  • Flares will stay together and burn on organic or non-conductive materials
  • Arc and Straight fire options for the Flare
STRENGTHS
  • Shot mode is strong enough to punch through most armor, including heavy vehicles.
  • Flare setting has a long range to mark areas on a battlefield.
  • Flares can be used as an impromptu weapon
  • Flares can be adjusted to change color and intensity
WEAKNESSES
  • High recoil would make rapid fire impractical if the charge time didn’t make it impractical
  • Shot and Flares do require a brief charge period between shots
  • Weapon is fairly heavy for a pistol
  • Low ammo count makes it unreliable for long term engagements
  • Shot mode is Fairly inaccurate
DESCRIPTION

Designed as a flare gun for designating targets on the battlefield, the VSF Pug also uses its large bore as a delivery mechanism for one of the VSF’s most powerful shots from a small arms weapon. The VSF Pug can be switched between shot mode and flare mode with a switch on either side of the weapon, and a screen on the back can be used to select different options for the flares, including color, intensity, and trajectory. However, increasing the intensity of a flare will decrease its burning time, with its most intense setting causing it to only last for about a minute. The Flare can also be set to arc its shot for the purpose of firing over cover, or firing in a laser pointed straight line towards a target. It should be noted however, that the arc only has one setting and cannot be adjusted. The straight fired flare will travel for approximately a mile before slowing down if shot into the air, while the arc will slow down after approximately 500 feet.

The power shot fires a concentrated blast of energy capable of punching through most armors and overloading light energy shields. While inaccurate for long range engagements, this weapon is ideal for situations where one needs a quick way to blast through armored opposition, whether that be someone in thick armor, a moderately heavy vehicle’s engine, or a particularly thick lock.

Each shot from the VSF Pug requires about a second to charge up in the case of the Shot, or to attune to the correct frequency in the case of the Flares. The sheer size of the round in either case also comes with a fair bit of recoil.

When it comes into contact with metal or other highly conductive materials, the Flare Round’s containment shell will burst, causing the energy within to be trapped in a violent explosion with a diameter of approximately 2 feet. When it comes into contact with organic materials, or thich which doesn’t conduct energy very well, the containment field will hold, causing the flare to simply burn against whatever it collides with. The flare round is capable of punching through soft target such as leaves or soft tissue, but will stop when met with harder materials.
