  • Shields Down (The ordinance has the ability to produce an electro-magnetic pulse to cripple electrical power subsystems and render and ship ineffective. This is coupled to increase the success likeliness with the secondary special feature.)
  • Overcharged (The electrical charge generated by the ordinance of this missile are enough to overload electrical systems, especially when surge protection is not explicitly in place. Systems targeted include, but are not limited to: shields, life support, communications, navigation, sensors, engines and weapons.)
  • Puncture (Ordinance is capped with an artificial ionite material with the intent to punch through unhindered by shielding systems where it can then unleash its payload intent on crippling an enemy vessel even if the kinetic destructive potential is low. Furthermore, a lesser baradium charge is located just under the missile cap and is designed to detonate with enough force to chip away at the hull exterior once the ordinance has passed through the initial shielding and allow for a more direct path for the ordinance's main payload of electrical current to travel.)
  • Super Conductor (Beyond initially ripping into the ship's hull, the baradium charge also carries a secondary purposed of converting the silver ore carried within the missile housing into a liquid to spray out upon the exposed hull of the ship. Pure silver is an extreme conductor of electrical current which will allow the electrical surge of this weapon system an easier means of access to execute its designed intent.)
  • Locked on Target (This ordinance is also equipped with the ability to track and maneuver toward a target as it has been equipped with homing capabilities.)

  • Incapacitating (The designed intent behind the Tempest-class Missile was to incapacitate enemy vessels, no matter their size or classification. As such, the combined efforts of an EMP burst and an electrical surge give this weapon system an extremely high destructive potential toward electronic-based sub-systems, frying and/or shutting systems not explicitly hardened against such an attack. The effectiveness of this weapon system is not determined based upon classification or size of the target.)
  • Versatility (The average size of this weapon system allows for it to be equipped to any of a number of different platforms to include, but not limited to: starfighters, capital ships, walkers, tanks, and stationary structures.)
  • Tracker (Equipped with homing technology, this missile carries with it the ability to maneuver itself toward a target if the target has moved since firing.)

  • Countermeasures (The Tempest-class missile lacks any kind of electronic countermeasure to avoid being targeted and/or destroyed.)
  • Maneuverability (Even those this missile has an onboard homing system, it is not exceptionally maneuverable. As such, the missile can be shaken through sharp turns and other advanced evasive procedures.)

If you were given the chance to end a fight before it began, wouldn't you take it?

That very thought process drove a lot of the development into the VE/VA-010 Tempest-class missile. Big booms and raging infernos were nice and all, but there were times, especially when one needed to maintain a certain imagine catering toward "good" and "humane" in the galaxy, that a less destructive option might be necessary. So, instead of tearing things to shreds, even with as much fun as that prospect could be, there was the option to simply render a target incapacitated. To take down the electronic sub-systems in a manner that was both "fast" and "furious." If one could effectively do that, then they carried the potential terminate hostilities before they truly and unequivocally began.

So the next posed question was thus . . .

What is a ship without its electrical sub-systems or shielding? An expensive collection of metal adrift in the careless caress of space and gravity.

There are certain things that are well known in the galaxy at large involving electronic systems. For one, ionize anything and electronics did not mix. Because of this, there were many vessels in the galaxy at large that were equipped and fortified against this, whether that be in the form of insulated properties or specialized materials. For instance, a
Faraday Cage could be utilized to serve as an extra layer of protection against aggressive electrical surges and attacks. Similarly, a Faraday Cage could be used to damage and degrade an attempt at either hacking or jamming. But the assumption there are ways to allude and work around such counter-measures and this very thing was taken into account throughout the entirety of the development of this ordinance.

When designing this weapon system, Jorik dove deep into the misconception that a Faraday Cage offered full protection of electronic sub-systems. It was a great buffer, but in order to work at a full capacity, the structural integrity could not be compromised. Similarly, a Faraday cage would be graded only to a certain degree to the signals it could fend off from getting through. So if one could generate an EMP signal at a high enough frequency, it could slip through such countermeasures, just as it was designed to do. But why bank on the assumption your masterfully crafted signal would be at a high enough frequency that it would indeed slip through? Why not give yourself an even higher probability of your system working to its intended effectiveness? If you could challenge the structural integrity of a Faraday Cage to ensure you acquired the results you desired, wouldn't you?

That very question is what generated the next part of this weapon system's design. A
baradium charge to tear at the hull with a focused destructiveness to challenge and ultimately compromise the integrity of a Faraday if one was, at all, present. The countermeasure likely being housed somewhere within the hull as to offer as much protection as it could to certain systems.

With a EMP frequency to a level that would pass through 99% of the Faraday Cage grades known to be in existence, and a means to challenge the very integrity of such a countermeasure, why even think beyond? Well, one simply had to be sure their intent would be met. Thus,
silver in its purest form had been added into the housing on the weapon system, but at a position so that when the baradium charge would detonate, that the silver would project in a molten form and paint whatever exposed surface there was. Silver is a super-conductor, and in its purest form, it is arguably the strongest conductor there is. So by implementing this into the weapon system, it would allow for an even easier avenue for the secondary force of an electrical surge to flow through, adding to the effectiveness of this weapon system.

Effectively the Tempest-class missile was a three part weapon systems. It held a baradium charge, EMP burst and a condensed electrical surge. Needless to say, it was shaping to be a nightmare to for any it trained its sites upon. However, what good was it if it couldn't slip through a target's shielding capabilities to secure its destructive potential against said target? It was this question that lead Jorik, and Valnora Enterprise, to reach out to The Dire Wolves Mercenary Company and procure a material they'd manufactured in
artifical ionite. By capping the ordinance in this material, the aim was to effectively pass through a target's shields and directly deliver the payload of this weapon system, unhindered.

And...well, testing proved the culmination of the process to be a success. Valnora Enterprise had effectively created a non-lethal ordinance with an extreme stopping potential which carried with it the aim to end a fight before it ever began.
