When the First Order had claimed victory over the Galactic Alliance, as they laid claim to a portion of the Hydian Way, the Golden Company had found itself educated by their newfound foe’s tactics and choice of weaponry. While the blaster is considered to be the pinnacle of ranged weapon technology, it seemed that there were militant elements in the galaxy that preferred to use the more archaic slug projectiles. The standard Military Mobility Shields they had equipped themselves with, had proved to be insufficient as they were unable to protect the Sun Guards against the discharged kinetic weapons. Thus, after they had safely extracted from their target’s battlecruiser, the Guild of Armourer’s had set about modifying and upgrading their standard method of defense to better protect their mercenaries in the field.

Utilizing the overlapping technology found within standard deflector screens, the Guild was able to replicate and apply the process to their portable generators, allowing their projected ray shields to become true deflector screens. While this proved to be nothing in the grand scheme of things, the true technological marvel of the “Aegis” came from the furthered enhancements on the design - which strengthened the projected barrier. By using an advanced capacitor within the shield emitter matrix, the deflector screen that enveloped the wearer proved to be admittedly more powerful than the basic military mobility shield available on the market. As the original design had been able to take, and diffuse, the lethality of fifty heavy blaster bolts, the new and enhanced version had reportedly been able to nearly double that margin before the screen depleted and would be forced to recharge.

As like all deflector screens in the modern area, the projected barrier emits radiation and a magnetic field - which can be lethal to sentient life if used unprotected, for extended periods of time. This radiation came in the form of seemingly harmless neutrinos. Such a particle was created by the integrated mechanisms of energy-dispersal built within the generator and were formed by a complicated conversion process which fed upon the excess energy absorbed by the projected aegis. While they carried no electromagnetic charge and were incredibly weak when interacting with other forms of matter, they became incredibly dangerous when an unprotected sentient being was enveloped and assailed on all sides by the neutrino radiation. The magnetic field acted as a catalyst, which contained the seemingly harmless particles within the barrier - which would present the individual with a list of symptoms from their newfound radiation sickness, or poisoning should they continue to be exposed.

To avoid this grisly fate, it’s highly recommended that the shield is not operated by unprotected sentient life, or lengthy periods of time should the required protection not be available.

To combat an inherent weakness in the original design of the military mobility shield, the Guild modified the cell housing to not only recycle the spent, and absorbed energy to keep the power pack charged, but added in a quick release system which would allow a swift cell replacement - should the power source be irreparable or truly spent in the field. This would permit the user to bypass the slow recharge of the generator but would come at the expense of potentially life-saving munitions. This meant whenever their bubble’s burst, a ‘life or death’ decision would need to be made. Though the projected barrier was strengthened, in comparison to its original counterpart, it still operated as a standard deflector shield and reacted appropriately when seeking to disperse heavily ionized plasma or the deadly energy of a disruptor beam.

Therefore, the Sun Guard’s and their subordinate forces, with the “Aegis” in hand, would be able to protect themselves from harm - so long as their power cells held out.

Modifications Summary:
- Lowered Shield Capacity and Removed Advanced Systems to justify a lowered Production rating.
- Altered Standard Features field to include Projection Regulator.
- Added Defensive Strength to Strengths section for Clarity purposes.
- Altered terminology in Description to match changes made.
