we could live like legends [Mandragora, CIS]

Secluded section of the Library, Ryloth

Katrine had made a new friend, and that new friend was called Grace. Also kept watch over the Grimoire. Now, normally, Katrine would go to Nona if she wanted to see the family magical tome or her aunt Kytarra if she wanted to see the Book of Law but Grace seemed to be in charge of all the special things in the Mandragora so once the blond found that out, she'd naturaly gone and asked her because the Grimoire was uncharted territory which Kat had ben itching to explore from the moment she'd laid her eyes on her. That is where she'd been for the past day, reading through the magical tome and scribing little notes into her own small spellbook.

At some point, Katrine had actually gone to sleep though her hyperactivity to find out everything was telling her not to. Naturally, a couple of hours of sleep and she was back in fresh new shiny clothes and ready to keep studying the book. Her biggest interest was on the magick itself though, however once she had arrived to it, Katrine understood why her imaginary friend had been so knowledgeable about Dathomiri magic in the first place though the Grimoire was somewhat outdated in some of it aspects though in some, it was strangely up to date. It therefore made all the sense in the galaxy why Kat had been drawn to the book itself and why Ceta, the first of the Dathomiri Hawks had naturally fallen among the other Witches of Kat's home planet.

Having found out so much about the Grimoire, Katrine contacted the Nightmother, requesting for others to come learn with her about the Mandragora. This book was rightfully theirs as it was her now though as any magical tome, it was under the guide primarily of the Nightmother so it was only right for Tmoxin Temi herself to summon others rather than Kat. Besides, with the book arriving into their possession only recently, none of them had truly had the time to fully study it and even explore more about the magical aspect of the division. This seemed like a decent time to do it. Some of them might have not had that very magical background Katrine had had.

Right in that very moment, she was standing at the long table of a secluded area of the library, not making any use of the technology or the available literature as she held the Grimoire opened on its stand upon the table, with her spellbook opened beside it.

Tag to all of Mandragora! Also tag to other Force Users within the faction in case you haven't joined us yet but want to. The full tags will be given once so if your character doesn't have interest in picking up some Dathomiri magic knowledge, feel free to ignore. Everyone else, let's have some fun!

Magic. Akabane even now was skeptical of the powers known as magic. Believing in such a thing only made him feel foolish. Though to be fair the force could be seen that way by users of magic. He just didn't fully understand how it worked, he had an idea. Something like chanting words from another language, right? he thought taking a guess. Akabane knew somewhat of the origin of such rumoured powers, he never really looked into it until he got involved. It was strange to him though, in all of this doubt he did want to learn about it. He owed it to Doashim after all, the one who returned Akabane from the past to him. Magic, he wanted to confirm it was real as well. That day, the time he made contact with the tome which definitely contained powers, it changed him.

Discovering new powers and learning how to use them was something Akabane did frequently since coming to the CIS. Magic may be more tedious for him compared to others, mainly because the confidence isn't all there. He was always open to trying new things and usually didn't go in with full confidence, but this was different. It was something he couldn't explain, he was hoping today would change that. When Akabane recieved an invitation to study magic on Ryloth, he wasted no time in heading there. Still lacking even the littlest knowledge of magic he wondered if his ignorance would be forgiven.

Akabane punched in the coordinates he recieved in the message and took off in his ship towards Ryloth. This could also be a chance to meet new people while learning at the same time. He knew of many people in the CIS but the issue is that he didn't actually get to know them personally. Master Metus was the only exception because he trained Akabane regularly. Other than him, he needed to work on making new friends. Killing two birds with one stone, eh?

As he made to the location, he could tell it was the right place. Smirking, he mumbled something. "Let's go do some magic." Joking about it was probably disrespectful so he knew not to joke around the others. He couldn't help himself on the way there though. Akabane exited his ship and walked to the building, wondering how many already were inside. Before going inside he made sure his outfit was straight, even if it was rediculous to wear to this. Akabane thought it would be funny to wear and he chose quickly, so he wasn't embarrassed. Then he went inside to the almost empty area, noticing a seemingly young but familiar girl.

