Ovinya

Ovinya is the largest population of sentient life on the planet; containing a population of six million. The city- ruled by the Ovinyan kingdom, a feudal monarchy ruled by a single King and his court of lords- is built like a massive castle, with a section for each caste of the city. The royal sector, based within the highest points of the castle; The merchant's sector, which contains the marketplace, and the stores and quarters of all of the cities' merchants; The warrior sector, which contains the training grounds and barracks for the Ovinyan hunters and millitants; and lastly the commoners sector, which contains the living areas of the lower class. Although Ovinya has only achived a feudal class of technology, the castle is well defended with balista-like spear weapons, and it's extensive millitary.

The Vhaal mountains

The Vhaal mountains are the largest mountain range on Vamai, with the largest peak actually reaching the ocean's surface. Many of the mountains within this range are volcanic, resulting in violent exlposions that rock the tribe that lives there. The Vhaal Mountains are populated by the largest tribal society on the planet; The Vulja.

Culture: When the Sisqa popluation split in to two groups, each formed an elaborate mythology that became the base of their cultures. The Ovinyan Sisqa formed a fuedal society ruled by a king and his council of lords, which governed a massive castle-city in eastern Vamai. Ovinyan Sisqa were divided in to four castes: The Royal caste, which contained the King and his family, and ruled Ovinya. It is the only caste that is not strict, as it changes whenever a new king takes over, unless the king is a relitive of the former monarch. Secondly, is the Warrior caste, which serves as both the millitary and the hunters of the Ovinya. It is their responsibility to both defend the city, and hunt the various aquatic monsters of the planet for food. Next, was the merchant caste, who were responsible for creating and selling all matters of weapons, tools, and other day-to-day needs. Lastly, was the commoner caste, which served as the workers, builders, and servants of the Ovinyan kingdom. This is the only caste that could not utilize Sisqan magic, and a child born from any caste that could not utilize Sisqan magic was sentanced to the commoner caste. The ruler of Ovinya was decided in two ways; either the son of the former king would take the throne, or a lord- one of the King's two advisors, one hailing from the merchant caste, and one from the warrior caste- would challnge the current king in a 'Lord's duel, a duel based completely on Sisqan magic, where no weapons were allowed. The winner of the duel would become King, with his famliy becoming the Royal Caste. Ovinyan mythology decipits a malevolent horned god who created the Sisqa and all of the other creatures of the planet, intending the Sisqa to be a race of his slaves. The Horned God gave the sisqa magic, which was eventually his downfall, as he was killed by a Sisqa warrior. Due to this 'myth', Ovinyan Sisqan have elaborate ceramonies when a children are hatched, in where the parents warp Sisqan magic around the infants, to form a 'barrier of magic', to protect their children is the Horned God ever returned. In reality, most Sisqa are not strong enough in the force- what they call Sisqan Magic- to form any permenant protection around their children. Another ceremony is known as the 'King's power', which is a display that the current Ovinyan king shows from the highest point of Ovinya, using his Magic prowess, highly reminiscent of the northern lights. Many Sisqa belive that the more elaborate the display is, the more powerful the king is, as it shows his mastery over Sisqan magic- which leads many kings to develop elaborate illusions to supplement their magical prowess. If a display is weak, it encourages the King's lords to attempt to overthrow him.

The Sisqa tribes are vastly different. Each tribe is ruled by a chieftan, who oversees the tribe and rules over it. Their mythology states that the 'Horned God' was just a extension of a greater god who sits in the sky over the surface of the oceans, named 'The Great Star'. In order for a new chieftan to take control of a tribe, he must travel to the surface of the ocean, and "face the wrath of the Great Star". If the Sisqa can return alive from the incredibly hot waters on the surface, he has achived the right to fight the current chieftan to the death, for his rank. Also, notably, within the Sasqan tribes it is considered ana bomination to be born with the ability to use 'Sisqan magic'. Anyone found able to use this is quickly killed by being tied, and left on the ocean floor to be eaten by the various monsters of the planet. The Sisqa Tribes have many elaborate festivals and ceremonies, such as the 'Festival of Safetey', where the people of the tribe preform an elaborate mixture of dancing and chants (comparable to native american rituals) in order to repel the "Great Star" from ever sending another extension of himself to harm the Sisqa. Another, involves sacrifices to the Great star through the vast systems of underwater volcanoes of the planet. For this ritual, The chieftan of the tribe, as well as three warriors of his choosing, must take several people from their tribe and travel to the nearest undersea volcano system- which is rarely far. From there, they will fling the sacrafices in to the great plumes of superheated water and steam that shoot from the volcanaoes, believing that the fountains of steam would bring the souls of the sacrificed up to the surface to the Great star, in an effort to appease him so he would not send his wrath upon the tribe. If appropriate sacrifices were not made, the tribe belived that the Great Star would punish the tribe- which natural disasters were often blamed on.

