The transport bucked and rocked as they were going around, getting the kinks out of the vehicle as she was letting herself look on at the miners. Whatever was coming to attack them she had ways to deal with and going over it in her head Basaba stomped down on the gas as the transport went faster. The first signs something was coming at them in the distance and she spoke setting up their equipment as she turned to speak to one of the bladesisters in the transport. Crammed in her armor and on the missiles. "Target them and if they go hostile let them have it." The small smirk on her face though had Basaba moving towards them faster and it started to accelerate as they hit an even patch while the missiles on the roof warmed up and she could hear the gun rotating.

"Understood. I'll meet you at the village," Siobhan said, then cut the comms connection to Anija's battleship. Wasting no time, she quickly made her way down from the bridge and eventually boarded a shuttle, which would take her planetside so that she could meet the Marshal when she showed up. Reports were already incoming from the Firemane troops down on the ground. An LZ near a village had been secured, some sporadic fighting with raiders, but nothing major.

Speaking of Firemane troops, while Siobhan was making her way to the planet her loyal minions were introducing the Elomites to the wonders of modern firepower. In this particular instance Sergeant Solveig was introducing a couple of militiamen to a wonderful weapon.

"This is an MKII bolter," she declared, holding up the weapon so that they could see. Prior to that she had disassembled and reassembled the gun. They better be paying attention! Or not, for Solveig liked to yell at recruits. "Pay attention and this thing can save your life."

"It looks like a slugthrower, ma'am. What use are those against the pirates' armour? They got blasters," one of the natives spoke in slightly accented Basic. Well, he could not be faulted for this assumption because the outdated sluggers the militia used were crappy.

"This is way better than crappy old sluggers. It fires 25mm x 40 mm explosive bolts on semiautomatic. One metre casualty zone against humanoids, up to three metre they cause damage through blast and shrapnel. Oh, and they explode on impact, so if a Forcer tries to toss a bolt back it'll blow up in his face. Ideal for suppressive fire, crowd control and bombardment. 100m for specific aimed shot, 500m for area suppression/bombardment. Remember: Minimum range is 5m. Forget that and you'll blow up yourself. Got that? Good. Secondary ammunition is buckshot for close quarters," she demonstrating loading the gun, took aim upon a target and then fired.

There was a flat crack when the bolter fired and then a loud boom when the target was blown into pieces. "Stance is important. This thing's heavy, so make sure you spread the weight across your whole body," she handed the gun to one of the militiamen, who held it, albeit a bit clumsily. Needless to say Solveig quickly grabbed him and corrected his stance. "There, like that. It's not fething rocket science. Look through the scope, take aim and fire."

"The gun's bloody heavy," the trooper complained, feeling a bit annoyed.

"Go more to the gym," Solveig instructed, being as helpful as usual. "The MKI is even heavier and our boss dual wields them." This was because Siobhan Kerrigan was frankly nuts. "Don't even try doing that unless you want to break your wrists." The trooper grunted a bit, but then did as instructed. Bang. Target died, though the recoil threw him back a bit, but Solveig caught him in her tough grip. "You'll get used to it," then she gestured to one of the Firemane minions. "Right, get the rest of this lot to learn how it works, make them assemble guns until they can do it in their sleep and put them on the range. Make sure they don't blow off their feet." Things were clearly going very well!

Anija's shuttle touched down with a soft bump on the cleared landing zone near the Elom settlement. From the shuttle, she could clearly see the damage that had been wrought by the pirates. From her shuttle, and the other two which had come with her, issued a compliment of Protector infantry. With them the had brought enough supplies to build a protective wall around several settlements.

Anija watched for a few moments, as she exited the shuttle. The protectors had their task well in hand. Throughout the settlement, Anija could see and hear various Mandalorians instructing the Elom in the use of more modern weaponry. They seemed to be picking it up fairly well.

