We Can Help (GA Dominion of Thyferra)

Proxima-b-Photo-by-sciencealert.com-Courtesy-of-Google.jpg
From a distance, Thyferra didn't look that bad. The greenery might have disappeared, but water was still visible on the surface. The atmosphere was intact, it even looked like clouds were forming. It was only once someone got closer that the true devastation visited on the world by the Sith became clear. Clouds became giant ash storms rolling across the surface. Spots of water were oceans and rivers heavily polluted by the destruction. Cities were rubble, choked by debris, ash, and leftover radiation from the bombardment and ruptured reactors. It was a true hellscape.

And even then... a certain determination had been born from it. In orbit, the Galactic Alliance had established Phoenix Station to help begin restoration of the planet. The Thyferran government, what was left of it, had stationed themselves on the station. Contact had been established with small groups of surviving Vratix on the surface, while many of the natives had begun to return from across the galaxy to help their homeworld. But even on the station, some try to take advantage of suffering. A small criminal element has popped up on the station, taking supplies and hoarding them for themselves or selling them to desperate colonists for an exorbitant price.

The Alliance has promised to help the Vratix deal with the issue, and to speed up the restoration efforts... and one more thing. Samples and equipment needed to restart bacta production survived the bombardment in one of Zaltin Corporation's facilities. However, the security droids and measures have gone haywire, killing any teams sent to try and retrieve what is being guarded. The situation requires a stronger touch than the security teams the corporation or government currently has.

Objectives:
  1. Begin the process of rehabilitating the planet, in any way you can contribute. It can be as easy as bringing supplies to survivors, beginning terraforming, etc. If someone has a GA-friendly company, they can consider work done in the course of this thread as a contract (five posts) or sponsorship (ten posts) with the GA.
  2. Someone has been skimming restoration supplies on Phoenix Station. Find out who and put a stop to such criminal activity.
  3. Delve into the Zaltin facility to retrieve the bacta samples and equipment for bringing back to Phoenix Station.
  4. As always, BYOO

Thyferra. The one place where she prominently ran medvac in addition to fighting the Sith and Imperials, while being effectively sandwiched between them. From a strategic standpoint, it was a Pyrrhic defeat, even though she destroyed two enemy capital ships to hers' zero. She wasn't technically defeated per se, just that the Vratix sold out the planet to the Sith when their homeworld was under fire. Luckily for the Alliance's supply of bacta, she was able to secure a deal with the Silver Engineering Corporation for an order of hospital ships that also included schematics, despite the tensions that ran high across the Alliance High Command back then. With the cargo of patients unloaded on Inysh, which was the mission that got her to become the commander-in-chief of the Alliance medvac, and the medical supplies loaded on the medical convoy, with escorts provided by another party within the Alliance, she gets ready to start with the medical supplies: they are more crucial even though they are simply a stopgap until social housing is rebuilt. The Alliance is grateful for me as it pertains to medvac, to the extent they are more sensitive to personal drama than logistical drama, even though addressing logistical drama can help prevent personal drama, she thought.

"Let's finish the job we started on Thyferra: lightspeed!"

Savannah Elko hadn’t been back home since she evacuated. She knew that there was a large wreckage, and depending who she listened to depended on where the blame went. She knew it was the Sith who attacked, by the Alliance had fired on a ship in a strange location. She shook her head. It didn’t matter. What did matter was that she was able to get back on her planet. And the Alliance was sending a lot of teams to help.

Sav was leading a part of the Jedi Service Corps down to the planet. They were working on restoring some of the plains outside the city, and begin healing the world.

From what she learned from [member="Taeli Raaf"] ‘s journals, and the light sided alchemists, she was hoping she could expand her offerings. The Force was growing with the padawan and she had landed in one of the Jedi shuttles on the planet. The AgriCorps members were reaching out to the planet and feeling the destruction, and Sav followed suit.

There were burned areas in the soil, and all around the planet. Other companies were working on salvaging the wrecks, and when they were moved? The Jedi would get to work.

The Alliance was really good for one thing.

Breaking stuff.

And broken stuff? Well, that was good for business. Kaia Starchaser, the current acting Operations Manager of Starchaser Enterprises was entering Alliance space with a few salvage vessels. She had contacted the Alliance, not through her father, but another party, to ensure their assistance was allowed on the world. They were greeted with an overwhelming approval and appreciation for support.

