  • Comprehensive Countermeasure, Sensor and Targeting Suite.
  • Small Forward and Rear Attack Profile - Lower Probability of Scoring Hits.
  • Performance Enhancements:
    • Shielded and Aerodynamic - Marginal Increase(s) in Speed and Maneuverability in Atmospheric Conditions.
    • Advanced Power Coupling(s) - Capable of Shunting additional Power to Shields, Weapons, or Engines for Marginal Performance Increases.
  • Squadron Mask - Disables Starfighter's Transponder via Dedicated Jamming Module; Best Used in Dogfights due to Pilot Confusion.
  • SLAM System; Temporary Speed Boost at the Cost of Disabled Armament.
  • Sensor Inverter; Short-ranged Missile Redirector via Microburst EM Pulse - Works best with Conventional Warheads.
WEAKNESSES
  • Heavy Automaton and Slaved Systems; Combat Performance is Significantly Hindered if Disabled by EMP attacks or excess Ionization.
  • Limited EMP and Ion Resistance(s); Sustained Damage is Dependant on Attacking Device(s) Potency / Scale and Proximity.
  • Fixed Forward Weapon Placements; Consistent Reorientation for Target Acquisition.
  • Repulsorlift Jammers; Proximity Dependent as Jammers are Less Effective at a Distance.
  • Advanced Power Couplings - Notable Dips in Operational Performance when Power's Allocated away from Major System(s.)
    • Shunted to Engines: Weapons and Shielding are Weaker.
    • Shunted to Weapons: Speed is Reduced and Shielding is Weaker.
    • Shunted to Shields: Speed is Reduced and Weapons are Weaker.
  • Large Dorsal and Ventral Attack Profile - Higher Probability of Scoring Hits.
  • Squadron Mask - Disables Starfighter's Transponder via Dedicated Jamming Module; Ineffective at Range.
    • Conventional Sensors are Not Effected and the Starfighter / Squadron can still be Targeted.
    • Requires a "Cooldown" After Each Use.
  • SLAM System; Reroutes Power from Weapons to Engines - Temporarily Disables Armament.
  • Assault Shield - Double Front; When Utilized, Port, Starboard and Aft Shielding is Weaker than the Bow / Fore Vector.
  • Sensor Inverter; Works best with Conventional Warheads; Higher Chance of Failure in more Advanced Warheads.
  • Exposed Engine Modules (Aft-Section) with Armoured Housing(s) - Immobilization Possibility.
DESCRIPTION
While there were a plethora of means to transport their Soldiers into the fray, the Galactic Alliance found itself missing an essential vessel amongst their catalogue. This missing piece was a rapid reaction and insertion craft, that would be capable of depositing a small selection of Soldiers where they were needed most - and provide them with enough firepower to keep them safe whilst they disembarked. Thus, after acknowledging this oversight and seeking to swiftly remedy it - the Republic Engineering Corporation embarked on a journey that would eventually produce the UT-70E Troop Transport / Support Craft, or more commonly known as the U-wing by the rest of the Federation’s armed forces.

As its name would suggest, the UT-70E Troop Transport / Support Craft was a spiritual successor to the antiquated UT-60D that once served the ancient Alliance to Restore the Republic, and the New Republic thereafter. Both Spacecraft shared a similar design aesthetic and functionality - even though they were separated by centuries. They held the same dimensions and stylish profile, but where the UT70E diverged from its ancestral cousin - was in the structural composition of the hull and armour plating, alongside the various integrated systems built into the transport’s interior. In many respects, while the aesthetic values of the UT-60D were lovingly recreated, the successor was a wholly different vessel in every possible aspect.

These differences were meant to not only modernize the Corporation’s loving recreation but to set it apart from the other transports that it could’ve offered the Galactic Alliance.

The most notable additions to the U-wing’s venerable design was the inclusion of a SubLight Acceleration Motor - which would temporarily and significantly boost the Transport’s speed beyond its normal operational parameters. In shunting power away from their integrated weapon systems, the U-wing Pilot would be capable of putting the pedal to the metal - in archaic parlance. This temporary speed boost would allow the transport to rapidly punch through hostile blockades, which in turn would allow the vessel to disgorge it’s passenger complement far faster than the other Gunships, or Dropships offered by Republic Engineering. While some considered this to be risky, as flying headlong into enemy territory without weapons was seemingly suicidal - the benefit of racing past stationary fortifications, or picket lines was wholly invaluable.

From there, the UT-70E was outfitted with a curious addition that was designed to supplement the disembarkation process. This was the Selective Blaster Neutralizer that was integrated into the exterior hull plating of the transport. While it was incapable of wholly negating the plasmatic lethality of energy-based weaponry, this system would offer the U-wing’s passengers an additional layer of protection against incoming enemy fire - as they departed the vessel. However, such protective measures were only as effective as the surrounding environment permitted. As the deployment of dampening aerosols was hampered by high-velocity winds - often summoned into existence by several starships with staggered landing patterns.

Thus, with the UT-70E Troop Transport / Support Craft in hand, the Galactic Alliance Defence Force would find itself capable of rapidly responding to the myriad threats that sought to emerge, and engulf the Galaxy.
