• Weight: Heavy to Average, terrestrial beasts that can handle more weight might be fitted with heavier armor but flying mounts are fitted with armor that won’t weigh them down too much for normal flight maneuvers. This barding is particularly good at shoring up the natural defenses of the creature it is fitted to. Phrik and beskar plating which covers soft spots in tough hide, helmet fitted carefully to the contours of a bestial face, and extra protection for fearsome limbs, to ensure a war beast can stay in the fight that much longer.

STRENGTHS

• Multilayered Coverage — the various overlapping protections at play mean that this war mount barding is good at offering at least some protection in almost any imaginable combat scenario.
• Physical & Metaphysical Protection — while the combined metal and leather components offer self explanatory shielding in a traditional combat sense, carefully placed Kyber Crystals offer additional support and boon to Force Sensitive riders. These rare and powerful semi-sentient stones, sourced primarily from the caves of Korriban, offer a mount and rider additional connectivity in the Force. The crystals not only help to deepen the bond between the pair, but also offer potent focal points for a Force practitioner to further shield their mount. This requires concentration on the part of the rider, and specialized combat training, but the protective payoff is well worth this effort.
• Synergy — this armor is extremely modular and each variation being crafted for unique individuals or small groups of specific species means that it pairs extremely well with its wearer. Whatever natural and supernatural defenses a war mount already possesses will be heightened in being equipped with their own set of barding.

WEAKNESSES

• Maintenance — this armor requires regular consistent upkeep in order to be at peak efficacy. The power cells must be at full and in good condition, joints must be oiled, and various panels of the interlocking system must be reviewed regularly to ensure it is in good working condition. This armor is meant for conflict undertaken by rider and beast in short (less than 24 hour) stints and is not meant for use on prolonged campaigns. If used over prolonged periods without adequate maintenance, resistances reduce across all damage types.
• EMP or Force Nullification— a targeted and highly powerful EMP might be able to take out the deflector/ particle shield combination, severely decreasing the armor’s effectiveness. Force nullification would not reduce armor protections nearly as much but would certainly limit boons granted by the Kyber.

DESCRIPTION

Spore Industries is well known for its contributions to pharmaceutical and scientific advances, but this is its first endeavor into specialized production of armor for war mounts or other beasts of war. This unique and expensive product line was developed to give Sith Lords and their Sithspawn or beast companions an extra edge in battle. Famous Sith alchemist, A’Mia Madrona, oversaw the project directly and favored more standard methods of production to ensure versatility of coverage.
