Private Unravelling Dark Deeds

Prakith. Forbidding, dark, strange. Residing deep within Galactic Alliance space, yet a beacon of darkness all the same. Saeva heard its call. Or, more precisely, Saeva's master did - and had sent his apprentice to do his bidding. Hundreds of kilometres from the nearest Prakith city, the very mountain of the volatile and volcanic planet was being carved open. The broken and unstable territory surrounding the dig site only increased its isolation.

Saeva would never have been able to open temples of old on his own. Knowing this, his master had sent people with him. On the outskirts of the site, they wore the badges of Alliance security officers. On site the markings of some mining company could be seen. Inside, however, no such illusions were held. Soldiers and engineers, under Sith command, was trying to reach something deep within.

The perimeter held a guard, and a couple of turrets had been set up to cover them while work went on. A small operation, but too big and it would draw unwanted attention. Good thing no one would discover them this way, right?

Right?

...Right?

The team had at some point managed to connect with what had once been some temple's corridors. Much of its hallways had collapsed, so even finding the underground structure they would have to work it. But further down, deep within, there lay a sanctum untouched, or at least so Saeva hoped as he kept searching. Whatever was within called to him. It was of the Dark Side, like much of Prakith, yet smaller, distinct... What he could not tell, but he knew it was what he had been sent to retrieve, and no small amount of resources had been spent to see him succeed.

"Going to bring us down," Valery told her astromech, who whined something in response about not liking creepy planets with Sith history to them. Normally, she would have tried to reassure her friend, and tell him that it's completely safe now that the Alliance has control over the planet. But what she had seen in her visions made it impossible to offer that comfort.

Something dark was happening down there, and that's exactly why she came.

As a former Jedi Shadow, Valery was trained specifically to track down and fight anything tainted by the Dark Side, and now, as the NJO's Sword, it was her duty to the Jedi and to the Force to be the tip of the spear against the darkness as well. So when she learned of the potential threat looming on Prakith, she didn't hand the assignment over to other Jedi but accepted it herself just to be safe.

Soon after, her X-wing touched down not far away from the source of darkness she sensed, and after climbing out of the cockpit and leaving her helmet behind, Valery began to quietly move towards her target.

There would be guards posted all around, in an attempt to have all angles of approach covered. They were not an army, however. The guards usually split off into groups of two, but there would be a considerable distance between the different groups. Closer to the main entrance, however, the clustered together more, and there were a few make-shift turrets set up temporarily.

A deterrent to intruders, but in no way Jedi proof.

Saeva’s crimson blade illuminated the dark halls. He had followed a combination of narrow hallways into a large room. He almost felt guided here. The now sunken temple was no maze, and though dark, he felt it was clear this was where it wanted him to go.

Yet now he stared at a dead end. The end of the room marked what looked like a painted on doorframe, red upon brick, but within it there was simply more brick. Even reaching out with the Force, he could feel a pull coming from behind, but no amount of effort would make the door move. At the center there was a small pillar, holding up a stone tablet.

«A puzzle. Great» he remarked sarcastically. This might take some time…

Feeling the trouble ahead, Valery stopped walking and let out a soft sigh while she tried to focus. There was a dark presence she felt as a corrupted tremor in the Force but it wasn't alone, so she had to be careful. Even with her strength in the Force and experience, she knew better than to rush into a whole group of enemies, especially when she wasn't quite sure who they were.

So for this mission, Valery decided to tap back into her old training as a Jedi Shadow.

Her breathing steadied, her eyes closed for a moment and after connecting with the Force, she wrapped it around herself to bend light and sound waves around herself. This way, she cloaked herself in the Force and continued her path forward without anybody able to see or hear her. She already kept her presence buried as well, so even a Force user would struggle to detect her. Now, from the Shadows, she made her approach.

On the outskirts of the ruins, she soon spotted her first targets — a pair of guards who had no idea that she was there, watching them from on top of a rock. Whenever Valery worked as a Shadow again, she was without hesitation and incredibly efficient, and they were going to learn it the hard way. As she jumped down and briefly stepped out of her Cloak, the two purple blades of her saberstaff ignited, and she swept them through her enemies.

Before they even realized what was happening, the first patrol was taken down, and Valery moved back towards the main structure within her cloak.