And there it was on the long table - the Grimoire. "Hello there." he said raising his hand and smiling. "Guess I'm not late." he said silently. Usually he was late to these types of things.

When he received the call he wasn't going to wait for the chance to learn more besides the one who asked the nightmother to summon the Mandragora was one of his own coven and one who he was interested in meeting for a while but never had the time to do so, He traveled to the library on Ryloth to head to the wing with his standard armaments sometimes magic requires tools to be used and he wouldn't wish to feel foolish coming unprepared, He wasn't armed to the teeth but simple items where brought with him, He pondered actually using his natural form for the first time since he was chosen but it is a bulky form to be used in such places. He approached the secluded part of the library that [member="Katrine Van-Derveld"] was in reading over the Grimoire with a book of her own right next to it

I must say I was wondering when time would grant the Mandragora the opportunity to learn from our own tomes, I do hope the others come and join us.

He simply took a seat and took note of another that had arrived already before him [member="Akabane Jarvik"] He has not had a chance to meet all the Mandragora but there is always a first time for everything despite how he dressed he would assume the man would have the capability to harness the tome's knowledge if not then it will be sadly a wasted trip for him and a annoyance, But he wont let that bother him he was here to learn not weed out the incompetent from the competent.

Magic. She had heard about the witches and had a hard time understanding their influence and use of what she would call the force. But they didn't. Muadie didn't either much anymore. So. She made up her mind to go and learn more about it.

She loved libraries and learning. She often wondered if she could become a historian of such things. She always felt her path had been determined long ago. But. this was an opportunity for change, for learning. She'd take it.

She cautiously walked into the room and nodded, "Hello." She had a few flaws, one was incredible shyness. She already felt anxiety about being around others without [member="Muad Dib"] her madman was her balance. She felt the heat rise in her face as she pulled out a chair to sit. She hoped she didn't pass out before a single word was spoken.

Magic, the word was synonymous to mysterious and exotic. A combination that intrigued the Sith Lord to no end, as he continued to hone and expand his arsenal. Already one of the most unorthodox duelists in the galaxy, he was also well versed in poisons and living alchemy. But few were aware he was equally talented when it cane to arcane studies. He had studied under the air and earth force masters, developing very unique and dangeous techniques to turn the tide in his favor, as well as some of the more deadly rituals and spells of the Dark Side, including the way to create a Force Storm over a battlefield. It was even rumored but never confirmed, he had made dealings with creatures not of the natural kind.

This time, however, the Zabrak wore a simple dark brown tunic with a simple pin of Red Ravens on his collar. He seemed devoid of weapons save the three sabers which hung from his belt. He was however accompanied by a dark purple barrell looking droid, whose task was to record all his conversations and observations for later study.

Smiling politely at the others, he nodded and said, “I hope you haven’t started without me.”

The library was much larger than the Vahla had originally intended, and that had lead her to simply wandering the halls some days, looking for something or other. Today, it was a record of the Dathomiri and their Force Tradition, and a copy of Mother Talzin's Wild Power. She needed something to cross reference the grimoire's text, as well as her own notes from Cadeus’s holocron. Of course, the woman could have found an electronic copy of either, but there was something about the physical book that just made it easier to find things and share them with others. Yellow eyes found a small, sanguine book barely thicker than her pinkey. Excellent. That was half of that done. She knew that it was around here somewhere...

-----

Lady Psyona approached the group carrying an armful of small books, tomes, papers, essays, and slips of parchment. Maybe she’d been to carried away, but she would have things to reference if needed. Still, it was harder than she’d thought to find sources here. She’d focused so much of her own collection on the Sith, that it was sometimes difficult to find anything else. She’d have to go looking for more writing on the subject after this. Scanning between the others, she frowned at Daxton’s blades. She had specified not to bring weapons in here. Something to be more strict about in the future. Still, most of them were here, waiting expectantly for something. Something only the Lupine could provide.

