Time to pay the Piper (Spencer)

Meric Nadun

Guest
A large crowd loomed before him. Moving through them would slow him down, but so would going around them. Instead, he began wildly throwing invisible spears into the crowd, intent on killing as many of them as he could, especially the ones right in front of him. She was here, somewhere. He'd lost track of her signature, but she was here and he knew it. If she wasn't, he knew where he would go to next. She would not escape this world without him catching her. He wasn't going to let it happen.

Screams tore through the air. More people were dying because Spencer had chosen to run. More people were dying because Spencer had angered Meric and unleashed the pent up beast within him. It didn't have to be this way, but it was.

Spencer knew where he was, she continued to run deeper into the crowd. She had to survive she couldn’t be captured and brought to the republic. Spencer had worked too hard to get this far as much as it hurt her to feel the people dying she needed to survive. As the crowd started to disperse and run, she kept running her goal the hanger on the planet where a small ship was waiting for her. She could take a transport which would keep her hidden better, either way she just had to make it to the hangers.

Doing her best she forced herself to keep running, it was the only thing on her mind right now.

Everyone scattered, but most of them ducked into stores and buildings. A few tried to just run down the street away from him, but only a single figure continued towards the spaceport. It had to be her, but it didn't look or feel like her. Still, Meric was smart enough to know that appearances could be deceiving, and he also knew that she was likely to run to the spaceport so she could escape their world. He lifted his comlink.

"Voss. Mobilize. Seal off the entrance to the spaceport. Nobody in or out. Kill any security forces that try to interfere."

"Right."

The benefits of being a bounty hunter with a bigger ship meant he had a crew. A highly trained crew at that. Voss was his second in command, a Noghri at that. He wouldn't let Meric down. He continued to chase the figure heading towards she spaceport, grabbing anything not bolted down and throwing it at the figure. It had to be her.

Okay he was on to her, cursing she diverted her path from the spaceport and found the crowd again. She needed to remain with them, several people were being escorted into shelters and she quickly melted into a group and quickly changed her illusion in case he caught a glimpse of who she was. They handed out blankets as they entered the shelter and she grabbed the blanket covering herself with it. She blended in with the group and hid in the corner and sent a distress signal to the Imperial fleet near their Mon Cala/Tund/Iego/Gand front.

This is Sanctuary; I’m under direct fire from a bounty hunter on Teth, requesting immediate intervention of the fleet. This is a direct order from the First Apprentice of the Empress.

Her comm would be able to lead the fleet to the right location.

People were fleeing into shelters. On top of that, he'd lost her again. This time he had no way of knowing where she'd gone to. That frustrated and angered him even more. He reached out to the two nearest buildings and shattered their foundations, sending them collapsing downwards and killing hundreds of people inside of them. Let her feel their deaths and realize that they were on her.

"Sir, we just detected an outbound transmission. We can't trace it, but we did decrypt it. She's calling in Imperial forces."

He was getting even angrier now.

"Where is the nearest location they could come from?"

"A few hours away. If you can find her in that time, we could escape."

Meric grabbed the nearest person he could find, a woman, and bit a chunk out of her neck before throwing her, screaming to the side. Rage overwhelmed him. He chewed and swallowed. He couldn't find her. She was using the Force to hide, and masking her signature as well. It would be impossible right now. He needed to get the drop on her sometime. As much as he hated to admit it, she'd escaped. She was lucky, this time. Next time she wouldn't be.

"Pack up, we're leaving. I've no way of finding her now."

Turning away, he walked towards the spaceport. He had one last gift for her. He met Voss and them heading back and climbed into the ship with them. They powered up and he ordered them to lift off and hover over the city. She wanted to run. She was going to suffer over it.

"Fire. Everywhere."

All weapons opened up on the city, blasting everything until he felt sufficiently satisfied. Security forces were inbound now, but he waved for them to leave, so they flew upwards and breached the atmosphere, heading out into space. Before they left, they dropped a recorder buoy, small and with no signature, just to detect any and all hyperspace entries in the sector for future reference. That done, they shot into hyperspace with a very pissed off Meric on board.

