- Composition: Tvarka Defenders' composition can vary widely depending upon the region of space and Lord they serve, but are often divided into three branches:
- Prime Defenders: Frontline infantry that are most often found holding defensive positions or fighting alongside traditional military units.
- Service Defenders: Support crews who battle fires, clear rubble, and ensure the evacuation of non-essential personnel.
- Medical Defenders: Often made up of civilian medical staff, Sith citizens with any degree of medical training often serve in this role.
While all citizens of the Sith Empire are to obey their Sith superiors, the Defenders are to swear an oath upon being called up to defend the various worlds of the Order as well as a more direct call to serve the reigning Emperor or Empress. Current Defenders are called to serve Empress

The Sith Order is inherently dedicated to conquest and subjugation. The Sith seek to dominate the entire galaxy and will never stop attempting to achieve this lofty goal, but that does not mean the territory they currently rule is entirely safe from attack. While the Blackwall ensures any invader will face an uphill battle to reach Sith worlds, in recent years, several hostile invasions have revealed the need for a rapid-response force to ensure every populated world has some defense in the face of hostile invaders. While many Sith Lords, especially Sith Governors, maintain their own personal forces, they cannot (and sometimes will not) properly defend every world within the domain of the Empress, and so it comes to the average Sith citizen to defend their homes and kin.
The Tvarka Defenders (Order Defenders) were formed by official decree of the government on Jutrand to ensure military-age citizens not already conscripted are given a minimum of six weeks of military training, with additional training to be determined by local governors. This basic training ensures that nearly every Sith citizen is capable of taking up arms to defend their worlds and buy time for a proper military response. Depending upon the length of the campaign or the severity of the threat, Tvarka Defenders may serve for a few months or up to several years, some units even being incorporated in the military proper, depending upon their service record or the dire necessity to reinforce frontline forces on other fronts.
Tvakra Defenders are the first line of defense for many Sith worlds, and they show dedication and loyalty to their Sith masters, regardless of the great sacrifices asked of them in defense of the Empress's realm.
