STRENGTHS
  • | Layered Defense | The Cuora is to disruptors what ceramic plates are to slugthrowers, offering the wearer effective protection against disruptor class weapons. Each individual plate measures the energy of what it comes into contact with it - It reacts and behaves normally when a typical blaster shot approaches and hits it, functioning as additional armor plating, but when the threshold is exceeded by the energy of an incoming disruptor shot, the armor reacts, absorbing the kinetic energy of the shot itself to mitigate impact to the wearer while simultaneously ejecting the plate away from the wearer at high speeds to prevent the spread of disintegration to the wearer.
  • | Neutralizing Field | While it does not fully neutralize the destructive nature of a disruptor shot, it does produce a field that 'slows' the rate of disintegration to a speed that one can react to so that the wearer isn't disintegrated before they have a chance to blink.
WEAKNESSES
  • | One-Off | The Cuora despite offering some of the best protection against disruptor class weapons, only functions, and acts to halt the destructive nature of one disruptor shot per plate. The affected plate is ejected off the individual that's been shot to prevent the disintegration from spreading to the wearer, discarding the plate and exposing the underlying armor/body it was attached to.
  • | Weight | Despite a single Cuora plating not being remarkably heavy, having over half a dozen can be a bit cumbersome as far as weight goes. This becomes less of an issue as they are spent protecting the wearer, but the additional weight compensates for not being disintegrated.

DESCRIPTION

The DS 'Cuora' Pattern Anti-Disruptor Plating is reactive armor designed to prevent being disintegrated by disruptor class weapons. The Cuora is about the size of a small brick and about a quarter of the weight of one constructed of an alloy that reacts to unstable energy in a matter that 'slows' the disintegration process, if even by only mere seconds. Internal sensors react to incoming energy, being able to distinguish between standard blaster bolts and disruptor bolts. If it detects incoming fire not scanned as a disruptor shot, the Cuora plating will behave like any other piece of armor plating and can take a beating from both slug rounds and blasters. If it detects a disruptor shot coming its way, it immediately begins a process that disengages its magnetic lock and then 'ejects' the plating away from the wearer when the bolt hits. This puts enough distance and space to prevent the disintegration from spreading the wearer and instead taking the plate.