Anija slowly moved away from the shuttle, limping slightly. It was not long ago that she'd gotten into a training accident. Very few knew the actual story, and she intended to keep it that way. And she was glad of the body glove and gorget which his the bruising on her neck.

Even with that, she knew, people like Sio would sense her discomfort. As much as she tried to hide it. Even so, she was limping quite a bit as she went in search of Sio.

Lilin was among the few who'd come to the surface of Elom a while ago, even though she wasn't even a Mandalorian nor had any true reason to be there, helping this warrior race. But she did want to aid them at what they were trying to do. After all, Mandalorians were against the Sith and you know what they say? The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

She was at the area where the Mobile Surgical Units were supposed to be coming, at least to her knowledge. There was this man with his team already there, she thought she'd heard his name was Kad Tor.

Her backpack was full of medical things from first aid to some more -- she had not wanted to take too much of her own stuff there because she knew Mandalorians would be taking their things along and maybe if she asked them nice enough, they'd let her use these things.

Who knew? Perhaps this was a start of a long-term alliance between her and the mandos?

The ramp of the dropship thudded down and allowed Dariak and his scouts to disembark. They ran down as a wave of black armoured plates and pelt-covered shoulders. Adorned with Crusasder markings and weapons. Yet Dariak had been clear to his warriors that they were merely here to help keep the medical supplies and warriors safe from either the locals or the pirates who had been giving the locals hell. Medical tech sold for a pretty bit of credit on the black-market and Dariak was keen to stop anything untoward from happening.

A male voice filled his comm. The HUD ID flagged it as Kad Tor, a man he had never met. <<"Aye roger that mate. I'm on the deck about two hundred meters from ye. I'll have my lads an' lassies set up a few OPs. I'll meetcha at the drop point while they set up.">>

With that said he tapped his helmet to signal them to rally to him. They took a knee beside Dariak who in turn did the same with a map. "Four point OPs. Two men each. Leaves two for a roamin' patrol between the points. Nice little box around the MSUs. Keep alert but also keep ready to move. Don't get comfortable in yer digs. We might get re-tasked. Alright go have fun."

Dariak stored the paper map away before he took off in a walking pace with his carbine in his hands, looking around the area of the cold desert world. He wondered if there was any worthy hunting in the vast wilderness but pushed the thought back. He had to focus on this mission which seemed a far cry from the usual Mandalorian efforts. Maybe making friends had its advantages. Here and there.

The first of the shuttles had just touched down next to their shuttle and Orick could finally get some fresh mountain air, filled with dirt and dust. He glanced over at ana and smiled, " Ready to get this show started?" He said. Outside droids were already unloading crates filled with medical supplies and several easy to construct modular huts. It wouldn't be as professional as a major system hospital, but it was light years above the technology that the people already had. He had 'borrowed' this stuff with the intention of leaving everything in place, and by the look of the small village around them, they would need all of the help they could get.

A small detachment of battle droids fanned out to cover the perimeter of the village as they stepped off of the shuttles "You should probably handle the talking and stuff, you're much better at it than I am. I'll handle the the construction and the droids." He said to Ana before giving giving her hand a final squeeze and wandering over to the crates.

He could have handled the meet and greet without any problem, but that smile of hers, well she had used ti to good effect on him many time in the past and he knew just how effective it was at defusing tense situations.

Briika strapped on her medkit, then exited the medivac dropship by jumping down to the ground from the transport's deck where her heavy boots left an imprint on the drought-hardened high-desert floor. It was a desolate land where the surface settlement of Elom was located. It would indeed take a lot of work to get this place self-sufficient and functional again from just what she saw of the settlement in the near distance.

The blonde baar'ur waved to [member="Kad Tor"] as her younger brother came to greet her. He had been with the Medical Corps' advance team securing the LZ and site for the Mobile Surgical Unit to deploy at. It pleased her that the goran by trade was interested in perhaps using his newly found Force ability to help heal the wounded, though he hadn't really done much of that yet...

