There can be only one! (Tund)

Sasha Santhe

Sasha flew her ship over the desolate wasteland that was Tund. During the time of the galactic empire the planet had been eradiated by an electromagnetic torpedo in an attempt to destroy the Sorcerers who lived on the planet. Only small pockets, protected by force fields, still existed in its previously lush form. Even with Sirella's green thumb it would take a hundred years and more manpower than was worth it to turn the planet back into lush world it once was. Sasha's gunship flew over one such dwelling flanked by two sentinel droids. Toongs had moved in, and humans too. These colonists were looking to exploit the shielded bubbles to strip mine the world. However something more sinister however was lurking on the surface of this planet. Sorcerers of Tund.

Sasha had read the reports. These men were driven mad by power and isolation and possessed queer powers within the force. They were already growing in power manipulating the locals and building up their cult. This wasn't the worse of it though, as they were currently little thread. No what was worse, unforgivable, was that they claimed they were true Sith. Sasha's gunship landed outside the bubble where the locals had claimed one of these vagabonds lived. "There can be only one true Sith," she said stepping off the gunship and walking through the shield bubble with her escort of droids. "We are the true sith." She raised her hand and pointed at the dwelling. The droids obeyed her mental command and opened fire on it. Blaster marks pelted the home poking holes in the walls. It wouldn't be enough, but it didn't matter reinforcements are on the way.

The blaster fire stopped and Sasha felt the surge of force within the dwelling, it's darkness drawing in ambient power like a black hole did light. "Now things get interesting," she commented as an elderly man jumped from the home, lightning powered up in his hands...

Crimson lightning gathered around Velok's hands in response. He met the Sorcerer's eyes and held them, as their respective electricities gathered voltage. Free current came up from the ground, the energy flowing around and through Velok's body -- the corruption of the Dark Side. To an extent, it was the energy of the Dark Side made manifest; by other measures, like machines empowered and bones calcified, it was electricity. And so he kept the current away from Sasha's droids, because her time would come, but not today.

His lightning met the sorcerer's arcs, and Velok whuffled in surprise, his eyes going wide. "Someone blast this fool," he coughed.

Major Tarrin was very intent on earning a promotion. So it was he and First Squad on the ground today, the entirety of First Battalion sitting pretty up on the Conquest, high in orbit. They had air support as necessary, but this was going to be the operation of the smallest Sith strike team in history. They had power. They had prestige. He was rocking the Inquisitor armour as befitted a Sith.

When the word came down, a savage battery of blaster fire cut down the foolish old man, thinking himself powerful enough to take on the Sith strike team. He fell to the ground, full of more holes than that one kind of space cheese.

"Disgusting," he spat. "Give me a real target. Something big and ugly."

Sasha narrowed her eyes as Rhace talked. The fool, she almost said aloud but suppressed the urge. When you asked for something, the universe often provided it. The ground rumbled under their feet and the the doors to the house burst open. Something came out, something monstrous. "Damn.," Sasha said. The sorcerer still had some tricks up his sleeve even in death. The foolish old blighter. It was, by appearance a Rancor, but it had been twisted with dark powers. Sasha could feel the all consuming aura of the darkside emanating off of it. "We can not let it destroy the information in that house, clues to the whereabouts of the rest of the sorcerers!" Sasha yelled taking charge. Velok of course was technically in charge, but it didn't matter. She was superior. Reaching out her hands she took direct command of the droids. She manipulated her fingers like a puppeteer causing the two of her mechanical units to break into a run flanking either side of the large creature and raking it with blaster fire. The creature moaned it's unnatural hardened armored flesh taking the blows with surprising durability, "Go for the legs while I distract it." she commanded the rest of her droids to join in the attack.

Droids. Battle droids, no less. A perfect distraction. With blaster in one hand, Rhace pulled out his lightsaber, golden blade springing to life as the rallying cry for the soldiers of the Wolfpack to begin shooting away at its head. It wasn't effective, but it was a distraction. Stormtroopers were good at that, after all.

Rhace, conversely, was a fighter. A connoisseur of battlefield chaos. Springing forward with all the alacrity of a hunting kath hound, he dahsed towards the legs of the giant, grin hidden underneath the helmet of his very luxurious armour - and slashed away at the legs, trying to turn the ankles of the beast into chopped rancor meat. It had to come down. It had to die. But this thing was tough. Very tough.

