CAPTAIN RONHAR TANE, TK-3301
CORROX CENTRAL PLAZA
MAHPOREEM

In all honesty, this was probably a terrible idea.

Ronhar paced up and down the line of the All Terrain Cargo Transporters that had been assembled at the request of Jolly Walker Jolly Walker and his rather nefarious organization. The head purveyor of the infamous "Galactic Black Market", Walker had contact Ronhar with a rather unusual offer: an agreement to host his black market activities on Mahporeem in exchange for logistical and mechanical support of his operations. At a glance, it truly did seem like a foolish and dangerous idea, considering that the black market was full of Sith artifacts of dubious origin, artifacts that were sure to cause trouble for Mahporeem and the people of the planet, not to mention the many illicit substances that the black market just happened to have for sale.

And yet, as dangerous as these items were, they were also correspondingly powerful, perhaps even powerful enough to shift the balance of power in the sector toward the Imperial Remnant. Having access to these items, and a steady supply of them, would enable Mahporeem to flex its military and political might even more so that it already was, and might even give the Imperial Remnant the impetus it needed to begin conquering other systems or attracting new allies to its banner.

These days, Mahporeem needed all the allies it could get.

So, despite their misgivings, the Imperial Remnant had agreed to host a meeting with Jolly Walker Jolly Walker on the planet, to better understand just what type of support he needed and to inspect his various items and wares firsthand, so that the Imperial Remnant could see just exactly what Walker was planning on bringing into the Imperial Remnant. Depending on what he had, Mahporeem might even wish to acquire some of his wares for themselves, and there were plenty of items in his inventory list that had piqued the Imperial Remnant's interest. The question was, of course, if Walker would be willing to part with those items, especially if he was to have an ongoing business relationship with the Imperial Remnant moving forward.

Still, Ronhar wasn't taking any chances, which is why he had brought a platoon of Junktroopers and Stormwookiees with him, along with a trio of Junkyard Knights, who would be able to ascertain the value of certain force imbued items that Ronhar and the rest of his men would have no idea how to appraise. The Wookiees would be useful for lifting and carrying particularly heavy objects, while the Junktroopers would hopefully be able to contain any problems that might arise, or at least give Ronhar enough time to deal with any problems that could come from handling such dangerous and exotic goods.

Now, all Ronhar had to do was wait for Jolly Walker Jolly Walker to land, with a landing pad having been prepped for his arrival nearby, though still far enough to ensure that he would need a least a 10 minute trip to the meeting site. Should things get out of hand, Ronhar wanted to make sure that Walker couldn't just run back to his ship and escape, leaving Mahporeem to clean up any mess he might make. No, should something go wrong, Walker would be forced to deal with it, and assist in solving any issues that might arise from the goods he brought.

.....yeah, this really was a terrible idea. But it was now or never, and the Imperial Remnant wanted even more power now. Whether or not the cost would be worth it remained to be seen...

The hazy clouds of Mahporeem began to part as the rumbling of ion drives grew louder.

A lone transport shuttle was the first to appear, quickly followed by half a squadron of TIE/SK starfighters. All seven ships were locked onto the array of landing platforms that laid ahead. The faint outline of the AT-CTs could be made out from the shuttle's viewport. It looked as if the Imperial Remnant were holding up their end of the deal...so far.

The pirate had not been in control of the Black Market for very long. Pyrrah Tae, the former head marketeer and leader of The Exchange, was terminated on Hoth when evacuating a storehouse. Threats of the Sith prompted this evacuation. All of the goods were recovered and placed into the hands of Bodan as a contingency plan. Jolly Walker, the Quartermaster of The Exchange, was now in charge of the syndicate, serving underneath Bodan. The pirate's private schemes were building up the criminal organization's power once again to take it back from the old man. But for now, his connections to the Imperial Remnant, along with Rohnar's, would prevent this coup advancement from progressing.

In high orbit, a Quasar Fire-class Light Carrier sat idly, flanked by two Sepulcher-class Strike Carriers. If the partnership were to be confirmed, the Quasar would touch down planetside, loading up the walkers. But for now, they waited.