< "Su'cuy, vod'ikaElek, you have done well. This is a good spot to set up," > Bree nodded as the rest of the medical personnel and supplies arrived from the Vencuyanir via other medivac dropships and LAAT/c's dropping off the modular container boxes that would be used for the front line hospital and subsequent facilities along with heavy-duty tents. It would take the medical team and support staff just under an hour to be fully functional. Lots of hard work and training had gone into making this endeavor run like clock-work. Everyone knew what their tasks were. It was an achievement Bree was proud of helping in make happen with the backing of MandalMedical and MandalTech.

Briika gave some orders to her second in command, then inquired. < "Have you had much resistance here? Once we get the Rimsoo up and running, I'd like to take a trip into the settlement itself to recon the situation and see what we'll need to re-establish their medical facilities there." >

<<<"We have not had much here. The settlement has been picked over quite a bit, and all able bodied men are here to help in the efforts. The woman and children are being held in a shelter for now. We should be able to put a team togehter to locate supplies for whatever facility we establish for more permanent care here.">>>

Kad felt proud his sister approved of his efforts thus far. Normally he would blowing things up about now, killing assailants, and making loud war crys. This was very new for him, and he wasn't sure he liked it. Briika started to give orders, and he let her be for now as she had a lot of work to oversee. Kad's job was to handle those who did not have jobs and help triage as many of the wounded as possible. Eyes fell young blondish looking woman with a medical pack over her back. She was pretty, but young looking, about the age most women in his culture took a husband. The fact she was not wearing beskar'gam told him she was not of his people however.

<<<"You there,">>> his modulated voice came through his buy'ce, <<<"I need help with triage. We have to decide who gets in first once the unit is up. The most severe to the least severe. Do you have much experience in working with wounded?"

Kad waited for her answer, hoping his appearance would not be intimidating to the young woman. He did not intend to scare her off, but rather needed her help. Ever since the disappearnce of his riduur, Kad was more gruff of a man.

Firemane soldiers were busy providing training to a militia unit by the time Siobhan arrived and so she soon received a progress report when her comm beeped. So far things were going well enough, as her minions were acquainting the natives with the use of the bolter. They would be drilled over and over again until they understood how to use the gun, then pitted against training droids. So far things were going well enough! Only one militiamen had been taken to the infirmary because the poor fellow had forgotten that little tidbit about the minimum range and thus been hit by shrapnel.

Ouch. That had obviously been unpleasant, but he'd live. As Siobhan left her shuttle, Firemane soldiers and engineers came with her. They had brought supplies to build a protective wall around a couple settlements, barricades and disassembled turrets. Nothing too fancy to make Elom a fortress, but enough to protect the settlements against the raiders and pirates this planet tended to attract. Noise could be heard throughout the settlement as Firemane and Mandalorian soldiers provided education for the natives.

With everything well in hand and the LZ secured by a contingent of troopers, Siobhan left the shuttle and, having noticed Anija from afar, approached her. Since she was not here to fight - and in any it was just raiders - Siobhan had decided against wearing her beskar'gam and instead wore a Firemane uniform. The Countess walked with a slight limp, the result of one too many injuries sustained, and was forced to use a cane for support, though she still tried to carry herself with pride.

However, when she was finally close enough to Anija her brow furrowed. The woman was limping. That itself did not trouble Siobhan extremely, since she figured it might have been due to injuries sustained during combat or training. However, there was a feeling of discomfort emanating from the Mandalorian that seemed concerning. "Hey, Anija. Long time no see," she said. Siobhan's empathy was terribly underdeveloped, but she could sense something was not right with the Field Marshal, though she wholly in the dark as to the cause or nature of it. "You alright? What happened to you?"

