Under Cover of Night (FO Military)

Kyli DT-6767
Takodana, Banshee-851 Dropship/Gunship

Equipment:
A lone boltgun grey silhoutte shrieks quietly with the distinct feedback of its' Ion engines above the shimmering green surface of Takodana the beautiful verdant world covered beneath a shroud so potent it could only be cast by a moonless night. The Banshee-851 Dropship elegantly straddes the hill and tree-tops moving with a grace more associated with entertainers and ice-dancers rather than some heavy dropship, within its' hold is a team of First Order Soldiers who had been dispatched to evaluate and disrupt an alleged smuggling ring operating deep within Takodana's lush jungles away from prying eyes or First Imperial Troops. The cool winter's keen frosty air had seen that the planet's many lakes had frozen over and gleamed brilliantly beneath the star's gaze, with that icy veil hanging low over the world's surface. Proud of her occupation the Death Trooper known as 'Kyli DT-6767' retires back into her seat with safety bars pinned against her hips causing her to shift somewhat in discomfort and adjusts an ominous black rifle held in what seemed to be a crushing grip with its' metal body thumbing and clacking loudly under the hold of strength that ostensibly seemed supernatural to many ordinary soldiers there was a weight to the Death Trooper's every movement and the mere turning of helmeted head solicited a barely audible groan from the bodysuit's hermetic seal created by the friction sandwiched between said seal and unbelievably weighty black metal helmet that swallowed its' wearer's disturbingly youthful visage entirely. More than one Veteran Storm Commando was shocked to discover that ALPHA's infamous sniper and designated marksman was a girl young enough in some cases to be the observer's daughter fresh out of training. But Kyli and her Death Trooper compatriots were anything but fresh out of their course, they wouldn't send such individuals to handle such a delicate operation in restricted numbers against what Intelligence had indicated could be a heavily armed paramilitary organisation.

"Remember we'll be moving together and maintaining radio silence for the Operation's entire duration, hand-signals and verbal orders only, exercise adequate noise discipline." Pulling rank on the Cargo Bay's other occupants casually she manually opens her ubiquitous weapons' heat-sinks and inspects them closely and every quarter of a minute adjusts the Scope's sight with great care and precision, attempting to hone it for lethal accuracy betraying the woman's underlying paranoia and perfectionism. Swinging her left forearm-around to the seat beside presenting it boldly to Luther Ando exposing a small opening that revealed some modest IV port in the armour, she'd experienced a nearly-fetal incident with an anti-tank mine recently and been so injured that the effects had actually penetrated the Supersoldier's beyond resilient pain tolerance. "Andie, Bacta stim." Kyli demanded cooly being comfortable with nobody more aboard the Banshee Dropship than one of her own team whose' presence was akin to that of a family members in its' ability to soothe stress and anxiety that the Death Trooper outwardly exhibited with a constant fidgeting within the safety of her seat. As the Banshee drew closer to its' landing the cargo ramp steadily drops down sucking in a terribly cold chill up through its' cargo hold, enough to cut through the Environmental Control System for but a moment forcing Kyli's body to sacrifice a quick shiver, muscles around spine contract and then spasm unpleasantly. Kyli waits patiently for Luther to release that Bacta stim into her veins so that the grisly injuries sustained and concealed beneath hundreds of kilograms of steel armour might heal with greater expediency. Obtaining the temperature with but a thought the number in degrees celsius was displayed on the helmet-mounted display against the silvery visor that partitioned the smooth skin of her face protecting it from the ghastly chill. "It's cold out there, bring your thermals?" Kyli jests dryly to Luther and anybody else who could hear the Sardonic humour offered up by the Death Trooper, releasing an acerbic chuckle.

Luther stretched in his seat, in an effort to keep his muscles warm and limber. The cold penetrated everywhere, even the sealed atmosphere of the dropship. Luther could see that he wasn't the only one feeling it. Soldiers were a funny lot. The heat of battle usually kept them warm, the moving about and the rush of blood. Staying warm while strapped in to the drop ship required more effort and was often conducive to swearing. But training prevailed, and no one raised a word of complaint.

A few of the men had nervous tics, like shuffling in their seats or checking their weapon for the thousandth time. This included Kyli, though Luther suspected it was based on a bond for her weapon rather than nervousness. The young female Deathtrooper would be leading the operation, which Luther could see grated on some of the other troopers. Old war dogs often had trouble listening to new blood, no matter how experienced. Luther wondered how they'd react to the old Kyli, as scarred as an old blaster and twice as mean?

Most of the troopers were veterans, you needed well trained soldiers on ops like these, and Luther had met most of them during the briefing. Before most operations he tried to get to know who he was fighting alongside. He was met with very few friendly faces. Most either feared him or didn't trust him. ALPHA seemed to carry a stigma. There were a few unfamiliar faces, however, so there was hope yet.

Kyli addressed the others before asking Luther for a stim. He pulled it from the bag at his feet, shaking the contents of the syringe to get the chemical cocktail active. The injection was nearly five times the regular dose of bacta, dangerous for normal humanoids, however ALPHA wasn't normal

"There" he said as he injected the stim into a open slot near the neck. "And I know it's bloody cold, I don't need you or my thermal sensors to tell me. I can feel it" he grumbled. He reached back into his pack and pulled out two small satchels. He clipped one to his belt and passed the other to Kyli. "We better start taking these on our missions. They're three month supplies of our meds. If one of us goes AWOL, we'll need it to survive. Unless you prefer to have your muscles fail and organs shut down".

