- Adaptable: The Landslide possesses a profuse and versatile array of weaponry, fully able to engage infantry, vehicle, aircraft, or even orbital targets at most practical ranges.
- Roll Over Em': The Landslide is an enormous, heavy, and profoundly durable chunk of metal. It can simply plow through most barricades, terrain features or enemies in its way, and is unimpeded by most physical obstacles.
- Impregnable: The TLR is armored and shielded to the very teeth, able to withstand enormous firepower without any significant hindrance to its combat capability.
- Snail: The TLR is neither especially fast nor especially maneuverable.
- Large Target: The Landslide is hard to miss, and presents a very large and attention-grabbing target.
- Engine Trouble: The TLR requires enormous power to remain motivated, requiring diligent management of its reactor.
DESCRIPTION
An absolutely enormous armored vehicle, the Landslide more than lives up to its namesake. Sporting omnidirectional weaponry, a four-tracked design, and near-unbreachable starship-grade shielding and armor, the Landslide is more than capable of flattening almost anything in its way.
The Landslide stands some 16 meters tall, with a length of nearly 40 meters and a width of 30 meters. It is a squat, ponderous vehicle, more of a mobile building than anything else. Its Helsteel tracks allow it to crawl up steep inclines, crush smaller vehicles under its bulk, and plow heedlessly through even the thickest forests. Additionally, the Landslide is also amphibious, able to either crawl across the bottom of liquid bodies, or propel itself across the surface. The vehicle is entirely pressure-sealed, preventing its crew from exposure to water, toxic gasses, or vacuum.
Externally, the Landslide bristles with weaponry, with full 360-degree turret coverage and a significant flak array to fend off bombing attempts. Unfortunately, this means it cannot focus the full force of its awesome firepower on any one foe, but it is well suited to standing amidst the thick of the fighting. The vehicle's primary armaments are a quartet of plasma howitzers, strategically placed on rotating platforms above the tracks to allow all four to barrage faraway targets.
Below these are situated fore and aft phosphor-plasma batteries, enabling engagement of heavy vehicles, low-flying strike craft, and massed infantry. The top of the vehicle sports turreted Tarnicite-based point-defense weaponry, a quartet of rotary-barrelled Otherplasma cannons, and a pair of exotic missile pods. Aside from the latter, these systems can be retracted into hatches to prevent damage should the crawler be shelled. These top-mounted systems allow the Landslide significant defense against air or orbital attack, allowing it to serve as a surface-to-air or surface-to-orbit defensive measure.
The top of the vehicle sports a pair of landing pads, nestling snugly amidst its formidable AA batteries. This allows the Landslide to serve as a small staging area for fighters, as well as repair and refuel these craft.
Internally, the Landslide is a capable mobile command center, possessing extensive communication and electronic countermeasure arrays. Near the rear of the vehicle is situated a Cornerstone mobile factory attached to the vehicle's departure bay, allowing the Landslide to produce troops, weapons, fuel, munitions, or even other vehicles. This departure bay is capable of accommodating a large number of passengers, dropping down into an assault ramp when their deployment is called for. The entire vehicle is powered by nearly thirty KBR Plasma Reactors, which are arguably its greatest vulnerability.
A rarity for Helix vehicles, the Landslide is not solely operated by a droid brain, instead ideally being crewed by physical droids and photonic holodroids alike. The crew are situated on a large multi-tiered command deck between the droid's Persuader-esque photoreceptors and chin-mounted phosphor cannon, where they can best observe the battlefield. This seeming vulnerability is in fact the most heavily shielded part of the vehicle, prompting occasional exclamations from the crew as enemy munitions detonate mere meters away from them.
Most interestingly, below the command deck are a complex series of metal jaws, which feed raw matter into the Landslide's factory facilities. These can be extended or retracted at will, allowing the droid to "eat" destroyed tanks or infantry to fuel its internal factory.
The Landslide is almost entirely proof against external harm, but should its reactor be seriously damaged, the result is mostly likely a small thermonuclear explosion, obliterating the vehicle and anyone in a sizeable radius. The vehicle's unstable munitions compound this problem, necessitating careful maintenance by the crew. The Landslide is also not a speed demon under even the best of of circumstances, possessing glacial speed and acceleration.
While the Landslide's Shiftsteel surface coating allows it to hunker down and physically camouflage itself, it would be a particularly unobservant enemy who failed to notice so large a machine. No amount of chameleonic metal or simple creativity can hide this clanking, fume-belching monstrosity, and it can expect to draw heavy hostile attention anywhere it goes.
All in all, the Landslide's greatest strength is it's versatility. It can engage virtually any enemy, at virtually any range in virtually any environment. It can serve ably as command center, assault spearhead, artillery battery, mobile factory, and flak platform. Assuming, of course, that the battle is not already over by the time it gets there...