Anija slowed slightly, waiting for Sio to reach her, Beneath her helmet, Anija's jaw was set in pain. Oh, Draco had made certain she'd gotten to a hospital, but even she knew that some wounds would take longer to heal than others. She wasn't really aware of what she was radiating in the Force, and she really didn't care... although she was trying to make an effort not to radiate too much. it wasn't easy.

"Cuy, Sio..." she said softly, much more subdued than she normally was. It had been all she could do to maintain that she was fine and normal over the comm. Only those who knew her well might have picked up on the pitch of her voice. Her entire body ached. She'd sworn off any painkillers the medics had tried to give her, worried that they might dull her reflexes. Which of course made the medics think she was jare'la.

Maybe she was. Right now, she honestly didn't give a feth. Carefully, she reached out to grip Sio's arm in the traditional warrior's greeting... and yet her grip was not as strong or firm as it night have been in times past. At Sio's question, she sighed, and looked away briefly - as if trying to choose her words. That too was strange. Anija was usually one who was straight to the point. "Training accident..." she said after a span of several seconds. That much was true. But as to particulars... she wasn't sure she wanted to go into that. Not in the open at least.

It hurt to stand, and after a moment, Anija moved to lean against the hull of one of the now-empty shuttles. "Happened just before I left to come here. Maybe two days ago..."

Rianna was going over the support plan with the teams. "Your primary mission of finding the injured and ill still stands, those in need of surgery will now be taken to where the surgical unit has set up"

Rianna's fingers glided across the top of the holo table bringing up the terrain below them, "watch the flow do not overwhelm the teams, make decisions based on the needs of the patient, and most of all this is not a contest we are in support of one another" Her eyes rested on the faces closest to her she needed to make several points with them as there had been many changes among the ranks.

They needed to get use to her as much as she needed to get use to them, their styles, and how they worked together.

"Let's get ready to deploy the shuttles" Rianna waved her hand over the table and it blinked out.

Rianna thought of [member="Ordo"] and of their children D'ral and Maeve how things change and yet how much they stayed the same.

A small gathering had appeared outside of where they had landed. Villagers curious to see what was going on and who now had come to their little village now. The look on their faces painted a picture of tragedy and pain. She could see from here that they had been majorly affected by the civil war that had occurred. A place this size just didn't have the resources to get back up on their feet which was why they had come. To help them pick up the pieces and move forward which was something Ana knew to be a very daunting task.

Stepping forward with her basket of goodies she went towards the chief of the clan to speak with him. Ana could tell who that was from his attire. The goodies she kind of wanted to pass out to the children but first she needed to speak him him so that she could be informed of the situation here.

"I'm Rally Master Anastasia Rade. we come baring aid and supplies to help you. Captain T'ane, my husband, is unloading the supplies now," she smiled motioning to her husband whom was with the droids unloading the cargo. She knew how clans worked and they valued family. She hoped that she could put them at easy and since Orick was with her they wouldn't fuss about him. "How can we best help?" She rather ask than just takeover and force herself on them. She wished to show the softer side of the Mandos.

"Chief A'zothoih, we thank you for your help. Let me show you the destruction the war caused. Many of our homes were destroyed, many lives lost. The people are scared that the pirates will show up again and take the little we have left."

As Ana followed him she could hear the defeated tone in the man's voice. He felt as if he had failed his people, she could see it in his face. The village was small therefore the walk through was rather quick. Most of the houses were burnt down and she could see that their fields had been been burnt as well. People were standing around trying to pick up whatever they could and was left. She decided that when the tour was completed she would be coming back this area to help.

What made Ana stop though was the little girl maybe four rummaging around the rubble as if looking for something. She was alone which was why Ana stopped. Had this little one lost her parents? Taking a few steps forward Ana knelt down by the rubble that used to be her home. "What are you looking for sweetie? Maybe I can help?"

Pausing the little girl turned to look at her with tears in her eyes. "I can't find teddy," she began to sob again. "He's gone just like mommy and daddy are gone. everyone is gone." Bringing her little hands up to her eyes she tried to wipe the tears away.

