Time to Talk (Cypher)

[member="Cypher"]

Most people had to schedule an appointment nearly two months prior to even get on the list to see the Vigo of the Black Suns, and even then they might not be allowed in. Only the most important, luckiest, or interesting usually made it through out of the hundreds of applicants a day. Domino just pulled up his schedule and walked on in when he wasn't meeting with anybody, the doorman even tipped his hat. Being the predecessor and a High Admiral had its perks apparently, besides, you didn't get to be in this building without being someone that understood.

"Cypher." She greeted, giving him a slight nod as she walked across his office. "You doing alright today?"

"Ahh Domino. Yes well, I'm doing as well as my old body lets me be. A lifetime of fighting, traveling and mischief wears on ones self. I think I should be asking you that though. That crash on Sleheyron certainly did a number of numbers on you". Cypher set down and turned off a data pad. He'd just been going over a report of a field trials test of a new Cruiser in the works. Made by her company in fact. Rather a coincidence. "You seem quite well now, but to what do I owe the grace of your presence"?

"I know what you mean, but so long as you bounce back harder..." She said as she took a seat. "And that cruiser is part of the reason I'm here. She's a fighter like few others but she isn't nearly enough these days and you and I both know it. Now every other navy that didn't just grab whatever they could when the Sith fell has varied capital fleets capable of covering a wide range of situations. Now all we have is the Pelleaons and those single kilometer ships. All good, all very capable in their fields, but we're lacking both dedicated command ships and something that'll bring the hurt against those capital fleets."

Pulling a small projector from her pocket, she keyed the hologram active. "I've had my guys working on her as a pet project for awhile now. One thousand nine-hundred meters long, state-of-the-art command carrier. She can ferry in a whole fleet's worth of fighters and still sit pretty behind our own lines as she directs all the Black Sun forces in the entire system ensuring unparalleled teamwork and unit cohesion from the battle group level all the way down to individual fighter squads."

Domino let the image spin lazily around a few times, showing off the sword-like main hull of the craft as well as the protruding main hanger bellow and the dorsal superstructure. "Of course she'll also have first rate combat systems and we're prototyping new anti-intrusion systems on her. Should come together to be quite the package." It was a sales pitch, and a good one, but there seemed to be a 'however...' left hanging in the air when Domino was done, just waiting for @Cypher to pick it up.

"A Command ship. Haven't tried that since the Empire blew up and ruined my own pet project". Cypher set his elbows shoulder side on the desk. His fingers overlapped one another and his eyes curiously looked at the ship design. Nothing odd about it, had that standard sword design that worked very well. Well enough he knew she was here for funding. Cypher pushed back in his chair, limping his body and letting out a great sigh. "What are the cost estimates to build such a ship. And how many do you want to build"?

"Right now it's predicted at a little over two hundred million per ship, bear in mind that the old Imperial two's cost about one-forty five back in their day. And we won't be making nearly as many either, maybe half a dozen to start and then as needed to flush out sector fleets and replace any that are destroyed." Not something a ship manufacturer usually admitted the possibility of, someone managing to destroy their ships. "It'd take a lot to actually manage that of course, especially with a proper wall of battle in support."

"Two hundred million. Pffffffff. And per. Quite a chunk of change". Cypher tapped his fingers over the arm rest. Running cost projections over in his head. His face obscured by his hood but an obvious scowl crossed him. "One point two billion. Additional point three for cost overruns and delays. Not even taking in crewing and other associated costs after delivery, which I'm sure there will be a fee for that as well. All for six ships". Cypher sighed again, and pushed himself up to stand. He was much taller than the Twi'lek, and much larger too.

"You may not have known. Shortly ago I set out alone to the One Sith's territory. I made it my intention to be there for Carida, and witness the Republics naval strength. Opportune that the Protectorate also came to their aid. Though not so for the Sith. There were three command ships there. An MC180 Remembrance-class Battlecruiser, a Justicar-Class Command Carrier, and the Omega's Leviathan-Class Super Star Defender. All incredibly powerful ships. Daella Apparine was also there. The one from Nar Shaddaa that destroyed the planetary shield. I was aboard her command ship. She's turned to the Sith. Point is though, I saw these ships in action and their abilities. It may be worth the investment to construct these ships, so I shall give you the funding. And back you fully in their construction".

"Crewing would come from the Suns, we don't want mixed loyalties." She said as [member="Cypher"] stood. She wasn't bothered by his height or size, she'd spent her whole life outmatched and had gotten used to it. It wasn't even a disadvantage anymore.

After Cypher announced that he would back the command ships, Domino thanked him. "I appreciate it, but it's not enough. Oh I'm not going to try to sell you another ship," she said raising a hand. "I just think that we should stop skirting around the matter. Just over sixty percent of your naval contracts are with Koensayr and I'd like to be recognized as our primary contractor with all the benefits that come with it for the company. You know that I have a vested personal interest in the success of the Suns, let me help us to the best I can."

"I'm never one to skirt issues Domino. If you want something though be blunt and tell me clear as water. I'm not some politician always playing word games where things are muttled in speak". Cypher skirted around his desk to stand face to face. "You want to be my primary ship contractor that's fine with me. Koensayr will build me a navy to rival the powers of this galaxy". Cypher extended his arm. Not for the typical straight elbowed handshake but the forty five bent arm grasp. To seal the deal all she need do is grasp back.

Cypher may have wanted to stand face-to-face with Domino, but she'd sat down in her second post which made it fairly difficult. "Thank you." She said standing to take his hand. "Sometimes I just don't know how to broach certain subjects so I went with blunt. You have any last questions or should I go ahead and give my guys the green light?" It wasn't that she had a problem working with Cypher, far from it, she thought he was a great guy. She just didn't like that she now had to go through someone in a position she'd once held. Grated just a tad when she used to be beyond it.

"None at all. For the time. Get the ball rolling in a timely manner. Otherwise I think we're done here, and I have boring paperwork to do". Cypher smiled and backed off behind his desk. The job was quite the bore when he wasn't out and about warring or twisting a deal to his favor. The downfalls of being head of state and organization.

"One of the things I don't miss about the job." Domino lamented with him as she stood. "We'll begin laying the first frames as soon as we've taken control of one of the local yards capable of supporting such a project. Although I'll start the gathering and flow of needed material today." Giving Cypher a slight nod of respect, she turned and left his office.

Drawing out her comm, she triggered it to call the project's foreman. "Overlord is a go, we have the nest." Cryptic and slightly menacing, but all it meant was that the project was a go and that she'd managed to convince Cypher to sponsor Koensayr with the Sun's. Which was a good thing because if she'd done it with her own signature it'd have been an abuse of her authority. Domino had never trusted comm signals in the Hutta system even when scrambled and with the Republic all over Nar Shadda she trusted them even less.