BAM! Outta hyperspace comes the Imperial Fleet.

It didn't take long for a transport to be sent down to the planet with two full squads of stormtroopers, elite agents specialising in rescues, to be sent down to the last known location of the First Apprentice. Rhace was already nervous. Why did this chick need saving? She was meant to be better than him at this stuff, but no. Always gotta rely on the stormtrooper. What was it with kids these days and needing to be rescued? (And this damsel in distress wasn't even gonna put out, like damn.)

The transport landed. Stormtroopers poured out. Rhace was last, saber in hand, the gunship engines idling and ready and waiting Spencer to show up so they could go home.

The explosions rocked the shelter but it was a good thing it was well equipped for this sort of thing. She threw down the blanket and made her way out of the shelter. She saw the storm troopers and felt a bit more comfortable with things. She didn’t sense Meric anymore and she felt a bit safer. Looking over she noticed a trooper she recognized and slowly walked up to him. Still she had the illusion on and when she made it to him she smiled.

“Nice to see you again Rhace, though expected a bit more pizazz”

She dropped her force scrambling and allowed Rhace to recognize her a bit. It was the easiest thing once she dropped the illusion giving him full view of her real face.

"Karking hell, did he hit you with the ugly stick when you fought or- oh. Never mind."

Dayum, gurl. Dat face.

So Rhace loaded his squad up, sufficiently safe, then they could extract Spencer and get her back to the loving arms of the Empress who Spencer would end up putting out for. Damnit, Empress, stealing all the sexy times from the rescuing dude. Never fair.

Whatever.

"So who's going to get their ass kicked? I figure this guy has a name."

“Shut up, you look like a piece of Bantha poo.”

Spencer moved towards the ship as she used the force to heal her wounds on her arms and body. Meric had done quite the deal on her. The only thing she wanted to do right now was shower, rest and make a message to Ashin to let her know that she’s okay. Frowning, she looked over at Rhace and shrugged.

“A man named Meric Nadun you know him?”

The man’s face was embedded into her mind and she had a feeling she wouldn’t be sleeping much the next few nights. Keeping things a bit business like she boarded the ship and looked at Rhace who was hopefully following her.

“So they sent you because you were probably being a lazy git and not fighting huh? Fething Bantha Dingle Berry”

"Ha. Whatever, Spencer," Rhace said, shaking his head as he and his team boarded the transport again. Spencer was safely away now and back aboard the fleet ships before she knew it. However, in that meantime, he had to mock her a little bit. It was in their contract or something. He just sat on his ass in the transport like he was meant to because standing was for chumps.

"Hey, they sent me because the Empress values your ass." Literally. "Someone had to come get you from a warzone and that someone happens to be the most combat-capable Sith in the Army. It's just how it is, y'know. Are you all done being hunted and captured? I'd like to get back to subjugating some planets for fun."

One of the troopers offered Spencer his seat and he stood up, like a boss chump. At least someone hand manners on this transport. She finished healing the battle wounds on her arms and figured they were going to scar no matter what she did. Resting her hands in her lap she looked at the trooper and stuck her tongue out.

“For your information, she does value my ass there’s a reason I’m the First Apprentice. Second I wasn’t captured pretty sure he blasted off before me. As for being hunted I doubt that will ever end, but I’m ready for more.”

Looking at the troops, Rhace was right. There was whole mess of them sent out to grab her.

“Pretty sure they do the subjugating you just kind of sit here like a chump”

"They promoted me to Major for a reason," he said, shaking his head. She was a funny one...and a little daft. Not everyone made it all the way to Major for a reason. "Look. Let's just get you back to the Empress, safe and sound, and we can both go our merry way onto whatever the Empire needs us to do next."

It wasn't fun, but his job was done. Getting Spencer Jacobs out of the battlezone was the important task of the day and it was done. Back up on the Conquest, Spencer would be able to relax, contact Ashin as necessary about her antics and take a bath or whatever it was she did to relax. Rhace didn't much know. Or care. She did her thing, he did his and everything worked out in the end.
