APPEARANCE:
A Firrerreo, Vyn has his species two toned hair in duo-tone brown and black, giving it a sandy bronze appearance. Along with golden eyes, pronounced canines, and nictitating membranes (third eye-lids), he is easily distinguishable as non-human on sight. More bestial than most humanoids, snarling, growling, and baring of the teeth are common among Firrerreo - though Vyn is an exception to this, being well known for his nonchalant and flippant nature - only showing his more primitive mannerisms under stress and combat. Physically, Vyn is in excellent shape, his species high metabolism keeping him lean and athletic at roughly two meters and 77 kilos.
Known as something of a maverick and independent soul, Vyn goes where his whims and wants take him, often into the middle of trouble. Having little respect for governments and institutions, Vyn's criminal record is rather long and filled with equal parts criminal undertakings and legitimate misunderstandings. While somewhat cynical and sarcastic at times, he's been described as having a heart of gold, if one can find it under a healthy layer of soot. A hopeless scoundrel, Vyn is equally known for his vices; from alcohol, marcan herb, and females of various species, Vyn is always up for a good time.
Attire-wise, Vyn is often dressed in leather rogues armor, paired with gauntlets and armored boots. Preferring dexterity and speed to full body armor, Vyn often leverages a quick wit with quicker footwork to stay ahead of his opponents, and isn't above trickery and deception to give him an edge. Perhaps trademark of him is the blaze-cutlass kept across his back, and a heavy maser pistol kept at his hip.

BACKSTORY:
There isn't much known about Vyn - and what is known publicly is typically found in law enforcement databases. A troubled youth that roamed the streets causing trouble, it's known that he enlisted with the Planetary Defense Forces of his planet; by all accounts he was idealistic and disciplined, handily climbing to the rank of Commander and survived a major battle campaign against the Empire. Being Firrerreo, his species was coveted for their healing factor and bestial nature, and were often sought after as troops and commandos. At an unknown time, Vyn was tried by military tribunal, dishonorably discharged and stripped of rank, and sent to an asteroid penal colony for undisclosed crimes.
THREADED BACKSTORY:
• Jailbreak
Vyn helped incite a mass jailbreak attempt roughly two years into his incarceration; while many of his compatriots were able to escape, he was ultimately betrayed during the attempt and failed to escape on the station's shuttle.
• Jailbreak: Take Two
Found culpable for the deaths of no fewer than five guards, as well as helping to incite the uprising, Vyn's sentence was extended by twenty years to an Asteroid SuperMax Prison. During his time here, Vyn tried (again) to incite yet another uprising - failing (again) to do so, he was eventually freed by a pirate who took interest in the Firrerreo for his cybernetic mods.
• Padawan in Peril: A Purgill-Class Pirate Problem
Saved from prison by the dread pirate Rohbur, Vyn is accepted into the ranks of the Pirate Nation as First Mate aboard Rohbur's flagship, a stolen Galactic Alliance cruiser. As Rohbur abandons the pirate code and targets a civilian liner, Vyn stages a mutiny against his captain and steals a Galactic Alliance Corvette, The Pike.
• Bad Medicine Is What I Need
The Pike running low on supplies, Captain Vyn and his First Mate Zeri go on a mission for credits in an ill-fated heist from a shady information broker. Stealing from a passenger train on a resort planet, they gather a moderate amount of loot before they realize that Black Sun is also stealing from the train! Vyn and Zeri flee the train with their loot, enough for a few hyperspace jumps for the Pike, and escape just as the train explodes. Bonds between Captain and First Mate deepen, and danger and love seem to be in the air...

ARMOR:
• Molytex Combat Suit:
- Molytex Armored Jumpsuit, over which boots and a blast jacket is worn. Blast jacket is made of thick Spacers Leather with embedded plates of thin Flexisteel. Flexible yet durable, offers heavy armor protection, yet won't stop a shattergun or lightsaber.
• Duraplast gauntlets with hand-plate, elbowguards:
• Duraplast armored boots, shinplates, kneeplates:
• Duraplast utility belt:
- Duraplast containers, magnetic clips for holding items.
- Hover Lights (3)
- Static Pulse Grenades (3)
- Ion Smoke Grenades (3)
- Gas Pellets (5; Vertigon, Coma)
- S-Mine Detonators (8; variable power)
- Electro-Snare Disc (3)
- Laser Lockpicks (5)
- Military-Grade Traumapac (1)
-
WEAPONS:
• Turadium Blaze-Cutlass:
- Turadium blade, guard, and grip. Bronzium plated guard and pommel, brylark wood paneled grip. Treated as having an energized laser edge; more effective than a vibroblade, less effective than a lightsaber.
• Turadium Heavy Maser Pistol:
- Turadium frame; a descendent of charric technology, the maser pistol cannot be reflected and carries significant kinetic energy, but will not interact with metallic armors. 50 rounds, 75 meter range (DL-44 comparable)

