STRENGTHS
  • Shield Stripping Weapon: This weapon is built to rapidly damage and overload the shields of enemy capital ships, but can still do slightly under average damage against armour
  • Beam weapon: The Lance Gun requires almost no lead on targets, and ablative or reactive armour is largely ineffective thanks to a semi-persistent beam of energy

WEAKNESSES
  • Range Tuning: The tuning lenses within this weapon cause its damage to reduce when closer to the firing ship
  • Ungainly: This weapon has a slow turn rate, making it ill suited for close range battles and for use against smaller ships
  • Heat dissipating armour: Any material good at dissipating heat rapidly is especially resistant against this weapon

DESCRIPTION

Designed to synergise with the Type 1 Plasma Broadside Gun, the bright white lancing beams strip shields from targets before a broadside finishes the stricken ship. The lance is made both for single barreled turrets, and for larger batteries depending on the size of the ship it’s mounted on.

The lance gun consists of a large capacitor bank, along with an emitter and multiple movable focussing lenses. The capacitors funnel a large amount of power into the emitter, the beam produced is then focussed through the lenses, allowing it to maintain cohesion at long range but sacrificing close range firepower due to where the lance is strongest.