Hisses emitted from all sets of landing gear as the small convoy of ships touched down. He saw the imposing man standing there with an array of soldiers accompanying. Smart. The back shuttle hatch slowly opened as Jolly walked down, shadowed by mercenaries of various species.

"Ah...Mr. Tane. A pleasure to make your acquaintance."

Crossing his arm across his chest, Jolly offered a half bow of greeting.

"I must say, this is quite the planet you have. Sure to be a fine place if our operations were to partner."

It seemed that this Jolly Walker Jolly Walker was truly a man and alien just full of surprises.

Before he had even broken atmosphere, Mahporeenian comms were abuzz with descriptions of the starfighters and capital ships that were accompanying him. A half squadron of TIE/SK starfighters of all things were escorting his shuttle, as a Quasar Fire-class Light Carrier and two Sepulcher-class Strike Carriers held position around Mahporeem's orbit. It was a hell of an escort for a "business deal", Ronhar thought, though given the nature of the cargo being transported to the planet, such heavy security was entirely understandable, though unnecessary, as the Imperial Remnant was more than prepared to ensure a smooth transfer of goods to and from the planet.

In response, a single Impressor-class Acclamator and a Disruptor-class Ion Cannon Carrier began shadowing the capital ships that Jolly Walker Jolly Walker had brought with him. Large enough to easily overpower his vessels but not so intimidating that they would run off at the sight of them, the Mahporeenian strike team was prepared to deal with any situation that might arise from Walker's visit, whether that meant disabling his ships before they had a chance to flee, or destroying them outright should the situation call for it.

As Walker's shuttle and escorts broke through the clouds of Mahporeem's atmosphere, a full squadron of X3-A Strikers and a single TIE/ew flew out to meet them, directing them to the nearest landing zone without incident. It touched down, and after a few minutes, Walker and his men came into sight.

"Ah...Mr. Tane. A pleasure to make your acquaintance. I must say, this is quite the planet you have. Sure to be a fine place if our operations were to partner."

Ronhar nearly gave a chuckle at the phrase "fine planet" as anyone who had been on Mahporeem for more than a few hours would surely change their mind after witnessing all the salvage and debris sitting around the planet. Still, at least he was attempting some form of flattery, and Ronhar was only sure that the crime lord would only try to manipulate him more the longer the meeting went on. That was too be expected, of course. But regardless, this meeting would be all for naught if Walker couldn't deliver on his promises, and Ronhar was quite eager to inspect whatever it was that he had brought with him.

"No need for theatrics, Mr. Walker", Ronhar replied curtly as his men took position around him. "We need not get ahead of ourselves. I'm sure you, just like I, am rather eager to begin negotiations about the future of your 'business endeavors'. They'll be plenty of time to celebrate after we've come to an arrangement. For now, however, I'd like to see the wares that you've brought with you, and then we can talk in a more appropriate setting."

Master of the Hyperspace Seas

It came as no surprise that ships of the Imperial's own met the pirate's.

The cybernetic implant within Jolly's ear connected him with his crew in orbit. The man was informed that the Impressor-class Acclamator and the Disruptor-class Ion Cannon Carrier were shadowing his own micro fleet. Understandable. A man of his infamy would garner an audience like this quite easily.

Ronhar's stern and stoic character was not hard to understand after only a few minutes. When you have been in this business for as long as Jolly had, all people start to fall into certain archetypes. It's what allowed the man to become such a master negotiator. Yet as cocky as he was, he knew the right time and place to flaunt his cards. Snapping his fingers, a droid began to make its way towards the group. In front of it was a hover-cart carrying the requested items.

"Very well Mr. Tane, as you wish."

The droid pushed the cart right next to Jolly, leaving it there once it was parallel to the man. Two crates were resting there, both locked by a datapad code. Placing his hand on the screen, a green line scanned his palm before quickly unlocking. Offering a sly smile, the pirate reached into the first crate, lifting out a shining garment.

"The Tashai Coat of Coins. Multiple millennia old and ripe with Sith alchemy. The perfect armor piece for the greatest duelists around."

Setting the coat back into the open crate, Jolly reached his hand into the second box, lifting out a triangular device.

