As their eyes met Kain provided her with that silly crooked grin of his, which contrasted his sharp features. Yet underneath his smile there was a bitter taste in his mouth. This woman, as she spoke he realized she was grounded, calm even. It was like looking at every Jedi he never could be, shaped into a mold he'd never begin to fill.
"That's just it though, right?" His hands came up like he was in a play. "Look upon my dapper coat, and hand-sewn dress. My lovely styled hair." His arms then folded as he slipped out of character. "Clearly it works for some people, others? They might just enjoy the atmosphere."
"Really?" He looked down at the suit and mumbled. "Maybe if this whole rebellion thing fails I can go and wait tables for the Hutt's."
He snapped back into the conversation looking at Vess. Right hand coming free to point towards her dress. "I return the complement miss. I'd say that cream's your color, goes with your hair... considering it's someone else's skin" Kain gave her a lighthearted chuckle as he echoed her metaphor into the humor.

Kain looked back in the direction of his wall companion. "It seems we're of kindred sorts then. I'd planed to spend the night under my ship, good tunes to drown the thoughts away, and a bit too much energy for it being this late." His head tiled up to the top of the hanger, in hind sight, there were hundreds, no thousands of things everyone here could be doing instead of this exact thing. It all seemed inane.
His head fell back to the crowd where he saw

His eyes widened as the reality of it set in. "Whills, I sound like my saber instructor..." The words left him, half horror, half defiance. He never wanted to be like those Jedi who pushed him from the order. His hips rocked up and away from the wall, his hand outstretched to Vess. "Wanna dance?" Now that right there was inane he thought, but something needed to give. Maybe it was the same for her.
He tilted his head towards the dance floor "I warn you, despite my appearance it's been like twenty-something years since I last danced, but I sure as hell didn't fight with this dumb outfit just to come here and be a wall flower. And you're clearly conquering that dress with no trips as far as I've seen. We're here, might as well make the most of the absurdity right?"
