SPECIAL FEATURES

• A Thousand Generations: Every Wayward contains portions of the educational databases maintained by the Jedi, recovered from Coruscant, Tython and finally Jakku. These include Jedi history, philosophy, lightsaber theory, galactic history, ancient cultures, relic identification and other subjects commonly taught or studied within the Enclave.
• Legacy Matrix: No two Waywards possess exactly the same surviving data. Each droid may possess one or two areas of particularly advanced expertise appropriate to its former role within the Jedi Enclave. These might include archaeology, lightsaber construction, galactic history, medicine, diplomacy, translation, exploration, engineering, archival research or lightsaber instruction.
• Master, Again: Their heuristic processors were designed to teach and adapt themselves to individual Jedi students over long periods of instruction. A Wayward can construct lessons, review its owner's performance and adjust its methods as they progress. Once assigned to a new owner, it gradually learns their habits, preferred methods, equipment, fighting style and personality, transitioning from instructor to increasingly specialized personal assistant and adviser.
• Eyes of the Student: A Wayward can record training sessions, battles and demonstrations for later analysis. Its owner can subsequently review holographic reconstructions while the droid identifies repeated movements, technical mistakes and recognizable combat forms.
• Keeper of Relics: Originally intended to assist Jedi scholars and students, Waywards are particularly adept at cataloging artifacts, comparing inscriptions, identifying historical technologies and maintaining extensive personal archives.
• A Personality Survived: Waywards possess highly developed personalities created from a mixture of recovered memory crystals, instructional profiles and years of accumulated heuristic development. They are fully capable of preferences, arguments, sarcasm, affection, resentment, curiosity and extremely strongly held opinions.

STRENGTHS

• A Jedi in Your Pocket: Although incapable of using the Force, a Wayward possesses an enormous amount of accumulated Jedi institutional knowledge. It can serve simultaneously as researcher, instructor, historian, technical assistant and personal adviser.
• Everybody Gets A Different One: Every surviving memory matrix is different. One Wayward may remember decades of helping construct lightsabers while another spent its existence assisting archaeologists, teaching younglings, maintaining starships or cataloguing forgotten civilizations. Their personalities likewise range from patient and grandfatherly to argumentative, mischievous, severe or profoundly eccentric.
• Know Your Enemy: Possessing a companion that spent its former existence surrounded by Jedi provides obvious advantages to a Sith. Waywards understand Jedi terminology, customs, philosophy, common training practices and martial traditions far better than most conventional droids.
• Long Memory: Droid memory can survive far longer than its creators. Some reconstructed Waywards contain fragmented recollections extending back decades or even centuries, allowing them to occasionally provide firsthand context concerning people, places and events long since lost.

WEAKNESSES

• There Is No Force In There: A Wayward is still a machine. It cannot use the Force, sense disturbances within it, activate mechanisms that genuinely require Force sensitivity, detect someone's alignment, perceive spirits or reproduce supernatural Jedi abilities. Its understanding of the Force is academic and observational.
• Teacher, Not Warrior: Waywards were never intended to replace Jedi on the battlefield. Their lightsaber programming exists primarily so that they can demonstrate forms and spar with students. Against a dedicated combat droid, trained soldier or actual Jedi, their lack of military-grade armor, targeting systems and combat servos becomes painfully obvious.
• An Incomplete Education: Much of the sensitive information retrieved by the Sith Covenant throughout its campaigns was often fragmented, incomplete or physically destroyed before the Covenant could seize it. No Wayward contains a complete copy of the Jedi archives, and their recovered memories are often fragmented. They cannot conveniently reveal every Jedi secret, hidden temple or piece of classified information their owner might desire.
• Old Loyalties Die Hard: Reconstructing the Jedi personality matrices proved considerably easier than completely rewriting them. Many Waywards retain philosophical assumptions, emotional attachments and behavioral patterns inherited from their former lives. A Sith owner may consequently find themselves subjected to unwanted ethical observations, arguments about Jedi philosophy or increasingly creative interpretations of poorly worded instructions.
• Ion Is Still Ion: Despite their historical importance and sophisticated processors, Waywards remain droids. EMP and ion weaponry can disable them with depressing efficiency.
• Memory Is A Treacherous Thing: Surviving memories are not necessarily accurate. Damaged memory crystals, corrupted files and centuries of heuristic reinterpretation can leave a Wayward completely convinced of events that occurred differently from how it remembers them.

DESCRIPTION
The Siege of Jakku was an accidental event, contrary to the usual active destruction the Sith Covenant visited on its targets. Jakku was an uneventful expansion of Covenant territory and at first glance the location of the Jedi Enclave was overlooked. It was only later that the Sith discovered the existence of the Jakku Enclave.

By the time the Sith arrived, the Jedi were in full swing of their evacuation, attempting to save as much of their knowledge and artifacts as possible, while destroying what they couldn’t transport out.

In the end the Jakku enclave was destroyed through a combination of the siege and the self-destruct function of the Jedi. As the battle passed, the Sith began to pick over any remnants still remaining in the ruins.

Fragments, destroyed items, half-buried artifacts, were all uncovered and catalogued by the Sith Covenant.

Some of it was useless, others needed extensive work to properly be used. Amidst it all, the Sith discovered the remnants of the Bobbajo Workshop. The Enclave had relied on many things to teach the next generation of Jedi, overseen by Romi Jade , chief among them droids and digital archives.

The Sith recovered components, fragmented remains of the Jakku archives, and destroyed remnants of droids. None of it was operative by itself, but in combination with what the Covenant had conquered on Tython and Coruscant, they were able to reconstruct a limited line of droids based on old schematics and restored archives.

The Wayward-class Jidai Companion droid was the result of it. Each Sith that participated in the destruction of the Jakku Enclave was given one of them. They were first designed to be the perfect companion for student Jedi and even more experienced Jedi Knights, following along with their teachings- first being a teacher themselves and then an assistant as their Jedi grew in their experience and knowledge.

Now the Jidai companions would instead serve the Sith.

While helpful and genuinely capable of providing deep insight into the Jedi mindset, they also come with all the quirks of originally being designed for the Jedi. They have a tendency to judge their owner, if they do things that are aligned with the Dark Side, they are lecturers first and helpful slaves last (if ever).

Owning one and using them as a companion is an exercise of patience for the average Sith.