Their next steps into the arcane.

The Teacher of Many, Master of None
Ser Burton Shaw walked through the halls of the library, lost among the history books as he took one book each and skimmed the title, looking for something. He then heard talking as he walked and just kept searching, but this time for the source of the conversations or whatever was going on.

Nassier was uncomfortable. Horrendously, terribly, so uncomfortable you could see it on her face kind of uncomfortable. Not in any part due to the scenery of this library, nor the company. No, that was all fine and dandy and she was perfectly ready to see what they had to offer. What she didn't like, however, was the sheer amount of clothes she'd been talked into wearing. The loose chemise held in place by corset and armbands, both of which made of earthy leathers, were one thing. The baggy pants, also of earth tones, were tolerable.

But then, there were the shoes. And, even worse, the socks.

This was the horror that the Lylek endured, for the sake of politeness, as she was told by another pact member. How she'd managed to get talked into it, Nassier was uncertain, but she was far from pleased with it. She sat on the floor, not quite patiently waiting for this lesson to begin. Whatever it was, it'd better be good, though she doubted any lesson would be worthy of putting her feet through this torture."Yes, yes, can we get started now?" She called out over the greetings. "I'm sure it's lovely to see all of you, but some of us are wearing shoes so let's get this over with, yes?"

Her head rose at the sound of the first arrival, the joking words reaching her ears before she registered [member="Akabane Jarvik"] attached to it. "Hey, purple," Kat greeted right away, recognizing the guy as the one who had worn a purple suit to the Confederacy party a while back. "I'm Kat," she added with a wave of her hand. They hadn't actually met but you know, purple for a girl who had grown up with purple had left an impression. Wasn't long though before someone else joined, her head turning just a little bit to face the second presence. Kat actually didn't recognize who [member="Rapax"] was as he arrived but in her defense, she had never seen the humanoid looking appearance. "Hey!" Her greeting was still cheerful just as the Force nudged her at the power surrounding him, just enough to let her know said power was beyond her own, which made him no doubt an Elder. He seemed eager to learn from the tome.

"Hope so too," Kat agreed. "The Grimoire had been calling me to study it since the first day," she admitted.

When [member="Arabella Darkhold"] joined them, Kat extended another wave of hand to the brunette. Another face she'd recognized from the Confederacy party, the pretty girl with the blue eyes who was in the presence of pretty boy. It really did occur to her then they could do small introductions when more people arrived 'cos honestly, they didn't really know each other. Next one to join them was [member="Daxton Bane"] . This one she did remember, from that little encounter at the arena. "Nope, we haven't started yet," she answered him. Then finally, someone whose name she did now, [member="Lady Psyona"] had joined. Grace had been helpful when Katrine had wanted to study the Grimoire, even lending them this part of the library for the studies. "Hey, Grace," Kat offered friendly. Another new face followed, [member="Merlin"] Avalonian . Kat definitely didn't know him but she still waved him over to the table to join them.

Someone else spoke, making the blond step away from the Grimoire and explore who it was. That was when she saw [member="Nassier Zirfae"] who was in fact talking about wearing shoes. "Oh, hi. Shoes aren't mandatory for this. Be as bare feet as you wish!" She declared with a big smile before coming back to the head of the table and looking everyone one more time.

"Since we don't know each other, could everyone be so nice as to give their name the first time they speak? I'm Katrine Van-Derveld, a Jart. And also a Dathomiri. And feel free to interrupt me anytime you want to add or ask something." It was a small announcement before she'd actually started before her hand formed into a fist, with a bit of concentration, forcing the stand with the Grimoire to move it with her mind towards the center of the table as her fingers outstretched so more people could see it. "So, our Grimoire has a healthy amount of information about Dathomirian magicks which tells me something someone was trying to teach me before our Mandragora journey began." She was of course, talking about her dead ancestor who had been haunting her, who had once been cast from her pact for her own dark intentions and corruption but that was besides the point. "It tells me that it's the same magic, but their paths have developed differently with time though not that much in truth."

