STRENGTHS

• Transporter: Designed specifically for transportation, the Von Strauss-class cargo ship is capable of holding up to 16,000 soldiers within its armored hull, in addition to their requisite vehicles and equipment.
• Atmospheric Maneuvering: Though they are massively large objects, Von Strauss-class cargo ships are capable of both maneuvering in a planet's atmosphere and landing on a planet's surface without the assistance of specialized technology.
• Turbolasers: Each Von Strauss-class cargo ship comes equipped with 8 Dual DBY-827 heavy turbolaser turrets, allowing the vessel to defend itself from a variety of different threats.

WEAKNESSES

• Not a warship: Though they they armed with a number of heavy turbolaser turrets, Von Strauss-class cargo ships are not designed to engage in combat and are highly vulnerable to both starfighters and capital ships.
• No fighters: Unlike the Vilifier-class Star Destroyer, the Von Strauss-class cargo ship does not carry any starfighters.
• Maintenance nightmare: To be blunt, maintaining a Von Strauss-class Cargo ship is exceedingly difficult due to the age of each vessel and scarcity of spare parts. This is further complicated by the fact that the vessel is an amalgamation of an Acclamator-class assault ship and a Venator-class Star Destroyer.
• Prime target: Von Strauss-class cargo ships are prime targets for enemy attacks, due to the massive amount of cargo and equipment that each ship can carry.
• Concentrated: Due to the amount of people and cargo each ship can carry, the loss of even a single Von Strauss-class cargo ship can be devastating for an invading army.

DESCRIPTION

During its nearly 900 years of self imposed isolation, Mahporeem was able to come up with a number of innovative and unique ship designs, such as the Vilifier-class Star Destroyer, the Nebulon Fire-class Light Carrier and the CR125 Corvette. However, significant gaps in Mahporeem's inventory still existed, including a lack of suitable landing vessel for the Imperial Remnant's ground forces.

Upon its acceptance into the Imperial Confederation, the genius engineer and fleet commander Karl Von Strauss visited Mahporeem for the first time, where he and Mahporeem's technicians collaborated on the creation of the Von Strauss-class cargo ship. Combining the best elements of the Acclamator-class assault ship and the Venator-class Star Destroyer, the Von Strauss-class cargo ship is capable of transporting huge amounts of men and material across the galaxy. Each Von Strauss is capable of holding nearly 16,000 soldiers and their requisite vehicles and equipment.

Von Strauss-class cargo ships are also capable of unassisted planetary landings, allowing them to directly unload their soldiers and cargo without the need of any sort of specialized equipment. Unfortunately, these vessels are only lightly armed and lack any sort of starfighter compliment, forcing them to rely on escorts to keep them safe from enemy attack. That being said, they more than make up for these deficiencies with their heavy armor and advanced hyperdrive system, and destroying a Von Strauss is often easier said than done.

Von Strauss-class cargo ships are informally known as "Venamators" by those who cannot be bothered to call the vessel by its official Imperial designation, though this practiced is officially discouraged by the Imperial Remnant to avoid offending the man that the ship was named after in the first place.
