To the left lies the massive and warm White Scar Tavern, while on the right include the post's armory, a small entrance to the Post's lodging, and a Kyr'bes Buy'ce storefront. White Scar Tavern is a sprawling, homey establishment that has become the favorite haunt of individualistic, veteran Mandalorians who prefer the quieter, tight-knit community of White Scar to the bustling hubs such as Tor Valum. The tavern serves many different traditional Mandalorian foods and drinks, kept warm by a massive hearth where patrons can sometimes catch songs and sagas performed by Obran Dragr. Siv Dragr can also be found occasionally serving drinks behind the bar alongside the tavern's droid bartender, though most patrons agree that the latter is much more sociable.

The armory is a public space for visiting Mandalorians to repair or maintain their weapons and armor while providing stock weaponry that can be borrowed if needs be. The Kyr'bes Buy'ce storefront is a small affair where commissions and orders can be purchased from the famous Mandalorian company; although a Cernr droid usually manages the storefront, from time to time company founder Sahan Dragr can be found there. White Scar provides extensive lodging options for visiting Mandalorians; several Mandalorians all but call the Post home, indefinitely renting out rooms and spending their days hunting in the valley and drinking in the tavern. At the entrance hall, a small entrance into the lodging portion of the Post can be found next to the armory, where Mandalorians are assisted by a Cernr droid at the front managing rooms.

On the ground floor but not immediately accessible to the public is the White Scar Brewery, a small brewery that supplies the Post's tavern with various traditional Mandalorian alcoholic beverages, including Ne'tra gal, Tihaar, Kri'gee, and what some consider a crude attempt at Mandallian Narcolethe. Many ingredients are sourced locally, giving White Scar Brewery's -- and thereby White Scar Tavern's -- drinks a distinctive flavor over drinks distilled elsewhere. Many patrons of White Scar Tavern will attest that the unique flavors are what drives them to the Post.

Though far from a standard Enclave military installation, White Scar Post is still designed to intend to function as an administrative outpost over the Cin'haastal Mountain Range should the need arise. The outpost features a triage bunker on the below-ground level that can be used for command, medical treatment, or another variety of purposes. The bunker is the most well-fortified section of the outpost, able to withstand considerable bombardment. Adjacent to the bunker are reinforced cellars able to hold years' worth of supplies and provisions.