Ana's heart sank as she quickly got up to scoop up the little in her arms. "Let's find teddy together." She smiled reaching up to dry the little girl's eyes before going to look for this bear. Getting only a nod Ana went to work. It was a hopeless search but this little one was gettinga bear one way or another.

Siobhan was not much of an empath, but she could see that Anija was not doing well. She could see that the woman was hurt due to her limp, but somehow she doubted that her worst injuries were physical. No, something else seemed to ail her. At the same time she doubted the Mandalorian would be terribly inclined to spill her guts right now. Especially since they in the middle of a settlement and had official business to conduct. At least that's what Sio's mind set would be if she was in her position.

So she gave the Field Marshal a pat on the shoulder. "That seems like a lot more than a training accident," she commented. "Look, if you don't want to talk about it now out in the open, I get that. But we can talk when we're less in public, if you like. Take it from someone who's been through plenty of crap and tried the 'bottle it up and try to act tough' strategy a lot of times...and found out it doesn't work."

"Speartip is inbound in three to settlement, cleared LZ just outside, transmitting drop pod coordinates now."

There was a sudden woomph outside that anyone within radius could see. A man began walking forward slowly as the door on a battered drop pod, painted a scarred smattering of Mandalorian Protectors colors and a white and gold set of jaig eyes. What emerged from it, if anyone saw, was a nightmare as it strode forward with an bared sword gleaming with corsuca gems and an edge unnaturally keen and gleaming. A shotgun like gun hung from a bandolier along his chest, along with a collection of frag grenades. Following, he walked up to the younger woman leaning over the gap and smiled broadly as he looked to Strider.

"Hmmmm... Awful big.... You want some help getting down? I might just be able to do that..."

He shifted his feet, seeming to grow uncomfortable, grimacing in clear pain as the exposed sections of his skin seemed to rip open and then close in certain spots, his skin turning a sort of yellow-gold right before their eyes and he nodded. Looking the group in the eyes, he smiled and gestured. He had more toys back in the drop pod if need be too, depending on what was called for.

"Should I armor up fully and just fly the little lass down there? Summoning the armor only takes a moment..."

Nothing was said to Strider, who knew Ijaat and knew he had vanished during a fight with a Sith Lord on Adumar. And now he was back, with armor coming directly out of his skin... But offering no explanation to the older mandalorian or those around him who, when they saw, were obviously off-put.

Anija smiled slightly at the touch on her shoulder and sighed. Taking a moment to fiddle with her gauntlet computer, she instructed the Hyperion miners to begin moving towards the mine. From reports, it sounded like Sio had most of the negotiating part in hand. Having done so, she looked back up at Sio and sighed. "I'd like to talk, if you don't mind. I know the timing isn't great, but.. I think I need to."

Sighing softly, she turned and ducked back into the shuttle she'd vacated only recently, gesturing Sio to follow. Inside, the small craft was deserted, the miners and their equipment having moved on several minutes before. Grunting, Anija dropped carefully into one of the empty jump seats which ran along the inside hull of the vessel. They were't the most comfortable, but they would do.

When she was comfortable, Anija reached up to slowly remove her helmet. As she set it aside, the bruising across her face and neck became apparent. It wasn't as bad as the day it had happened, but still rather visible as a deep purple bruising. Also visible on her face were fading marks and welts.. burns from the lightning. For now, she simply sat there and tried to find her calm center. it was not easy.

What? Did the man just talk to LIlin? Well, she was not even sure if the person was a man -- he was wearing the Mandalorian armor.

"I am not a doctor, but I can treat injuries and wounds, yes," she answered to the man, walking closer to him. Looked like the mandos were willing to let allies help them. Which was nice, she thought.

Indeed, Lilin had some knowledge and experience in the medical field; having lost two mothers (one biological and one step-mother), she had had to do so much on her own as the oldest child to her father.

