Name: Vraxin
Designation: Non-Sentient
Homeworld: Thral
Language: Growls
Average height of Length: 20m
Average Wingspan: 16m
Skin color: Gray
Hair color: N/A
Breathes: Type I
Strengths:
Gliding: Vraxin, as their massive wings would suggest are capable of gliding. Though their weight and the direct size of their wings does not allow for flying, the creatures are more than capable of gliding for hundreds, if not thousands of miles. Vraxin often climb to the top of the Northern mountains, using their incredibly muscular legs and wing arms to quickly move. Then, when they reach the top, simply jump off the mountains and glide for nearly days at a time. These creatures are predators, and will seek to swoop in from above and kill silently.

Skin: Vraxin skin is made up not of scales but an incredibly tough almost leathery substance. Much like the skin of a Rancor, Vraxin skin is one whole. It is a tough hide capable of absorbing blaster shots, slugthrower rounds, and even light turbolaser shots. However a lightsaber can still slice through the creatures hide. It should also be noted that the creatures wings are far less tough than the rest of its body, the thin wing membrane being more vulnerable then the rest of its body.

Agile: Despite their size, the Vraxin are incredibly agile. Their thick muscular hind legs, their fold able wing structure, and its thick spined tail make the Vraxin and incredibly fast and deadly creature. The Vraxin drop from the skies, falling on prey and tangling with it, biting, clawing, and twisting until whatever it chose to devour simply cannot fight anymore. In order to do this, and in order to reach its perches, the Vraxin are incredibly fast.

Weaknesses:
Soft Tummy: The chink in its leather armor, a Vraxins stomach is incredibly unprotected. Unlike the rest of its body the Vraxin has a soft underbelly. This means that if someone were to go looking for a way to kill a Vraxin, they would only have to look for its stomach. Soft enough that a vibro-blade can pierce it, the Vraxin's underbelly is easily the most vulnerable part of this gargantuan creature.

Horns: As one would expect from such a strange monster, te Vraxin has two large horns. These horns, although most decorative, contain a massive amount of nerves and blood vessels. Severing one of these horns, or blasting it, is incredibly painful and even debilitating to the Vraxin. Though they can live without these horns, once cut, they will never regrow. A hornless Vraxin has been noted to be far more angry and ferocious.

Sunlight: Vraxin are near cold blooded creatures. Though not quite needing constant heat, they are in need of sunlight. Though they will not die without it, a Vraxin kept from the heat of the sun for too long will begin to appear lethargic, often to the point of starving itself. These massive monsters require the warmth and vitamins that the sun provide.

Distinctions:
Vraxin resemble larger, winged versions of their distance cousins, Varactyls.

Like their smaller cousins Vraxin have long and tough leathery skin that stretches over their entire bodies. Though they resemble dragons, it is this fact alone that stands as one of their biggest distinctions from Dragons, they do not have scales. Instead their skin is much like a very hard leather, acting as armor and being capable of absorbing even light laser cannons as well as larger blasts.

Aside from this leathery skins the Vraxin also have two large sets of horns, these horns grow out like branches of a tree, resembling gnarled wood and stretching in odd ways from the head. The Vraxin's bat like wings and its long spined tail are also a distinctive feature of this creature. Overall, its safe to say the Vraxin resembles a more “grown up” version of its distant cousin.

Average Lifespan: 115 years
Races: None
Estimated Population: High Thousands
Diet: Carnivorous
Communication:
Vraxin like many other base animals communicate via a series of roars, growls, and other more minimalistic noises. It is also possible for them to communicate more silently via flicking their tales. This really only means something to other Vraxin and is difficult to decipher.

If one manages to tame a Vraxin, either by raising it from birth or via the force they act much like very large dogs. They become friendly, happy, an generally communicate through body language more than actual noise.

Culture:
Vraxin, being non-sentient, have no real distinctive culture.

Technology level: Giant Lizards
General behavior:
Vraxin are lone hunters. They generally remain on their own their entire lives. This is mostly due to the nature of their homeworld, where food is scarce and survival is a struggle even for massive beasts like Vraxin.

They hunt as solitary animals, eat as solitary animals, and generally survive on their own. They live within the Koryn Wilds of Thral, often exploring and rummaging through the high trees, using their massive wings to swoop down upon unsuspecting prey. They often venture north of the wilds into the mountains, seeking caverns within the Nir Mountains at homes and reaching into the Quarin plains. The Vraxin are the most far reaching of all creatures on Thral, often traveling far.

Though they are lone animals, Vraxin have an amazing ability for bonding. Though this requires constant exposure or training, Vraxin are far more easily tamed than many other creatures on Thral. This is thought to be because Vraxin are at least somewhat intelligent, holding about the same intellect as a clever dog. Though 'easier', it is still rather difficult. In order to tame a Vraxin one must acquire them in the egg, imprinting themselves as the Vraxins mother, or one must be especially gifted in the force, twisting the Vraxin's mind.

Once trained Vraxin take on many odd, even silly, personality quirks. As stated before they are intelligent beings, and once tied to a person they become almost subservient, acting as a very large dog would. This can be destructive in nature, and the few that have tamed a Vraxin have found that their pets will often destroy things out of pure joy.

In their more natural environment, every twenty years the Vraxin go through a mating cycle. Within the mountains north of the Koryn Wilds thousands upon thousands of Vraxin gather together. This huge flock of massive creatures crawling into the Nir Mountains make even the largest denizens of Thral weary, and when Vraxin mating season falls upon Thral, it is often greeted with an eerie silence.

Vraxin mate quickly, often only meeting once and ending with female impregnation. The female lays clutches of eggs and sits upon them for two to three months, often starving to death due to the length of time. The creatures then hatch, and through instinct will begin to explore, hunt, and attempt to survive. This harsh upbringing leads to an extremely high death ratio within Vraxin, with often only one in five surviving childhood.

History:
Vraxin as a species do not have a long or particularly interesting species. Like most creatures on Thral no one knows exactly when they evolved or even how they survived for very long, but its easy to say that Vraxin are one of the most populous species on Thral.

It is theorized that Vraxin originally evolved from Varactyl, possibly a crate of the strange lizards escaped from a downed freighter and after hundreds of thousands of years developed into these massive gliding creatures.

Vraxin are easily recognized as powerful predators, sitting somewhere in the middle of the food chain on Thral itself. Though this may not be impressive to some, on a world like Thral, it means that Vraxin are incredibly deadly in their own right, more than capable of killing dozens of ordinary men and a match for any Jedi or Sith who isn't careful in their encounter.

Notable Player-Characters: N/A
Intent: To begin the population of the planet Thral.

Okay sorry it took a little bit to get at this, was busy yesterday with work. Anywho, just a few things I need some clarification on
  • How exactly, if they are so large, are they able to glide for days on end?
  • Can you clarify what exactly is strongest weapon their hide can take a hit from as I saw mention of a turbolaser in one part then a laser cannon in another?
Other than that I don't see too much wrong with this sub that a once over for a few grammar mistakes won't fix, so get those points addressed and I should have no problem marking this up to the boss

A. They jump from incredible heights. If you look at the Submissin for Thral, the planet the Vraxin appear on, the mountainous regions are described as being massively huge. The Vraxin as described in this submission scale the mountains and leap from the top, gliding across Thral until they find prey. They can't fly or launch themselves under their own power, but in my mind once they're in the air its pretty easy for them to stay there.

B. Light Turbo-laser/Heavy Laser Cannon would be the upper limits of the thickest portion of their hide.
