Game What Inspired Your Character?

Good luck making sense of this, LOL

Dorthea Dobson

Chief Director of Damascus Station
This character has been shelved, badly, but I enjoy sharing this story.

Originally, Dorthea was intended to be a supporting character in an effort to spice up the culture of the crew of my main character's ship. Writing her, I chose to emulate an in-law that me and my wife often imitate in good jest. What I didn't expect was that she'd be so much fun to play that I ended up using her in almost everything. So she eventually became one of my mains.

The problem with writing her is that her personality tends to demand that I write her a certain way, and she can be a little cringy sometimes. She's great for generating tension though...

unintentionally wandering into looking at bios of older mandos still around from about half a century ago, IC

then remembering Rekali history

that was the spark for some hours of research/further remembering and note-taking to create this guy

that's it, that's all lol

Conan the Barbarian - "Let me live deep while I live." that shit just speaks to her fr

Dark Lily (Legend 1980) - Girl who gets tempted to be an evil goddess but ultimately refuses? Literally Eloise. Also "I do nothing for your pleasure." what a queen

Ishida Ashina Ishida Ashina - I really loved reading and writing with this character back when she was still active. The idea of a hard and angry Jedi girl intrigued me, and that interest was the seed from which Eloise sprung.

Karlach (Baldur's Gate 3) - Eloise is not as... buoyant as Karlach, but I liked the way she's portrayed as hotheaded and passionate but still a good person.

My friend from high school - Obviously I'm not going to post her info, but a lot of Eloise's personality was based on her. Particularly her blunt honesty, jealousy and sensitivity. She also had shitty parents, they didn't eat anyone obviously but her mother was in prison for most of her childhood and her dad was emotionally abusive.

Jack (Mass Effect) - Angry instigator with superpowers, yep that tracks