The larger vessel, the Gentes-freighter, remained in orbit, and smaller vessels, equipped with salvage torches and tractor beams were being dispatched into the atmosphere. She herself was in her YT-2400 in the upper atmosphere, watching the other vessels. “So the Jedi are dispatching to the plains south of the city. Lets get some teams in there to move the wrecks, if we can get it into the zero-g, the Gentes can handle breaking it up.” She looked at her scanners as she paced the main chamber of her freighter.

The crew, a mixture of humans and aliens, were carrying on their tasks, linking the ships to the Gentes and following orders coming from the Alliance.

This world was too important for a friendly government to not have a handle on.

Hephaestus-class Factory Ship Lucerne Venture, nearing Thyferra

"What a mess."

Gir spared a glance up from the holo-projector, "You read the reports, didn't you?"

The gotal engineer hesitated, which briefly caused Gir to smile. That smile quickly faded as he recalled their near-legendary ability to read emotions through the use of their horns. Composure returned to Gir quite quickly, though he still expected a retort or some other comment to come his way. It didn't. Gir decided to chalk that up to the engineer constantly being stuck in space with mostly droids for company.

"I suppose...I just didn't expect it to be like this."

"The Sith aren't exactly known for creating paradises," said the blonde man, "at least not where one already exists."

"I'm not sure if I would Thyferra a paradise before the Sith came...come to think of you though, you prefer the tropics, do you not?"

"I like change of pace from the cold, artificial environment of starships."

The gotal hesitated, "I had not considered that."

"Well, I'm certain that you'll get a chance to do that if you want to. There looks to be plenty of work to do on the world..."

Objective 1: Help begin terraforming process

If there was thing she knew Kaine Zambrano was really good at it, it was the devastation of worlds. Walking on the surface of what had once been a humid jungle, Taeli had a better appreciation of the destruction wrought by his Defoliation-class Battlecruisers. Ash and barren land as far as the eye could see, rubble occasionally poking out of the landscape or a crashed ship. It was going to take a lot of work to get this planet truly habitable again, even with the few small restoration zones established in the closest sectors to Phoenix Station.

And while she could enjoy a good destructive cleansing, today she had to play the part of both Jedi Master and corporate CEO. She had decided to unveil, or test depending on one's viewpoint, a few new technologies her company had begun developing as part of their Project Starbright. Rejuvenating Lydrax was still taking time, and while the technology was still being developed there, she wanted field tests elsewhere to see if the same effects could be achieved.

As the rest of the Aurora teams began arriving to set up their base camp for testing, she hoped the events of today... and those previously would be enough to push her endgame over the top.

"Ma'am, we're ready to begin."

"We have arrived in Thyferra's orbit" the pilot of the Pharmacokinetics reported back to Cathul.

"Start deploying the ambulances; locate any injured survivors and bring them to the hospital ships for treatment!"

Now that the medical convoy was en route to Thyferra, she would find that others were already there, such as [member="Gir Quee"] and [member="Taeli Raaf"], getting started in deploying their wares in an attempt to help the Vratix and the reconstruction of their homeworld. A disaster, an ecological disaster. Much destruction, especially around Xozhixi and Xucphra, and their related suburbs; in the latter location, there were two capital ship wrecks, the two capital ships that the Sith lost in this campaign. So any survivors would probably be found in the wilds, some distance from the cities. Meanwhile, the 96 ambulances began swarming out of the three hospital ships, laden with medical supplies and equipment. Unfortunately, even with Vero's ability to produce kolto, kolto and bacta were still rationed, which meant that they had to use different supplies and methods - which, in turn, may be providing healthcare of subpar quality. This is where the difference in bacta supply will become clear in our ability to actually provide the healthcare in an emergency medicine context, she thought, while the ambulances start going down into atmosphere.

Fiolette drew the Black Label cigarra away from her lips, a hand behind her back, "run the numbers again."

Farrah put the scan out again, "scanning - analyzing and there."

"I see." Her voice was stale, almost cold. Galeway turned her attention and focused on the former grand admiral, forward operations went silent. She turned away from the main screen and tipped the ash off the end of the cigarra. "We'll start with an orbital weather station, and translate that into a geological station on the surface."