"The Wayfinder of Riches. I was a part of the crew that acquired these on a Sith depo raid. Powerful little navigators that lead to stashhouses full of treasure. This is one of the last remaining wayfinders that leads to an unlooted collection, so you are in luck."

Placing the wayfinder back into the crate, the pirate turned his attention back to the man. Jolly, so far, had held up his end of the deal. Now it was time for Ronhar.

It was a good thing that Ronhar was wearing a helmet, because if he hadn't been, Jolly Walker Jolly Walker would have been able to see the literal credit signs appearing in Ronhar's eyeballs.

"The Tashai Coat of Coins. Multiple millennia old and ripe with Sith alchemy. The perfect armor piece for the greatest duelists around."

That was the armor that Ronhar had taken a personal interest in, for a variety of different reasons. As a avid collector of unusual, antiquated, and obsolete items, a coat equipped with dozens of ancient, alchemized Sith coins seemed right up Ronhar's wheelhouse, and that wasn't even considering the protective qualities of the item itself. Ronhar often found that his Cybernetic arms, while durable, were liable to being damaged or destroyed, yet he didn't want to lose out on any of the benefits that such arms brought by weighing them down with heavy armor. The Tashai Coat of Coins would solve this problem rather nicely for Ronhar, giving him the arm protection he sought without impacting his overall performance. Most importantly, he could still wear his Mk 45 Protective Vest over the coat to protect the sections without any coins sewn in.

He had to admit, however, that it was the second item that Jolly Walker Jolly Walker brought out that really excited him the most!

"The Wayfinder of Riches. I was a part of the crew that acquired these on a Sith depo raid. Powerful little navigators that lead to stashhouses full of treasure. This is one of the last remaining wayfinders that leads to an unlooted collection, so you are in luck."

That was what Ronhar really coveted the most. Sith artifacts were powerful but difficult to come by, and to think there was a vault full of them just waiting to be claimed almost made Ronhar giddy with glee. But, he had to pace himself, and he couldn't allow himself to appear to excited or eager, lest Walker ramp up the price of the items even more than he was going to. Plus, Ronhar had to verify that the items were indeed real and noot cleverly designed replicas or fakes.

It was time for the Junkyard Knights to earn their pay!

"Gentlemen, if you would", Ronhar said as he glanced toward the three knights, gesturing at them to approach the artifacts that Walker had brought out. They obliged him, stopping a few feet away from Walker as they began casting Force Sense onto the items that he had brought.

"Well?", Ronhar asked impatiently. The head knight dropped his hands and turned to Ronhar to report what he had sensed.

"These items have a rather strong sense of the Dark Side, Captain Tane. I'm not sure I would call them 'nefarious' or 'malignant' per say, but its certainly isn't a good feeling. If I'm being honest, I don't think you should accept these items at all, Captain. They could very well have a corrupting influence-".

"Thank you, Knight-Commander. That will be more than sufficient", Ronhar interrupted as he turned back to deal with Walker.

"As you wish, sir", the Knight muttered quietly as he and his companions fell back into line. Overhead, the MIN Night Reaver began to descend toward Ronhar and Walker, prepared to take them both to Concord Spire to finalize the details of their arrangement.

"Mr. Walker, you certainly do appear to be a man of your word. I have transport waiting to ferry us to Concord Spire, where we can partake in some light refreshments before we finalize the details of our arrangement. Come, let us climb aboard, we have much to discuss".

Assuming Walker followed Ronhar, the Night Reaver would arrive at Concord Spire in just a few minutes, and Walker would be ushered into one of its meeting rooms to be greeted by a host of beverages that had been laid out for him to choose from.

The scaley equivalent of an eyebrow was raised as Weequay listened to the knight speak.

It was interesting, to say the least. Hearing the concerns voiced by the warrior. Yes, the items he had brought here today were by no means timid. They each held their own unique properties. Sinister ones at that. But that is what made business all the more enjoyable. Curating antiques and goods from all across the galaxy, selling them to the highest bidder. It was a profitable life.

