However, they are also lacking in any considerable defenses. In dogfights, they will lose almost every time barring some exceptional circumstance. Their speed, maneuverability, and weapons are where the money is.
  • Single Purpose - The Tie Series DX-01 is a single purpose drone fighter, built to provide aid to ground operations wherever they are in need. As such, they are practically useless for sustained engagements in space.

DESCRIPTION
The Tie Series DX-01, also known by the colloquial title 'Tie Harbinger' is a debut model for the fledgling Director of Kuat Entralla, Gaius Sisenna. It is a close air support starfighter, capable of taking the fight directly to enemy infantry on the ground with its impressive arsenal of autocannons, meticulously designed to inflict death on entrenched positions. With an auxiliary array of missile pods stored just below the main compartment, the DX-01 is capable of providing key air support when the need arises. The Trade Federation authorized its production with the expectation that its value would be replicable, that it could be produced en masse and used en masse to swarm and maximize its ground utility. Director Sisenna personally oversaw the construction, emphasizing low production cost in its lack of shielding and simple armament type, but a quality that could be informed merely by the sheer number the Trade Federation could bring to bear.