"So... The question is, where are the injured? Where will they be directed?

She looked at the man's helmet. Gosh, even their armour was fearsome, not even talking about the way they acted. She hoped they wouldn't kill her on the mission.

She looked at the man, one offering to give her some assistance, and saw the armour he was sporting. She had seen that before, knew what that was. But out of respect to this man she kept her trap shut. The horrors unleashed upon him from the Sith must have played awful tunes throughout his mind. There was no need to offer her condolences up to the warrior, they both knew what he had gone through and openly speaking about it would seem like an injustice to him. Besides, what could she possibly say to ease the mental suffering that was no doubtedly eating away at his soul. At least he survived the ritual, others were not so fortunate. Yet, even that was a prize nobody wished to win.

"I would really appreciate the help, vod"

One more look into the hole and she was absolutely sure she wanted to go down there. There was something stirring about in those caverns. Her gut never lied. People lied. Governments lied. Parents lied. But her gut, it always spoke truths to her. And she had long since put her faith in what her gut told her. Adjusting her rifle and double checking the dual pistols attached to her hips, she was as ready as she was ever going to be.

"Normally I don't go jumping into men's arms on the first date. Please don't tell the boys stories about me," she said ending her comment with a smile.

There was something about him.

Siobhan winced slightly when she beheld Anija's injuries. Admittedly Siobhan's own ideas of combat training was rather rough since she subscribed to the school of hard knocks and the principle that any bruise in training might mean one less limb lost in combat, but nonetheless. Eyes fell upon the injuries that seemed to be burns from Force lightning. She could see Anija was struggling to find her calm centre. At the same time Siobhan did not want to come across as feeling pity for the Mandalorian or thinking that she was weak, since that was far from the truth.

She reached into her backpack and took out a bottle of water. After looking around a bit in the shuttle she found a glass and poured water in it. That done she handed the glass to Anija. Then she sat down on one of the jump seats. They were not the height of comfort, but they would do. "Ok. Then start at the beginning and tell me what happened. Nothing you tell me will pass to anyone else if you don't want it to, dear." Something told her that the physical scars were not the worst injuries Anija had suffered. Perhaps one could call it an educated guess or intuition. Or maybe it was because Siobhan had dealt plenty of times with mind rape and stuff. Her voice was calm and soft, non-judging. "You were training? Doesn't seem like your standard Mando training."

Gratefully, Anija accepted the glass of water. Well, if a disposable glass could be considered civilized. She took a moment to sip at it as she tried to organize her thoughts. Several seconds of silence floated between them as she did so.

"It did start out as a training match, at first...." she said finally, quietly. "He had asked me there to teach him a few things. At the start, I was taking it easy. He proected a question into my mind, which prompted me to take the gloves off as it were." She sighed and absently ran a hand through her hair.

"I wasn't actively using the force against him, more to enhance my own reaction time. After that though, I started using it offensively. I'm... not entirely sure what happened after that. I remember reliving the memory of what happened, to me during the attack on Keldabe...our felt like our was happening all over again."

She frowned slightly. "I'm not sure I'm making sense of it yet, but it seems like be grabbed onto that memory, and forced, me to relive it. Something happened while we were sparring. Something snapped.... and he started to attack me mentally, and with the force."

"The memory was so strong and vivid when he forced it forward in my mind, that it felt like it was happening all over again." Absently, she rubbed at her neck. "He.... attacked me with lightning... and mentally... and whatever he was, seeing in his own mind.... he somehow right I was, responsible." She shrugged. "I don't know what it was... but whatever happened, he tried to bury,it... and the sparring just woke it up again."

"I tried to resist, but I have never had to defend against such things. When child think coherently, I tried to push him away. Something I said.... he paused, and seemed to snap out of it. The next thing I know, I'm lying in a hospital... and he's there. Not sure if he said anything to the doctors, but he didn't leave. He stayed there with me."
