SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Designed to be worn with the Vagabond Exoskeleton & Survival Suit, with adaptive connections for breathing tubes and nutritional tubes for that suit’s reclaimed water and nutri-paste.
  • Built-in vocabulator / annunciator provides clear, audible speech or else sound dampener muffles verbal sounds entirely, at the user’s discretion. Vocal amplifier option is capable of broadcasting voice up to 730m, allowing speaker to address a crowd or reach long distances.
  • Compact closed-circuit rebreather system, providing up to twenty-four (24) hours of breathable air when no other source is available.
  • Filters dust particles, smoke, harmful and / or noxious chemicals, airborne toxins and pathogens, and poisonous gases from the atmosphere to ensure breathable air.
  • Computer Interface Visor uses augmented reality to translate complex computer algorithms and code into easy-to-understand symbols and words when active, making slicing, coding, and interacting with programming used in droids, ships, vehicles, computers, and other systems much more simplified.
  • Aural Amplifiers combine with active noise cancellation (ANC) technology to allow the user to hear whispered conversations at distances up to 20m, while reducing background noise, white noise, etc. for improved clarity. Uses bone-conduction hearing technologies, eliminating obvious earbuds or headphones, maintaining low-profile eavesdropping capability.
  • Ballistic-grade polarizing lenses offer protection against debris and other particles/projectiles and account for incredible durability against rough use, wear, and damage. Since made with empyreal, these thin lenses provide some small measure of protection against blasters and flash to the eyes as well as collect light energy - making the unit self-powered.
  • Anti-fog and moisture-beading coating on lenses allows vision to remain unobstructed.
  • Panoptes HUD provides a wide range of scanners, sensors, and other capabilities, and Crystal Memory system provides ample memory, a large reference database, and processing space.
  • Encrypted Hyperwave / HoloNet Comlink enables (near) real-time long-range communications and data transfer.

WEAKNESSES:
  • Due to micronization, the range of many of the sensors and scanners used in this component are limited to a maximum effective range of 5 km, and many of the chemical sensors to 500m or less with a few (e.g. Hypnoscan, Truth Meter, etc.) working at point-blank or personal range only.
  • It is possible to overload both the user and the system with too much information, creating confusion, disorientation, etc. when using all included scanners, sensors, vision-enhancements, etc. at once. While the droid brain can process and filter information very quickly, it cannot handle too much with the same efficiency, creating lag, disruptions, etc. which can be costly and even dangerous for users. It is highly recommended to limit active use to needed systems only.
  • Using all systems at once has the further drawback of draining power supplies and overwhelming shared antenna, etc. Thus, range, effectiveness, accuracy, and duration can all be negatively affected.
  • While hardened against EMP/Ion, it is not protected against massive attacks using these methods, and further, just as flash bangs and similar weapons can temporarily disrupt or deactivate sensors, this is no different and the same vulnerability exists.
  • Totally vulnerable to lightsabers and lightsaver-type weapons such as light-whips, etc.
  • Impossible to be worn discreetly.
  • Can feel claustrophobic when first worn, making it uncomfortable for unaccustomed users.
  • Aural amplification and noise-cancelling has maximum range of 20m, and will not entirely eliminate background noise, white noise, etc. Further, directed sonic weaponry will overwhelm its auditory protections.
  • Cannot operate computer interface visor and real-time data streaming to HUD simultaneously; one function must be chosen at the sake of other.
  • Completely undefended against Force Abilities.

The Vagabond Helmet provides excellent protection to the wearer, all the while granting terrific communications and sensory advantages as well as protecting them against hostile environments and more. Able to filter out most every kind of dangerous contaminant, particle, and airborne toxins, chemicals, and gases, the VSF offers its users long-term sustainable breathing in most any environment. For those times when no breathable external air exists, it provides up to twenty-four hours of reserve air through its rebreather system.​
The built-in hyperwave comlink is encrypted and able to facilitate excellent long-range communications, just as the Panoptes HUD provides real-time translations and protocol assistance. Further, the Panoptes system used in this design grants the user a broad range of sensors and scanners, meant to ensure situational awareness and near-precognitive assessment of one’s surroundings. The HUD can be pre-set to deliver tailored information and execute particular duties, like say, for example, one wished to concentrate the system to environmental survey and analysis. In this case, DNA tracers and weapons detectors might be switched off to increase the clarity and effectiveness of other scanners better suited to these tasks. Providing excellent multi-spectral vision enhancements also, it is easily on part with the most advanced helmet systems.​
Yet, it does have its drawbacks such as vulnerability to sonic weaponry, lightsaber-type weapons, and Force-powered attacks. The effective range of many of the sensors is limited to less than 5km, while for others it is limited to personal distances only.​
However, the helmet provides stealth enhancement, survivability, and a range of features to assist and enable the wearer’s abilities in a variety of situations and conditions. Worn with the Vagabond Exoskeleton & Survival Suit, it provides full-body coverage and protection.​