Technology: The Sisqa people have only achived a fuedal level of technology, such as balista-like spear throwers, spears, and long jagged swords made from obsidian from the many undersea volcanoes of the planet- which is strengthened with Vamain minerals, and is almost as strong as durasteel.

History: Vamai was originally an ocean-covered planet with no indegenous life. Some time before the Gulag plague, a powerful Zabrak Sith alchemist made his way to the unnamed system, in search of a place where he could practice his expiriments without outside interference. He originally settled on then terrestial moon Vagar, a moon with no life and an inhospitable surface, but large systems of caves which the Sith settled in. From there, he began his expiriments. After one of his larger expiriments backfired, resulting in a massive nexus of Bogan energy which consumed the moon, and transformed it in to a volcanic wasteland, the Zabrak retreated to the planet itself; which he named Vamai. The Zabrak built an underwater labratory and proceeded on with his expiriments, creating a vareity of sithspawn creatures that he set loose on the oceeans. At some point, he created the sentient race of Sisqa, which he created to be able to use the force, in order to become a slave race for him to develop the moon. This eventualyl backfired, though, as the Sisqa killed the Zabrak, and began to form their own society. The race argued amongst itself originally, debating on the 'gift' of the force, which they called 'Sisqan magic'. Many of the Siswa claimed that it was a link to the 'Horned one', and should be purged- while others debated that it was a great power that should be used. Eventually, this left to two seperate cultures being created, and the true origins of the Sisqa race dissolving in to mythology.

Vamai was mostly left alone by the greater galaxy, explorers only passed in to it's section of wild space a few times, most of which they found the planet in it's hot season, and assumed it was devoid of life. Only once had exlporers actually landed on the planet, and searched the few small island systems that sat in it's scalding waters- only to find no life. Their life-sensing technologies found only minimal life- the various alchemically created sea monsters of the planet- when they were deployed to scan the oceans. Due to it's place at the bottom of the ocean, Sisqan civilization was not found. Therefore, Vamai was never exposed to the Gulag plague. The only other exposure the Vamai System had gotten from the greater galaxy is the occasional Sith sensing and traveling to the force nexus of Vamai's smallest moon; Vagar. So far, none of the darksiders that have traveled to the moon have found the species of perfect slaves beneath the ocean. So far.

Climate: Vamai is an ocean covered world with a perfect axis, meaning it expiriences no true seasons. Although, it has a stretched oval axis, bringing it much closer to it's star during the 'hot seasons'. During it's 'cold seasons' the surface ocean is already extremely hot, easily high eonugh in temperature to burn most sapients. But, when the planet gets closer to it's star, during the 'hot seasons', the upper layer of the oceans literally reach a boiling point. This results in vast clouds of steam lifting in to the atmosphere, making one massive cloud that covers the entire sky during the hot seasons. This results in massive continuous rainstorms during the cold seasons.

Notable PCs: None (yet)
Intent: To populate wild space, make an original planet, and make a planet for a Sithspawn race to live on.

(This is my first planet post, so I may not be up-to-par. Tell me anything I have to edit. I will be making a post for the Sisqa tomorrow or monday, since tomorrow is my birthday)

Bump
(Reason: Another planet that was posted after this one was accepted before anyone even looked at this one, as far as I know, so I assume it was accidently overlooked. :) )

There is no need to bump your submission, as we - planet judges - frequently keep track of the board. It is just a matter of complexity of the planet and difficulty of judging it. Please don't do that anymore in any section of the Factory. :)

Let's start, then.

In the Orbital Position, you have "4 (3 during the hot season)". I am assuming you mean it's the fourth planet, but third during the hot season. Please clarify it.

Rotational Period is clearly a bit less than it should be. I would suggest adding some more to it.

About the Class - yes, the planet would be terrestrial. You may remove the "(?)".

Seeing how the people of Vamai didn't come to be too long ago, population seems to be quite reasonable.

Culture is a bit short. Maybe you could talk more about arts, daily life, traditions, etc.? Culture is such a broad term.

Also, History would like some additions. You could talk about what happened during the Gulag Plague, for example.

You are doing fine by so far, I am just really picky. :)

[member="Maria Natalja"]

All fixed! And yes, you're right about the orbit. It has an orbit similer to pluto. I also edited the climate a little. Sorry about the bump, didn't know any better! XD
Anything else need editing?

[member="Mrrew"]

Let's see then, shall we?

About the position, I wanted to say that please make it look something like "4th planet in the system (3rd planet during ...)". Please edit it. Rotational period is fine now. The planet's class is fixed now. Culture looks quite good now - even though not as good as it could be, it is acceptable. History looks fine, too.

I must say this is quite good for a first try. Good job! :)