Magic was part of who Kat was, in reality. Same as all Hawks before her, she had gone through her Trial by Fire at young age, learning her first spells on the eve of her trial before her training would truly begin."Magic is not different from the Force. You have to concentrate, you have to know what you want. Being a Witch doesn't mean you're immediately banned from using your powers. Some of our spells will achieve the same thing as powers while others work a little bit different," it was just a little bit of an introduction, all together before Katrine picked up her spell book, flipping through it for a few pages before she landed on a page which was completely, putting it back on the table. Similar to how the Grimoire pages were done and the magical tomes Katrine had studied from on Dathomir, her own was filled with drawings, details and beautifully crafted words. The two pages showed Paecean and Galactic Basic wording, side by side. "You can memorize existing spells or you can come up with your own but concentration is always key. Old witches tend to believe you can only use magic if you're using Paecean but that's bull."

She paused to allow them to look at the much smaller book she'd laid before them. Kat knew already they wouldn't be able to read the Paecean one, unless someone here actually knew the language but they could read the Tempest spell she'd created. "Mother Nature, all that is good, share with me your breath and bring forth the gentle breeze," Katrine began to chant, keeping her voice at normal volume so they could her as she concentrated on the outcome of the light wind. The Tempest spell in its basic form was basic and would cause a light reaction. She releated the same words a second time before she felt the gentle wind tickle at her skin, before it progressed, flipping the page of her spell book as she reached it, flipping onto the next one. The grimoire, with its much thicker pages though didn't move before the effect ended.

Once it had ended, Katrine looked at everyone who was here. The rudamentary spell was more an example than anything else. Somehow, she didn't think starting with the Call Rain spell would be to everyone's liking. "If anyone wants, I can teach you some Paecean but I'm saying you don't need it. The Grimoire only confirms what I've already tried, the way it's readable to anyone because it shouldn't be in Paecean at all and yet I'm reading it in the first language I learned." Katrine knew it wasn't really written in the Dathomiri language so it only showed how diverse and powerful magic truly was. "Questions? Any requests for a spell? We can come up with something too. Spell writing is considered like an art form but not at all impossible with some practice."

Daxton could not help but agree, shoes were overrated. He would love nothing more than to walk barefoot and feeling the planet’s pulse through his feet. Alas, it was not meant to be, the suit he wore was a carefully sewn and tailored containment suit, more for their protection than his. After all the colony of orbalisks that covered his lower torso were now under his mental control, but one should never risk a slip in concentration and his alliess could find themselves in a precarious situation.

Nodding to the others he introduced himself. “My name is Daxton Bane, you may call me Daxton or Bane. But please do not call me Dax, I loathe that name. I am a Zabrak and I represent the interests of the Red Ravens. Like all of you I am a fellow student of the arcane, I have studied ways of elemental magics of air and earth, as well as some of the more esoteric practices like tarot reading and divination. I am willing to teach or perhaps do a reading if that sparks your interest. My doors are always open so all you need to do is ask. I look forward to learning more magic with all of you.”

Wow the teacher waved at her she hoped that was good. As Bella observed she realized the teacher was trying to include everyone, take in everyone and try to get things moving.

She couldn't be a teacher.

Shoes? Was that an option? When did wearing shoes become optional??? hmm odd or...maybe she was missing something. And that wouldn't be the first time she missed something. She failed at understanding forms of humor too. Often landing her in uncomfortable positions and apologizing for her own naiveness.

"I'm Arabella Darkhold, everyone calls me Bella. And [member="Katrine Van-Derveld"] do you mean to say that the words we speak influence how the force" she hoped that was right did they call it the force, "reacts?" She felt like a fish out of water right now looking sheepishly from one face to another wondering if anyone thought her question ridiculous.