His eyes followed the vessel as it descended towards the group. Turning back to some of his men, he gave them instructions to stay here and guard items until the deal had been finalized. The new Quartermaster of the group was going to be in charge. They would also be the one to give the signal to drop the Quasar onto the planet when the time came to load the AT-CTs.

"Keys, Vrask, on me."

A Zeltron and a Trandoshan followed Jolly onto the shuttle as they prepared for departure.

It would only be a few minutes before the group arrived at spire, making their way to the meeting room. The trio of criminals followed Ronhar inside. Keys and Vrask made their way to the wall, acting as security for Jolly. As for the pirate, he began to survey the layout of refreshments.

"So, Mr. Tane...as you can see, I am a man of my word. The requested goods have been brought here, safe and sound. But now, it is time to discuss your end of the deal."

CAPTAIN RONHAR TANE, TK-3301
CORROX CENTRAL PLAZA
MAHPOREEM

Jolly Walker Jolly Walker had indeed held up his part of the bargain, brining to the planet the rare and dangerous artifacts that he said he would. To the right buyer, they were potentially worth a small fortune. To the Imperial Remnant, they might as well have been priceless, their value incalculable for what Ronhar and the Mahporeenian Armed Forces had in mind. They would surely help the Imperial Remnant tip the balance of power firmly in its favor, especially if Walker could continue acquiring such objects for Ronhar for the foreseeable future.

Now, however? Now was the unpleasant part: formalizing some sort of official deal with pirates and criminals, ones who would surely betray Ronhar in a heartbeat if doing so better suited them and their plans. As if Walker had read Ronhar's mind, he forced the issue:

"So, Mr. Tane...as you can see, I am a man of my word. The requested goods have been brought here, safe and sound. But now, it is time to discuss your end of the deal."

"You certainly are, Mr. Walker", Ronhar agreed as he he sat down nonchalantly, acting as if he had all the time in the world to think about what was being offered to him. "But so am I", Ronhar remarked sharply as his gaze turned directly to Walker. "I'm sure you noticed the AT-CTs that you had requested all lined up for you, five of them in total. Those walkers, while designed to be relatively affordable, still represent a significant investment into your business dealings and continued, long term success. Of course, acquiring more of those walkers would prove to be a trivial task for the Imperial Remnant, just as acquiring your 'artifacts' is a trivial task for you. In other words, the Imperial Remnant is able to provide you with as much heavy machinery as you might need for any conceivable task or situation."

"But surely you already knew that, did you not? After all, if it were machinery you were after, than you could have gone or stolen from any one of several dozen companies operating throughout the Outer Rim. The fact that you haven't and instead have come to me directly tells me you wish for a more...profitable business arrangement, do you not? Mahporeem certainly wishes for one, which is why were are having these talks at all."

Ronhar decided that there was no reason to beat around the bush any further. It was far better to be direct with these kinds of things, especially with what was on the line with this meeting.

"You want to use Mahporeem as a base of operations for the Black Market." To Ronhar, what he said was simply a fact and statement, a declaration of intent for what Jolly Walker Jolly Walker wished to do. There was nothing in his tone that could be described as judgemental or condescending, he was simply speaking about what Walker wanted to do with his wares and his business. Ronhar let his statement hang in the air as he waited for Walker to respond, eager to see if he would continue with his proposal to host the Black Market on Mahporeem or change his mind. If Ronhar was lucky, it would be the former option...

Master of the Hyperspace Seas

A sly smile crept onto Jolly's lips.

"Ah, it seems as if I have shown my hand too early."

The pirate let out a small chuckle at the situation. The Imperial was right; if Jolly did want to steal the AT-CT walkers, he would have done so by now. And with ease. It was rare that he actually made deals for items rather than plunder them for his own. However, there was more at stake here than just a few walkers. Years worth of profit could be made.

As far as Ronhar was concerned, Jolly did want to move his base of operations to Mahporeem. Underneath the cover of the imperials, the Black Market could work with little traceability. Plus, there was more organized firepower than the former Exchange currently had. Right now, a majority of the syndicate's assets were stored on Ravelin, Bastion, home of Bodan Bodan . Corva Yag used to host the crime group before the Sith invasion roughly a decade ago. Now with the Galactic Planeshift disrupting every star system, the planet was free once again.