He stretched again, cracking his back. He tweaked the environmental controls on his suit to try and get a little more comfortable. The ship descended, rapidly approaching their destination.

Kyli breathes a gentle sigh of relief into her helmet's space and eases back slightly, the lacerations were yet healing and the Physicians back onboard the ship were surprised the woman was walking but then again they'd not spend much time around the AFTERLIFE Death Troopers either to whom super was the new normal. "Cheers, Andie." The Dropship decelerated steadily, Kyli feels its' weight shift from the bow to the stern and forcing the restraint up over her head stands within the Cargo bay with eyes towards the now open ramp revealing a winter wonderland of a landscape, a thick sheet of ice and snow laid over Takodana's surface and it occured to the woman for a moment that she had little experience in the snow, spending most of your life in military installations or aboard Warships wasn't exactly conducive to being intimately familiar with one's environments. "Our El-Zee looks clear, I'm bringing her down standby to deploy" The Pilot's deep voice rumbles through their helmets and the cargo bay itself, assessing his instrument panel the pilot realizes one of the chair restraints had been broken; probably one of the Death Troopers he thought but said nothing to scold them for fear of reprisal. The Banshee sinks into the snow with its' landing gear somewhat, Kyli in her brand new Power Armour leaps forward dramatically after a short run-up and landing in the snow sending a splash of it everywhere with a childish grin stretching across her concealed visage. "I think I'm in love with this thing." Kyli raises from her kneeling position and pulls G-6E Light Repeating Blaster from its' place on the magnetic holster against right-thigh and she turns looking towards the Dropship's exposed Cargo hold and waits for Andie and the Gaggle of Stormtroopers mixed in with Storm Commandos; the best Special Warfare Group could cobble together on such short notice, enough personnel to split into two bricks and proceed to the suspected Smuggler position though. Shouldering her weapon Kyli's helmet-mounted display places a small diamond on the bearing they were supposed to move on; far to the North into the snowy hills perfect defensive positions and provided excellent visibility over the valley no doubt if there was hostile contacts there they are going to run into them eventually. Kyli starts steadily marching through the frozen dead forest, surrounded by greyed trees reaching upto the sky proudly though they were stripped bald of any leaves or greenery, the landscape's pallet was bland and lacked diversity at this time of the planet's rotational cycle around its' local star. Kyli begins hymning a quiet tune on her lips, for those familiar it was an antiquated piece of Opera revealing the woman atleast passingly familiar with the Genre.

He thought the dropship was cold, but it was nothing compared to the outside air. He swore quietly as he slogged through drifts of snow, taking care to mask his tracks. He should be used to the cold, growing up on Belsavis, but truth be told he had always hated it. It stole precious warmth, and the feeling of it always reminded him of the icy touch of death.

He shook the despondent thoughts from his head, instead focusing on the mission. They were making good time, despite the need for stealth and the covering of tracks. The team had spread out, using natural foliage to their advantage. A moonless night was specifically chosen for this op, and they relied mainly on the dark to keep them unnoticed.

He paused briefly to check his HUD. The navigation system was tracking their movements. He activated his comms, ensuring that it wasn't set to project outside the suit. "Kyli" he said. "My NAV system puts us about two klicks from our destination. How do you want us to approach this?" He deferred to her authority, she was in a better position to understand what was going on. Luther was just there to keep the troops moving.

'The sooner we are out of this frozen hell, the better' he thought morosely.

Equipment:

Snow crunching beneath her boots while marching along the frozen riverbank with several inches of snow beneath feet Kyli listens to Luther's question and spares a glance through the leafless trees to the foreboding silhouette belonging to the great mountain despite its' presence the young woman finds a certain beauty in the Winter Wonderlands' moonless darkness which with her honed eyes found pleasant to study every fine detail that the normal Human eye might not identify. "You and I advance up the center while the Troopers engage in a pincer around the OpFor's position so we can prevent foot pursuits." Kyli's left-hand comes away from her weapon and gives a pair of sharp gestures to the Storm Commandos and Stormtroopers who already flanked the ALPHA Death Troopers forming an extended file, signalling for them to break into two teams and execute mentioned Pincer. "We best get the set-up going now, if either teams are engaged we'll be able to identify hostile defensive positions such as laser cannon emplacements." Pausing Kyli catches a glimpse of some figure in the distance and immediately raises her weapon though in that time splitting moment the man seemed to vanish from her sight. "Did you see that?" Kyli calmly queries Luther over their TEAMCOMM channel and remains halted taking a knee she continue scanning through the Forest without much in the way of explanation, could have just been Kyli's eyes casually scanning their environment. Searching inwardly for a moment ALPHA-TWO rises to her feet and gives a dismissive waving gesture with off-hand. "It's nothing, just seeing things. Cold-air mirage probably." Continuing with eyes shifting over to her motion tracker there are no contacts and the thought she had just thought up a man deeply disturbed Kyli and even after the fact she couldn't clearly recall their features despite taking note of them not a minute ago. The orange diamond that marks their destination upon her helmet-mounted display reads 1,523 Meters, not too far off now she raises her weapon again shouldering it firmly and focuses like some Predator-possessed. "You have to help them sixty-seven, they're under attack and in Danger." The familiar war-weathered voice fills Kyli's mind and she rolls her eyes around in their sockets and attempts to identify the source on one of the many displayed Comm Channels against the inside of Visor but finds no activity, shaking helmeted head firmly to rattle the thoughts free from their moorings.