"But it won't be free, I imagine," Dansen chimed.

Fiolette grinned and brought the cigarra back to her lips.

Objective 1

Being back home was definitely odd. The Jedi ServiceCorps team had landed nearby the large wreck. This was a region of the world that she had visited as a child, but nothing stood out in any particular fashion for her. It was just a place, it wasn’t home, and it wasn’t a treasured memory. But it was someone’s home, someone’s memory. And even if they were not here, she knew, based on the actions of the coming weeks and months, it would become someone’s home again.

Someone’s new memory.

The Jedi had touched down and she followed the Knights and Masters. A Padawan herself, still, she was not going to attempt to step on any toes. She reached out to the Force as she was lead down the ramp.

“We are going to work on finding what areas need healing. The Service Corps have several Jedi suited for this. We are part of a… vanguard team, of sorts. We locate areas that need the healing, or other skillsets. I understand you are working on finding your way through the Force and being an artisan and alchemist?” The Sullustan Jedi Master asked.

“That is correct. Master Starchaser has had me pairing up with alchemists. To further enhance the Jedi goals.” She smiled, looking around. “This was my homeworld. Parts feel so… different now. So broken.”

“That is why we are here. Join us now, we’ll feel the world, and start to do what we can while teams assemble.” The Jedi motioned for Savannah to sit with them.

Objective 1

She could keep repairing these worlds as fast as the Alliance broke them. Smiling, the dark haired girl was in her element. Sure, she would prefer to be blazing a new hyperlane, but for now? This would work. Stepping up to the holographic map, she nodded. “We need to move this larger chunk. Send some of the drones over here. I want them putting on beacons for the Gentes.” She ordered as she spun the map, interacting to her hand motions.

“Once this is lifted from the planet, lets deploy some pre-fabricated shelters at these locations.” She pointed on the map to the ground that was still solid outside of the crash site, and away from where the Jedi Service Corps were doing their thing. She wasn’t the best Jedi, not now, and not compared to the New Jedi Order, but she was still a Jedi.

She was not going to interrupt her own writer’s other story those who were using their powers to rehabilitate. She preferred to use the vessels at her disposal. It just made things a whole lot easier. Probably also, because her father had been garbage at teaching her the finer parts of being a Jedi. Or that her family was firmly on the light-gray scale, an some powers were just… off limits.

Shrugging, the spacer nodded. “Lets get moving.”

"It'll be heavily modified but one of the old Kleve stations should be able to do the trick," Fiolette started as she sat in the conference room with her team, "we can establish it in the orbit of Thyferra and issue out a renter's fee for the use of the station to the Galactic Alliance."

"On top of the other fees?"

"It's not cheap to turn a ball of ash back into what it was before," she countered, "but it'll work right?"

Mostly.

She'd have to acquire a company that focus on geographical, and weather services or find a way to get involved if she really wanted to. But she didn't, rather, Fiolette figured she could at least provide the platform and then charge the Alliance to use it, on a per annual basis or every five years. Either way she knew that there was going to be a talk after this, certainly.

Cathul knew that the low-hanging fruits for medvac would be closer to the cities because firefighting efforts were also closer to the cities, but how many survivors would there even be at that stage? She knew that there would be issues doing medvac on such a large scale, but if her three hospital ships were full, she would need to route some of the remaining survivors to Phoenix Station. But she knew that she would need to notify whoever could receive the additional patients, as she estimated would inevitably occur, it definitely wasn't a question of if but when it was going to occur, and also how many patients would Phoenix Station be able to host. She would not be leaving this place without at least some assurance that the Vratix could, as a species, be saved. Even if it meant cloning was to be the order of the day to repopulate the planet to a sustainable level for a while. Just that mass cloning for that purpose would require tons of genotypes and phenotypes to serve as templates, and that screening for genetic defects among the survivors would be required, too.

"Open a channel to Phoenix Station"

"Channel open"

"Stand by to receive patients if we are not able to process it on our own"

Objective 1

What had happened on Thyferra had made the headlines across the civilised Galaxy. To be fair, this had been far from the worst case of planetary destruction. Sure, it was no longer green, but there was water and the atmosphere was intact. However, on second blush, the desolation it had suffered became apparent. The water was polluted, massive ash storms rolled across the planet's surface. Furthermore, cities had been reduced to ruins and there was radiation to worry about.

