Welcome to the Tundra

Walking the Path to Redemption
Lilythe was in a large clearing in the woods a short distance from her cabin. The ranger had converted the area into a shooting range to practice with her bow. She grabbed and arrow from her quiver and took up a position at the edge of the clearing. She held the bow in her right hand and slowly raised it while pulling the arrow back. The limbs creaked slightly and she smirked. Her joy was short lived though, as the strain from trying to pull the string back was too much for her non-dominant hand. The string slapped against her arm as her grip slipped, causing the arrow to simply to flop a short distance forward and roll across the ice that topped the snow in the clearing.

"DAMN IT! What's the point in staying here if I can't even fight anymore. I can't shoot with my left hand. I've been trying for weeks and it's not working!" the angry forest-dweller screamed, throwing her bow to the ground and glaring up at the sky. 'WHAT THE HELL DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS?!" Taeli had been curious about a small out of the way planet that she had heard wasn't all that advanced in technology yet. Looking to study the place and figure out why they were the way they were, she had landed her ship with the cloaking device still enabled and begun a small observation of the natives. She hadn't expected the cold so she was all dressed up in Jedi winter gear whenever she left her ship.

She was on the last day of her initial observations, currently in the forest near her ship when she heard a very loud voice yelling at the top of their lungs. Well sounded like someone was having a bad day. Moving through the trees, she could see a young woman quite frustrated with herself apparently.

"Problem?" Taeli asked, untying her scarf so it hung around her shoulders.

"My very existence is a problem lately," Lilythe growled, spinning around to face the woman. Her bow was still grasped in her left hand, not that it would do her much good. She frowned a bit as she observed Taeli. Ever since the planet's discovery, strange people from all over the galaxy had been appearing, curious about the planet. It had caused quite a few problems, and Lilythe was hoping this woman wasn't the kind to cause trouble for her.

"You're not from here are you? Fair warning, I'm the lawkeeper here. You do anything stupid, you answer to me. We've had plenty of off-world visitors coming here and stirring up trouble. Please don't be one of them," Lilythe sounded more tired than threatening. With the injury she had suffered fighting off that giant bear, she really couldn't do much anymore. Sure she could wield a dagger with her left hand decently enough, but the bow was her main weapon. Without her right arm, she felt useless. [member="Taeli Raaf"]

"I'm just a simple researcher studying the planet and its people," Taeli replied, then snapped her fingers. "Oh I guess I'm also a Jedi Master, so there is that as well, but I'm a researcher first and foremost. You don't have to worry about me causing any trouble."

Pulling her glasses out, she smiled even at the raised weapons. Running a quick medical scan of the girl, even though the Force told her it was more bravado than an actual threat, she found a few problems with the girl's right arm and hand.

"So, what happened to your arm?" she asked, taking her glasses off again and putting them in their protective cover. "Bet that makes it really hard to use that bow or other weapons."

"Why do you care? It can't be fixed... I just have to learn to use the other arm... Maybe find a new weapon..." Lilythe shied away from the question, feeling a bit defensive. She didn't like admitting that she wasn't as much of a threat as she used to be. With the severe nerve and muscle damage the gash to her arm and shoulder had caused, she was a shadow of her former self. She gripped her bow a little tighter, finding it's presence comforting. "I got hurt... That's all." [member="Taeli Raaf"]

"Okay? And . . . oh, sorry," Taeli said, facepalming. "Sorry, I forget the medical technology we have is a lot more advanced than anything here so nerve and muscle damage is rather easy to fix. Come to think of it, most of our technology is beyond anything on this world. Sorry, I'm being blunt aren't I? Anywho, if you ever wanted, I'm sure you could find someone willing to take you off world to get your arm fixed . . . and maybe get a new bow."

"I don't mix well with people... I doubt anyone would take me to get it fixed. Arthur... a friend of mine... was supposed to arrange for me to go somewhere to get it fixed but he's been busy," Lilythe explained, slinging her bow over her shoulder and crossing her arms. She blushed a bit when she mentioned Arthur. Adjusting to their new relationship was a bit... odd for her. She wasn't quite sure what to make of it, but now wasn't the time to contemplate her relationship status. "Unless you're offering, I'm stuck. And I'm not so sure about a new bow... Do bows even exist in other parts of the galaxy?" [member="Taeli Raaf"]

"I would certainly be willing to help you," she replied. "Although I do warn you, once you leave your planet, you might not want to come back anytime soon. The galaxy can be a fascinating place after all. As for bows, there are such things as energy bows that shoot arrows made of pure energy at a target."

Smiling a bit, Taeli gestured with her hand that the girl could come along.

"Oh, I suppose I should ask, what's your name?"

"Energy bows... Well that certainly sounds fun. I'm certain I'll want to return quickly though... I'll miss Arthur too much," Lilythe replied blushing once again. When Taeli asked for a name she hesitated for a moment before replying.

"Lilythe, my name is Lilythe," she finally spoke up after a few moments. Taeli had offered to help her, the least could do was give her name. She followed her through the snow and gasped at the site of the ship. [member="Taeli Raaf"]
