The soft white light of Eshan's afternoon filtered through the narrow windows of the enclave, casting faint golden streaks across the marble floor of Eve's office. She stood before her desk, smoothing her robe down with the palms of her hands for the third time in as many minutes. The gesture was needless, she knew — her robe was already neat, her silver hair carefully tied back — but it gave her something to do while her thoughts aligned.
This was her first public class. Not as a Padawan sitting cross-legged before her Master. Not as a student fumbling to understand. But as Knight and overseer of Snowpeak Sanctuary, responsible for the guidance of others.
Her breath caught once, then steadied. She let it flow out slowly, gathering her resolve like she had so many times before. This, too, was part of her path.
Isari padded softly at her heels, silver eyes watchful and warm. With a final exhale, Eve turned, her stride carrying her down the marbled corridors of the enclave. The stone was pale, almost luminous in its polish, and the silence of the halls was broken only by the soft echo of her boots. She passed pillars and flowing tapestries, the sense of the sanctuary's newness mingling with something much older. Tradition, memory, and the weight of what it meant to build anew on her homeworld. Here, she would carry on the legacy of her home, her training and the Order, even as the rest of the galaxy may continue to fall apart.

The meditation hall awaited her. Its wide expanse of pale stone was touched with natural light, cushions spread in a loose semicircle at the centre. A small gathering had already arrived, Padawans with restless energy, younglings sitting cross-legged but fidgeting, one or two older students standing by the wall with arms folded, waiting.
Eve paused at the threshold, drew one more quiet breath, and then stepped inside. Her voice was soft but sure.
"Thank you for waiting."
She crossed to the front of the hall, her presence settling over the group. Isari slipped to the side and curled near the first row of cushions. Eve cleared her throat lightly and allowed her gaze to pass over each face. Bright, nervous, curious, expectant.
"Today," she began. "We will speak of the Light. Many think of Force Light only as a power to be projected, a shield against the dark, a weapon to strike back. And it can be that. But it is also something deeper. It is the act of reaching into the depths of your own soul, finding what lies within, and accepting it. Only then can we pacify those impressions — those doubts, fears and shadows — that seek to undo the innate light that already lives inside us."
Her tone softened, inviting rather than instructing.
"To begin, we must settle ourselves. Find a comfortable seat, or stand if you prefer, but be still. Connect with your breath. Let it come and go as it will, without forcing it. Allow yourself to find that stillness within. If we cannot be comfortable with this first step, it will be next to impossible to summon the light from within."
Her gaze swept gently across the group.
"You may notice thoughts rising up. Perhaps unsettling feelings. Do not push them away. Do not fear them. Simply observe them, and let them be. They are part of you, part of our shared experience of being alive. It is perfectly okay to feel them."
Eve inclined her head once, her voice a calm ripple.
"Let us begin."
The room gradually hushed, bodies shifting into more restful postures. Breath deepened, stilled. A rustle here, a shuffle there, then quiet.
Eve lowered herself to a cushion at the front, folding her legs and letting her single silver eye fall closed. Her awareness spread outward, not just inward, not just through her breath, but through the hall itself. Each presence brushed against hers: bright threads of Padawans, quieter glimmers of younglings, each aura distinct. She let herself settle among them, not apart but with, quietly observing their stillness with her own.
For now, they would rest together in silence. Soon, the next step would come.