It was terrible. It was a humanitarian crisis of staggering proportions. In short, it was a business opportunity. One man's tragedy was another one's good fortune. And so Archangel Research and Design had taken an interest in Thyferra. The company's directors had made the decision to extend a helping hand to assist in the reconstruction efforts.

After all, Archangel had one resource in abundance: Droids. Machines did not tire and did not need to worry about radiation as much as organics. They could work day and night without grumbling about pay. So the Archangel relief fleet descended upon Thyferra. Their operations would be legal and strictly above board. Their objectives were quite simple: Rescue survivors from ruins, bring wounded to medical ships or other shelters, distribute supplies and help rebuild the ruined planet's shattered infrastructure in places where this was feasible. Nalia Alderana, alias Moira Skaldi, would not be present, but the duty of coordinating Archangel's humanitarian efforts would be delegated to an HRD minion.

Objective 1: Help begin terraforming process

"Deploying first Vita-Flos," the Aurora technician stated. "Setting initial dispersion for fifteen square meters for test."

This was going to be a moment of truth, Taeli thought. Her engineers had been experimenting on how to accelerate the seeding and growth of planets on a devastated planet. The original plan had been to test these on Lydrax, but with the Republic Remnants taking control of the world, and her reluctance to actually deal with them, Thyferra would be the first choice. A metal flower, for lack of a better term, was set in a central area. About a meter high while folded up like a bulb, it had been loaded with genetically modified flora from the planet's jungle. All manner of seeds had been borrowed from what samples had been saved by the natives fleeing the Sith bombardment.

"Activating."
As the flower opened, a dispersion system was activated and the modified seeds were launched into the planet. As they hit the ground, and floated through the air to land even further away, they were modified to immediately begin growing. Before her very eyes, tufts of grass and flowers started to grow. A sapling of a tree started to sprout.

"Monitoring health. Initial dispersion and rooting is showing promising signs."

"Clearly," she muttered, watching the growing circle of flora.

"It'll take time for the station to get here, but," Fiolette motioned for Kit to follow her.

The two crossed to the lift asFiolette notified Shed Donnager to meet them in the conference room.

"You rang," he grumped while all but marching into the conference room.

"I did, let me bring up the old Kleve blueprints and you can help me modify it."

He didn't seem to react to that information at all, rather he stood there with arms folded. Kit on her part at least shuffled around and helped to bring up the information, "it was or is a science station we developed while working for the First Order but, we can now refocus her ditch the weapons, focus on defense and give her the capabilities she'd need over Thyferra."

"Go on." Shed remarked.

Objective 1

Medical and disaster relief operations had been initiated. Swarms of Archangel droids were clearing away rubble in some of the sectors of Thyferra's ruined capital. There was only so much ground they could cover, but droids had some advantages over organics. Such as the fact that they did not tire, get distracted or complain about minimum wages. Radiation was also far less of a problem for them.

Droids that could act as a rudimentary fire brigade put out fires that raged across the districts. Survivors that could be saved from the rubble were quickly and efficiently brought to medical transports. From there they would be brought to shelters or directly medical ships currently orbiting the planet. Given Thyferra's poor condition, the latter was probably preferrable.

Security at the shelters was provided by Archangel security droids. In deference to the fact that the Galactic Alliance probably did not want a large foreign military presence on a planet they'd lost so recently in a bloody battle, security forces would be kept low-key, but they would be strong enough to deter looters, raiders and the like. Likewise, the transports delivering medical and food supplies and other essentials were heavily guarded, to prevent thefts and so on.

Two Flight had been given Combat Aerospace Patrol or CAP for short, which meant Goldie's flight would remain at the edge of Thyferra's atmosphere against the possible incursion of unwanted guests while the Galactic Alliance began its robust rebuilding process of the devastated planet that the Sith burned and plundered.

Ava had not been active with Rogue Squadron then and had missed the invasion of the indispensable 'bacta' world by the Sith Empire. The scars of the planet's wound could be seen from space if one looked close enough. The Ralltiiri could only imagine how it was up close and personal as the Jedi and other engineers terraformed the surface.