The lady that he greeted called him Purple, he was confused at first. Then, he remembered. At the CIS party he wore a flashy suit so he assumed that's why. She introduced herself as Kat. "Nice to meet you, Kat." he said with a half smile. Taking a seat shortly after speaking. Others started arriving, he listened as Kat spoke with them as well. He felt out of place since he didn't know almost all of them. Remembering faces wasn't too hard so he did recognize some.

After everyone settled down Kat said they should introduce them selves. Akabane would wait till the others were done doing their introductions. When the time was right, he'd share his name. "I'm Akabane, Doashim." he kept it short. He tried to keep things brief when around a lot of people. This might make himself look shy but he didnt mind. Akabane wanted to get to know the others here, however the primary objective was to learn.

Kat started talking about the Grimoire and the main topic for today, magick. She said something that Akabane needed to hear, magic and the force are not different. That didn't mean he understood how it worked. A demonstration of sort was given to them. Kat started chanting words and he watched as the book pages flipped. Akabane was surprised by what he saw. "Interesting." he mumbled.

She asked if there were any questions or requests for spells. Of course he had many ideas for spells but one in particular, he wanted to ask about. "I have a request. Is there a spell that can increase body capabilities for a few seconds? For example, one that allows the user to jump higher than usual." he wondered specifically because it'd help with escaping certain situations.

“I may have a spell to suit your needs, my friend.” Daxton Bane replied to [member="Akabane Jarvik"], “It is all Cat’s Paw, and utilizes air spirits to make a sigle jump up to 20 feet in the air, or fall from similar height but land on your feet. I can teach you the spell as well as reagents if you are interested.”

Daxton spoke first after her, giving his introductions and stating he represented the interest of the Red Ravens. "Red Ravens?" She wondered out loud as soon as he'd said it, just slightly confused by the mention since they were all here as Mandragora. He also mentioned studying the ways of elemental magic, along with tarot reading and divination. "That's nice," Katrine gave once he finished, offering additional studies. Next up came Arabella Darkhold or Bella, asking about word influencing the way the Force reacted.

"Yes, in a matter of speaking. First Witches were unable to use the Force the way the Jedi Knight teaching the used it so an alternative was proposed. Words was used to do what a simple usage of powers couldn't. That was a long time ago though, we use powers now but spell casting has has become so embedded into our history that we still use it." Nona had explained the history of magic to her a very long time ago. Katrine could still remember all the many questions she had asked after that, wanting to know more about Allya and their history.

Next up, Purple or well Akabane, as he'd introduced himself, asked about a spell that could increase body capabilities for a few seconds, like jumping higher. Daxton replied before sh had a chance, mentioning something called Cat's Paw which utilized air spirits. That sounded pretty nifty to her but nothing like the Witches taught. "That sounds pretty cool," she shared with Daxton before looking at Akabane. "You can use the Song of Power as well, a spell which is actually a song. You can use it for a number of things but attribute at a time just as jumping higher, seeing better, taking more damage or running faster. Depending on what you want, you sing your own lyrics." Song of Power was pretty diverse in its usage, it was important to know what you wanted to achieve by using it more than anything else.

He observed and listened as [member="Katrine Van-Derveld"] explained her examination of the grimoire and how it operates, He took note of those who came in some he knew some he did not but that did not matter he was here to learn and develop techniques to share with his fellow Jart later down the line. He listened as she described various spells and how the words where used in various incantations and of a spell called the song of power that basically through lyrics of folk songs to jump higher fast or take more damage but other things caught his attention instead. ''Is there away to learn how to manipulate the environment you are in using some of these spells?'' It would prove useful if such spells were taught and utilized being a master over your own battlefield no matter the field, He didn't expect the answere to be yes...or no but it never hurts to ask and since his was about the more ...natural form of spell crafting he decided to shed the humanoid form he was using and use his natural werewolf like form it felt fitting to learn spells the thing which the very nature of the force dark or light in a more..natural state.