However, all things considered, Jolly was not ready to commit the Black Market to Mahporeem. A large portion of the operation, yes, but not full placement. That would be determined at a later date, proving that the Imperials were a profitable partner.

"This planet would be ideal for my business. Along with the technological might of your operations, the Black Market could expand into regions yet to be explored. I use the vessels you Imperials have for plundering and salvage work, collecting more goods for the market. You, in turn, would have access to a plethora more of unique items that I was to acquire. It is a win-win."

Grabbing a glass off of the table, the pirate poured himself a fine whiskey that sat in front of him. He raised the sweet liquor to his lips, polishing of the cup in one gulp.

"There would be a transition period, of course, but I could have supplies and workers here within weeks. Credits would be rolling in soon after that. Oba Diah has been a launching point for my operation for quite some time, so we can utilize that as a stationing point for even further expansion into the Outer Rim. I have plenty more proposals that we can discuss further, unless you have any reservations that you would like to voice."

A sly smile creased the edge's of Ronhar's mouth as Jolly Walker Jolly Walker began to make his sales pitch.

It seemed that Ronhar's intuition had been spot on about the pirate, as he started to launch into his reasoning for wanting to meet with Ronhar in the first place. He was right, of course, about this whole business venture. It truly was, as far Ronhar could tell, a "win-win" situation for everyone involved here. Jolly Walker Jolly Walker would benefit from Imperial protection, and in exchange, the Imperial Remnant would have first pick of the rare and valuable items that Walker could source, items normally impossible or at the very least incredibly difficult to find throughout the galaxy. Sure, there was some inherent risk involved, especially if Walker's criminal connections decided that their long term rival was better off no longer alive, but Ronhar was extremely confident that the Imperial Remnant could easily drive off any pirate attacks while simultaneously keeping Walker breathing for as long as possible. Evidently, Walker agreed, saying:

"There would be a transition period, of course, but I could have supplies and workers here within weeks. Credits would be rolling in soon after that. Oba Diah has been a launching point for my operation for quite some time, so we can utilize that as a stationing point for even further expansion into the Outer Rim. I have plenty more proposals that we can discuss further, unless you have any reservations that you would like to voice."

Much as Ronhar has suspected, Walker was eager to begin moving along with the operation, which Ronhar certainly couldn't blame him for. After all, the longer they waited to come to a decision, the more likely it was that Walker would take his operations elsewhere or something...unfortunate might happen to him, which would be very much to the Imperial Remnant's detriment.

"I'm quite open to any other proposals you may have", Ronhar began as he copied Walker in pouring himself a glass of whiskey. "We appreciate your understanding of the urgency of the situation, and we have no reservations about you beginning operations here on the planet. As for Imperial assets, we can hammer out specifics later, but broadly speaking we are happy to provide the heavy equipment that you would require for this endeavor. All in all, I think our relationship will prove to be quite the mutually beneficial one."

Ronhar removed his helmet, and setting it aside on the table, he then raised his glass.

"The Mahporeem Imperial Remnant accepts your proposal to host the Black Market here on the planet. Before we continued, how about a toast to our future successes, and the ludicrous amount of credits that were are sure to make?"

Master of the Hyperspace Seas

"Good...very good."

Hearing that almost all of the Imperial assets would be at his disposal was music to his ears. All of that technological might would make his operation run very smoothly and efficiently. People are hard-pressed to stand and fight when a Destroyer enters into their system. A bloodbath would occur...only if necessary. Or it the day needed some spicing up.

"The Black Market accepts your proposal of partnership with the Mahporeem Imperial Remenant."

After locating a fresh glass of whiskey on the table, the pirate raised it in the air, matching Ronhar's toast.

"To loot, longevity, and the pursuit of credits."

And with that, the men drank.

Standing against the wall, the Zeltron sent a message to the ground crew, who would then send a message to the wider operational units. It was time to start moving assets in. There was profit to be made.

Sorry for the long delay in reply. Life hit and I got super busy. I understand if you are done with this thread, but I would love to keep writing with you in the future.