The second level is home to Clan Dragr and is kept private from the rest of the Post. Only accessible to members of Clan Dragr, whether from the entrance hall or from personal hangar bays, the second level consists of many stories and vacant rooms that reflect a hope for the Clan's future rather than its current size in the present. The clan common room acts as the centerpiece of the level, rather large with places for lounging, food preparation, and space that can be reconfigured for various purposes. Although most clans would display trophies and pieces of heritage, virtually all that belonged to Clan Dragr was lost in the Mandalorian Genocide. Apart from the common room is a Clan armory and training hall for use by Clan members, and on the opposite side is access to private quarters. These quarters are variable in size and location, with some carved deep into the post while others feature cliffside windows that look out onto the Cin'hastaal spine. Much of the second level is vacant and half-finished, meant to be added upon as the need arises for various facilities and extra space.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Perimeter
    • Landing Flats: Immediately in front of the settlement is a cleared landing zone where starships can drop off cargo or park intermittently for quick visits. The area is protected by White Scar's shield generator which is used as a buffer during adverse weather conditions. A tractor beam is also utilized along with more traditional methods of tying ships down to provide an extra measure of security from Kestri's storms.
    • Orbak Stables: Aside from the main structure of White Scar Post itself, the Orbak stables are where Clan Dragr's famous herd is kept and bred by Volo Dragr himself. The stables are heated and reinforced to insulate the herd during Kestri's cold nights; during the day, the herd usually is taken grazing alongside the frost-covered meadows of the lower Cin'hastaal mountains or deeper to the lush grazing ground around the Vurel fjord. The Orbak is one of the creatures that has adapted well to Kestri's climate, able to sift through layers of snow to feed from the lichen and moss that grows below.
    • Cliffside Hangar Bays: Protecting ships from Kestri's harsh climate with reinforced blast doors, the cliffside hangar bays are the preferred docking choice of Clan Dragr members and many regular patrons of White Scar Post. Mandalorians can access their hangar bays through a tunnel network that runs from the bays directly into the Entrance Hall, while the private hangar bays of Clan Dragr members are directly connected to the second level through restricted-access tunnels that run along the same network.
    • Sensor Systems: A network of sensor systems provides White Scar Post with ample monitoring capabilities of the Cin'hastaal mountain range for purposes of both communication and surveillance. White Scar's sensor systems are part of a vital planetary network of communications and sensors and are a component of the post's official Enclave functions.
  • Ground Level | Public Sector
    • Entrance Hall: The entrance hall is the central hub of the ground level, where access to all areas of the level can be found. The hall is heated extensively to combat the constant cold let in by Mandalorians entering the post. The
    • White Scar Tavern: The White Scar Tavern is a common meeting room adjacent to the Entrance Hall, large, expansive, and homely. Heated with a massive hearth and advanced plumbing, the tavern provides warmth and respite from Kestri's often-bitter cold. Many traditional Mandalorian food items and drinks are provided here, and sometimes members of Clan Dragr are found here. The tavern is preferred by Mandalorians of a more reclusive personality, often veterans who prefer the rugged, isolated nature of the Cin'hastaal mountains to the noise and bustle of cities such as Tor Valum or Reavers Bay.
    • White Scar Brewery: Many of White Scar's drinks are brewed here, using both native Kestri ingredients sourced locally in the Cin'haastal mountains and ingredients imported on a regular monthly basis. The brewery is small and lacks any capacity to export products, but it is only meant to produce stock for the White Scar Tavern. Still, it is known for its distinctive flavors in reproductions of traditional Mandalorian drinks, and to some extent these unique flavor profiles drive traffic to the Post and add to its appeal and flair.
    • White Scar Armory: A general-purpose Armory with tools for Mandalorians to clean and adjust their own gear. Stocked with standard Enclave armor pieces and weaponry to be used, if needed.
    • Kyr'bes Buy'ce Workshop: A satellite location of the famous Mandalorian company, the workshop is a place where Mandalorians can place orders or commissions from the company. Although the workshop is usually managed by one of White Scar Post's Cernr droids, company founder Sahan Dragr can occasionally be found here tinkering with items or engaging with customers.
    • Lodging Rooms: White Scar Post provides extensive lodging for Mandalorians who wish for it, and is really the only option for Mandalorians who want to live in the Cin'hastaal mountains. Rooms are booked often by reclusive warriors who often spend many nights here while venturing into the wilderness, or Karjr back from a lengthy patrol and need some peace and quiet before re-engaging. While all lodging is intended to be only temporary, some have turned their rooms into permanent residences in all but name, perpetually renting out spaces at the Post.
  • Second Level | Clan Dragr Sector
    • Clan Quarters: Private quarters that vary widely depending on their occupant. The small nature of Clan Dragr means that each room is constructed to its owner's specifications, and many rooms sit unfinished in hopes that there may be future members to occupy them. Some rooms are built deep into the mountainside while others are left with a breathtaking window view of the Cin'hastaal spine.
    • Training Hall: The training hall is a circular chamber with a high-vaulted ceiling, one of the largest rooms in the outpost. It is utilized by Clan Dragr members for training, as its name would suggest, and features many different pieces of equipment to facilitate martial instruction.
    • Clan Armory: An extensive armory with various weapons, gadgets, and armor components as well as tools to repair Clan Dragr equipment.
    • Clan Common Room: The common room is the central node of the second level, an expansive shared space with ample lounge room and food preparation equipment. Much of the space is quite variable, with games, archives, and other miscellaneous features. Although most Clans would display clan trophies and pieces of heritage here, Clan Dragr has little to show with most of it being lost after the Mandalorian Genocide. Still, the common room is decorated with Clan Dragr trappings that give it a distinct official flair.
  • Subground Level | Storage & Triage Sector
    • Triage Bunker: The triage bunker is the most reinforced section of White Scar Post, meant to withstand considerable bombardment. This is a multipurpose facility that is meant to be able to be used in any official Enclave capacity should the need arise, whether it be organizing search-and-rescue missions, commanding military forces, or serving as an impromptu medical facility.
    • Provisions Cellar: An extensive, reinforced cellar with provisions to supply White Scar Outpost for up to several years should it lose contact with the outside world and galaxy for whatever reason. The exact amount of provisions and supplies vary, as they are regularly used by White Scar and replaced when needed rather than just sitting in long-term storage. Given that shipping anything is an extensive process, it is usually easier to move items in bulk on a semi-regular basis and keep them in the cellar until they are needed.
    • Generator Room: The generator room both holds the outpost's shield generator -- which protects the structure from Kestri's volatile storms, and can be configured to defend the outpost in case of attack -- and White Scar's power generator, a geothermal pump that consistently and reliably generates power to the outpost from heat sinks deep underground. The geothermal pump is also used to provide steam that circulates through pipes throughout White Scar that keeps the outpost insulated from the cold, a reproduction of the technology used in Tor Valum.
SECURITY | High
Though White Scar is a relatively small structure with a low population, that population consists of highly-trained Mandalorians; many of them veteran warriors. Any assault on the position would require a considerable armed force to be able to storm the settlement and its Mandalorian inhabitants. It also makes subterfuge much more difficult, as non-Mandalorians are incredibly conspicuous at the Post.

White Scar is not meant to be a defensive military emplacement. As such, in terms of defenses, White Scar features very little outside of its inhabitants, which at any time are between one to two dozen Mandalorians and half again Cernr-type droids. However, the martial ability of its inhabitants is not something to be discounted.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
White Scar Post was founded by Siv Dragr, alongside his adoptive brothers Volo and Obran, to become a new settlement for the rebirth and rebuilding of Clan Dragr. Decimated by the genocide of Mandalore to the point that Siv was the only confirmed Clan member alive, it had been his dream to bring his Clan back from the brink of extinction and pass on his legacy. For a long time, the task felt insurmountable, but the Enclave's growth and consolidation of power on Kestri had finally created an atmosphere in order to rebuild.

Ground was broken shortly after the Enclave's invasion of Panatha, but escalating tensions in the Frontier War affected Clan Dragr's members -- with one lost in the Netherworld, one called to be Guildmaster of the Enclave's Karjr, and the last slow and inexperienced at any sort of construction -- all slowed progress. Construction would only begin in earnest in 880 ABY, and it would take several more years until White Scar Post was complete and in operation. Complete is a misnomer as well, due to the fact that White Scar Post has several sections that purposefully remain unfinished with the intent of being used to satisfy future needs that may arise.

Both an official installation of the Enclave and the private home of Clan Dragr, White Scar Post has a unique atmosphere that reflects its location in the isolated and rugged Cin'hastaal Mountain Range and the individualistic nature of the Clan that calls it home. It has become a favorite haunt for more reclusive members of the Mando'ade, an enclave within an enclave, a frontier on the frontier. It is a lone settlement far from the bustle of the galaxy where Mandalorians can truly find rest and a home.

Overall a very solid and detailed submission that looks great! I would like to see a little bit more detail in Security if I'm honest but what you have now is suitable and understandable. Mandos are pretty tough after all. The only real hang-up is in Image Credit, I just need a link to whatever program was used to generate the art and you're good to go!