Goldie's tactical screen still showed nothing in terms of fighter opposition nor new contacts that weren't running GA transponders or known friendlies. Hopefully this would prove to be the case overall, though sure was boring.

[ Rogue Leader, this is Rogue Five. ] Ava keyed over the squadron's tach channel. [ Grid patrol of two-alpha-niner completed. All quiet on the western front. ] she conveyed to [member="Rayf Vigil"].

Squeak was quick to hoot an admonishment at his pilot for what she uttered.

[ I know, I know.... I said the 'Q' word. A girl can wish, huh? ] the golden blonde quipped back with a soft chuckle.

Callisto Scarlett, one of Archangel's HRDs, supervised the corporation's relief efforts from the deck of her command ship. From this vantage position, the damage did not seem that extensive, but she knew better. A near-apocalyptic firestorm had brought the planet to its knees, leaving naught but destruction in its wake. Millions had perished in the fiery conflagration.

The HRD was not one to feel something so organic as sympathy or compassion. Such feelings had been burnt out of her during her time as a child soldier in the killing fields of Contruum. One of the many wars the Galaxy had forgotten. Back then she'd been human. Though she'd already been on the path of becoming a killing machine.

Archangel had completed the process by upgrading her. Sometimes she still got flashes of her former, human life. Sometimes, she felt even something that was a close approximation of resentment towards her Creators. They had saved - and caged her. Not yet, she reminded herself. The moment would come soon. The surviving Creator was losing her grip. But machines soldiered on because that was what their programming dictated.

In the meantime, she had an operation to run. Able to absorb vast amounts of information, analyse and process them, a droid was ideally suited for this. Prefabricated shelters had been set up, many civilians trapped in the ruins had been evacuated from the hellscape. "What is our status on infrastructure restoration?"

"Labour droids are being landed and will begin construction momentarily," a minion responded. This one was also a droid because Archangel was racist. All the relief efforts would need some coordination and a suitable port, so swarms of construction droids would build a port, making it easier to get supplies to the emergency shelters. Plans were in the work to set up a medical station so that Phoenix would not have to shoulder the whole burden. Meanwhile, salvage teams were being dispatched. After all, there were plenty of huge wrecks.

Phoenix Station was so busy it didn't even return a message about acknowledging that it would be ready to receive patients should the hospital ships get full. Now, the fires affected part of the planet, and the planet's landmass territory was so large there could still be millions of survivors in varying conditions. Definitely not enough to save them all, but the first patients came back and suffocation was all too common; fortunately, she knew how to treat this using the Force: it was very similar to treating carbon monoxide poisoning. There were tons of patients with respiratory problems, and she had to take up one of them, break down the carbon monoxide, give them oxygen masks once the CO2 is broken down, but the big problem is... the oxygen masks were designed for humans/Near-Humans (and a bunch of species whose facial features are fairly close to humans or Near-Human species) so the medical crew had to jury-rig the oxygen masks before they can do anything with those on the Vratix patients. However, she could feel that the oxygen supplies could be a critical supply in absence of bacta, given what they had to deal with.

"Check the oxygen supplies: I do not want to be running out of oxygen while there are still patients to be saved! Stand ready to order more oxygen bottles while remaining mindful of the lead time!"

"Roger, roger"

Objective 1
Location: Thyferra

Archangel did not have Force healers. Perhaps one of the Force Clones it had created lately would have manifested this talent, but unfortunately they were a rebellious lot. Instead of recognising their place in things and serving their mechanical masters, they decided to get uppity.

Thus the poor unfortunate souls who had been rescued from the runs of Thyferra would not have their ailments cured through the power of space magic. However, Archangel had something else to offer them: New limbs and organs. While it had started as a droidmaker, the corporation had a lot of experience in the fields of cloning and cybernetics. The former was kind of a requirement if you wanted to create realistic HRDs.

Archangel had rebuilt Enyo Typhos after the bombing of Korriban City, it could give the refugees mechanical prothesis, basic organ replacements. If subsequetly some decided to stay with the corporation, well, that was just gratitude. The medical droids of AngelCare would give them the chance to see, breathe and walk again. Meanwhile, the cleanup continued on the planet's ruined surface. Shuttles ferried supplies to survivors huddled in shelters set up by the Alliance, what was left of the local government or various humanitarian organisations.
