STRENGTHS
  • Ease of Use: The TIE Fighter has become a fairly common sight in the galaxy, whether it be ancient ships someone's bought for scraps or a newer state of the art model. Regardless, the controls and handling of a classic TIE is something many pilots have experienced either directly or indirectly through the many ships which have since borrowed its simplistic controls. This cultural knowledge of the TIE's workings, and the simple design of its controls, make it an easy ship for novice pilots to pick up and fly.
  • Cheap, Plentiful, Expendable: Perhaps the greatest strength of the classic TIE Fighter is just how cheap they are to produce. They've been gutted of any system or feature deemed unnecessary, making them an incredibly cheap and easy to manufacture vessel; or as some would say 'a coffin'.
WEAKNESSES
  • Shields are Expensive: The TIE fighter lacks any shields, making it incredibly vulnerable.
  • BYOA: The TIE lacks life support meaning potential pilots must 'bring their own air' usually as suit life support. While the TIE can hold supplies for a few days, a stranded TIE is just a very expensive coffin for the pilot to die in.

The TIE Fighter: one of the most iconic ships in the galaxy. Originally designed by the Empire, the ship has been remodeled and redesigned a hundred different times in the following centuries by those looking to produce cheap starfighters, or by those looking to adopt the aesthetics that brought so much fear to the galaxy for those short tyrannical decades. The Imperial Reclamation Authority seeks to do both.

The IRA-TIE Fighter is a reproduction of the most recent iteration of the Galactic Empire's signature craft. While that attempt at conquering the galaxy was short lived, the TIE fighters it manufactured continue on with the Imperial Reclamation Authority. As such it lacks many frills or add ons of some modern TIE fighter designs, relying on the cheap expendable efficiency of the original TIE design so that the Imperial Reclamation Authority can both afford it and maintain the facilities to repair and even manufacture them.

It is ultimately a simple ship with a simple purpose, a call back to old glory days mythologized and demonized alike.