CYBERNETICS:
• (Adrenal Glands) Pain Damper / Adrenal Implant:
- (+) Allows for extremely high tolerance to pain and exhaustion, and much faster recovery of fatigue. (-) User has to be conscious of hyper-exertion, as the mind might be alert, but the body can simply collapse.
- (+) Based off the mental regulator used in old armor designs, this implant monitors for surges or dips in neural activity - if it senses changes, it sends micro-electric pulses into the spine and brain to reinforce neural patterns. Grants heavy resistance to mind tricks, illusions, domination, and other related powers. (-) Can induce repetitive OCD-style thinking. Multiple force users combined can overpower the implant (Cad Bane style). Under a sustained barrage, the implant can cause seizures.
- (+) Stimulates the cardiovascular system through over-oxygenation and encouraging chemical support, while inhibiting stress hormones and lactic acid buildup; vastly improves physical stamina. (-) Causes rapid pulse and nausea. User must be conscientious of hard physical limits, or they can incur heart damage, or even cardiac arrest.
- (+) Regulates consciousness by stimulating the nervous system through a neural stimulator; prevents loss of consciousness from impact or stunning weaponry. (-) Causes insomnia. User can still lose consciousness through lack of oxygen, and a stunning blast of great enough power (or multiple simultaneously) can overwhelm the implant.
- (+) Drastically improves reflexes, coordination, and dexterity by fine-tuning the nervous system through the use of micromotivators that amplify nerve impulses, along with the replacement of nerve fiber with electrostatic wiring. (-) Causes episodic tremors. Implant is activated by adrenaline release so that it is not constantly on - as a result ambushes are still quite effective, as it takes several seconds for the implant to fully ramp up.
*More implants may be present, but are currently deactivated.

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
(+) Exotic Alien (Racial):
As a Firrerreo Vyn has a near supernatural healing factor, superior strength, hearing, and resistance to being blinded compared to human baseline. Vyn can take far more damage than most sentients and recover, and is more or less immune to blood loss; so long as nothing damages his heart or brain, it is extremely likely that Vyn will live.
(+) Former Soldier:
Due to his stay in the Planetary Defense Forces, Vyn has great familiarity with ranged and melee weaponry small and large, explosives, vehicle operations, and battlefield strategy and tactics. Primarily Vyn expertise is as a Shock Trooper, which were used as advance troops to break enemy lines; Vyn is more than happy to brawl and fight in close quarters as a result.
(+) 6th Sense:
Being Force-Attuned Vyn often has a sixth sense about things; where exactly to shoot at a door panel to short it out, whether to turn left or right, whether someone is lying or not. This "smugglers luck" is largely subconscious, and not something that he can control. In addition to these gut feelings, Vyn has incredible resistance to mind tricks and telepathy, being something of a brick wall.
- - - - - - - - - - - - -(+) / (-) Antihero:
Vyn values his freedom above all else, and views the galaxy at large as an oppressive system designed to exploit the populace for its own gains, regardless of autocracy or democracy, light or dark. However, while Vyn is in theory out for himself, Vyn also knows what it's like to be falsely accused, discarded, and otherwise forcibly turned into a pariah. This leads him to make choices that sometimes lean contrary to his selfish ways; he's known to place himself between the weak and the powerful, give up scores to those in desperate need, and generally avoid killing unless necessary. Eventually, these actions may lead to a no-win situation that Varo will have to give his life for, though they may also redeem him in the eyes of the public. Time will tell.

(-) Firrerreo Independence (Racial):
Firrerreo care little for anyone but themselves and in many ways are independent and self-reliant to a point beyond arrogance - a Firrerreo would rather suffer the consequences of their own actions rather than ask for help. This can lead to Vyn brute forcing a solution to a problem, when he could quite easily solve it by relying on someone else's ability or input.
(-) Selfish:
After his time in the military and in prison, Vyn is more than a little jaded when it comes to the greater good. When it comes to trusting and believing in the potential of others Vyn is skeptical to a fault. Combined with his racial propensity towards other races, and it takes a lot for him to trust others. Ideals, organizations, governments - Vyn is in it for himself and the money.
(-) Cyborged:
Due to medical experimentation during his stay in prison, Vyn is heavily modified with cybernetic implants. Most of Vyn's implants are made of non-reactive metals, are biomechanical in nature, or are mag-shielded enough that they will not simply shut off with an ion blast. That said, each has its own long list of pros and cons (which can be found in the cybernetics section) that Vyn must be aware of and juggle.
