Intent: Create a pair of sith swords that can be upgraded as Neesa’s abilities grow. The runes will be replaced/added to over time. They're not intended to be significantly more powerful than effects she could reproduce with the Force herself.
Development Thread: The Lion’s Den (Neesa uses freshly forged swords with flashbacks to meeting their creator)
Springing a Leak (a few posts detailing Neesa being struck by a Kethl rune in a trap)
Trials of Fate (Neesa uses her sith swords in a series of trials to test her abilities)
Manufacturer: Lord Tek Sitas
Model: N/A
Affiliation: Neesa
Modularity: More Runes to be added over time to add more abilities
Production: Unique
Material: Alchemised phrik
Classification: Scimitars
Size: One handed
Length: 0.9m
Weight: 1.1kg
Special Features: Sith Sword
Strengths:
  • Lightweight
  • Incredibly sharp cutting edge: curved edge very good at penetrating armour
  • Virtually indestructible: can block a lightsaber, deflect a blaster bolt
  • Able to absorb Force Lightning and deliver it back with a strike
Runes:
  • Barhsall (the blood rune): the blades never require blood to be cleaned off. The rune faintly glows as all blood is absorbed into the blade. This acts as a weak reverse blood trail and enables Neesa to sense anyone cut by the blade when they’re within a few hundred metres. She might get a vague sense if they’re on the same world, but no direction. If several are in the vicinity, Neesa will get a strong sense of one and a weaker sense of a second.
  • Kethl (thunder rune): once every ten minutes Neesa may activate this rune. The next strike with the flat of the blade will emit a powerful sonic strike. This could be fatal if striking an unarmoured head or chest, but the vibrations may cause internal damage through even heavy armour.
  • Isthl: (stability rune): Neesa uses Sith sorcery that involve spoken words and hand gestures. This rune allows her to focus on a spell without hand gestures.
Weaknesses:
  • Lightweight: Need to strike weak points or the head if an enemy has heavy full plate armour made of a restricted material.
  • Only one cutting edge and not optimised for stabbing.
  • Short reach.
  • If casting spells with both hands on swords the stability rune glows and can reveal she is preparing to use sorcery
  • Thunder rune reverberated through hilt and can compromise grip.
Description: When Neesa finished the trials her master set out for her, he gave the orphan stray one final test. On the eve of that event he presented two sith swords he had personally forged for her. Up until this point he had mostly relegated her training to his servants and only met with her when absolutely necessary.

The blades had been alchemically forged and weighted perfectly just for her hands. As soon as she laid her eyes on them she knew they had been created for her. It was shortly after she used them for the first time that he returned to Athiss with Neesa and named her his Shadow Hand and begun to train her personally.

Lord Sitas used his vast knowledge of alchemy and Sith Runes to etch runes into the blade to augment them with additional abilities. The Sith Pureblood explained that over time he would teach her how to do this herself so that the blades could be enhanced as her own powers and abilities grew.

They are almost an extension of herself and a sensitive Force User will sense an innate connection between her and the blades. At all times she’s aware of where they are. She can strike a single hair from a human’s head without leaving a mark.

As is normal for Sith Swords they are virtually indestructible, incredibly sharp, can deflect blaster bolts and can absorb and release lightning. They do not act as a Dark Side nexus or grant her additional focus beyond the calming influence of having their weight in her hands. Whilst they can cut rare and exotic materials they won’t cut through beskar or phrik plates easily. They are not heavy weapons. Instead Neesa is better served using her speed to target weak spots, or swing for the head with the flat of the blade to try and cause discombobulation.

The description mentions that it only has one rune currently, the special features mention two. Can you update the description to reflect the second runes' addition or maybe you added it to the special features by mistake?

That works.

Is there an upper-limit on how many runes you can add to the swords? There isn't much to work with in terms of canon, but I think it would be reasonable to assume that too many runes would start to interfere with each other, as Sith Magic has always been volatile.

Does the Kethl rune bring any complications for the wielder? Like, does the sonic strike also effect the holder of the blade or is it localized towards the target alone.

This is more a suggestion for your ease than integral to the submission, but it might be a good idea to separate the runes in active/passive portions. Because some of these runes work consistently, while the Kethl rune has to be activated to function.

I have no real intention of a specific number of max runes. Just to keep it balanced relative to Neesa's own abilities over time. Runes will be added as modifications not as separate submissions
