  • Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Genetic Resequencing
  • Rapid Incubation
STRENGTHS
  • Genetic Shuffler: The Variance Class pods are capable of taking the genetic material from the original host specimens and randomizing it, creating a constantly changing and developing genetic sequence of its own that is capable of producing a varied pool of templates. This allows for the creation of cloned beings that are, while genetically related, as different as any two individuals can be. This variance gives the added benefit of creating various cloned being that can be predisposed for various tasks, rather than a single template that must be altered to do what is required.
  • Full Grown: Beings cloned using the Variance Class pods emerge as full grown adults, with bodies fully developed and in the prime of their existence. This is done by the pod itself focusing on the genetic sequences within a living being that flourish during their own prime. Entire armies of soldiers can be cloned in a matter of months as compared to the years spent using other cloning methods.
WEAKNESSES
  • Efficient: Requiring several host specimens to be fully cataloged and on hand for use, the Variance Class pods are not as efficient as single donor cloning systems. The genetic shuffling ensures diversity, but this also requires a much longer intake of genetic code to ensure it can constantly shuffle and alter the templates to ensure there are no exact copies or failed sequences. It is a much costlier and time consuming method than compared to other cloning methods.
  • Mind over Matter: While clones made from the Variance Class pods are fully grown adults when they emerge, they lack any form of higher learning. Children in mind but adults in body, the creations that emerge from the pods are dangerous beasts in their first few weeks of life, and care must be taken to educate and control them. They are just as likely to harm themselves as others during this period of time, potentially wiping out scores of new clones before they can be properly harnessed and deployed.
DESCRIPTION
The Variance Class Genetic Compiler Pod is the brainchild creation of Darth Vindictus during his time on Lao-Mon. After encountering the Shi'ido individuals he had corrupted during his original visit to the world, Vindictus decided to use them as the genetic base for a new species of warriors he would create to serve his will. Several months were spent developing the first Variance Class pods, with many failures of both technology and Alchemy seeing the original population of Shi'ido specimens all lost. Eventually, after kidnapping others of the species for testing, Vindictus was able to perfect the Variance Class pods, and the first of his new species of warriors were created.

Unlike most forms of cloning, the Variance method requires multiple genetic donors to be used. Individuals are placed inside the pod, and through the use of Sith Alchemy and technology alike, their bodies are broken down cell by cell, extracting every bit of genetic code that can be found. Several individuals are required to go through this process before the pod can begin the cloning process. The pod used the repository of genetic codes that is now has to begin creating cloned beings, randomizing each template so that each individual that emerges from the pod is as different from the one before and after itself as any two natural born beings across the galaxy.