It'd take more than his saber - and he wasn't trained for that..

Spencer looked down and nodded, she had grown up with the creatures back on Dathomir. The memory of the planet made her sick to her stomach. Pulling off her cloak she tossed it out of the gunship and looked over towards Sasha. A smug little grin spread across her face as she wiggled her fingers and turned her back on the opening of the ship. Rocking backwards, she called out to the woman who seemed to dislike to get her own hands dirty.

"As much as I love riding your gunship, I think its time for me to up close and personal with your new boy toy, Toodles"

The dark Jedi pushed allowed herself to fall flipping in mid air and using the force to stabilize herself. The Rancor was a large target and she wouldn't miss by much. The rather neglected lightsaber ignited as she went to land and drive the blade into the pea size brain of the creature. Shooting a quick telepathic message to Sasha she enjoyed poking fun at the girl.

And I wasn't talking about the trooper!

Spencer's influence bore down on the sorcerer, and Velok's lightning overpowered that of his enemy.

The Whiphid whuffled.

Velok stood over the sorcerer's smoking body, tendrils of electricity still playing over the man's face. Muscles twitched and spasmed, even after death. With a roar, he knelt and ripped off a chunk of delicious, well-cooked flesh. Chewing, he circumvented the creatures and entered the hut.

"Interesting book...I think I will read this thing."

Sasha raged internally at Spencers comment. Power eminated from her in a palpable form. She manipulated the two droids with her hands the puppets moving with speed unrivaled by the others, their joints now infused with the dark side. The two droids gripped onto the Rancors legs, as the others started to pile on shooting it's under belly and holding it steady it. "Finish it." Sasha said holding onto it with all her force augmented mechanical might.

His legs carried him up. He had every intention of jumping up and murdering the hell out of this rancor by eviscerating it from below. It didn't matter what happened after that, only that it died a horrific and painful death by lightsaber. He jumped up, right on top of the beast after vaulting from its arm onto its back, right on top of its head - then stabbed it through the skull, saber blade driving through its tiny brain. The beast fell, collapsing to the ground below as it gave one final roar of anguish.

One dead rancor.

Rhace jumped down off the beast and dusted his hands off, shouldering his blaster and returning his lightsaber to his belt. "Bet you a line trooper couldn't do that."

Spencer used the beast to land and she deactivated her lightsaber. Thoroughly impressed she returned her saber to her belt as well. Stretching a bit she looked up at Sasha and waved.

"Smooth moves there Trooper."

Flipping through his book, and nodding to himself, Velok exited the hut. "Well, I found what I came for," he said, stowing the book under his arm. With one claw, he picked a bit of Sorcerer of Rhand from between his tusks. "Also, I have no intention of cooking that rancor. Good kill, Major Tarrin."

He ignored Sasha, because of a little incident involving a deliberate violation of his brain.

"According to this diary, there's a missile battery nearby, hidden in some of those barren hills. Simple enough to keep the local population in line when you have sorcery and missiles."

Sasha frowned at the little blond girl and then walked to Rhace. "You do good for a plebeian." It was meant as a compliment even if it didn't sound as such. "Did you learn such things in the army? I suspect not, you're something special aren't you?" Her eyes pierced his and then her gaze fell to the ruined house. "These wizards have a coven somewhere. We need to find out where and crush them beneath the jack boots of the sith."

The girl walked over the Whiphid and ran a hand across his chest and gave him a wink, her offer from when she invaded his memories coming to mind. "The offer still stands," she said.

"I learned most of what I know from my Master," Rhace said, jerking his thumb in Velok's general direction. "If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be jumping up and murdering rancors like it was breakfast. Good work."

He rolled his eyes at Sasha, though. "Stop flirting and let's get back to the task at hand. The longer we stay here, the chances of them mounting an effective resistance increases. I vote we saddle up and go drop a couple missiles on some unsuspecting geriatrics who think they can throw lightning around better than we can."

"She can't help herself, its a flaw of her's poor thing"

Spencer looked towards Velok and listened to what the old Whiphid had to say. She valued his word a bit more than Sasha's at the moment. Arms crossed she remembered her battle meditation, it searched for a source through the force to connect too.

"Well they're all force users right? Pretty sure I might be able to sniff them out"

Velok's old hand snapped up, unnaturally fast as only a Master could do, and snagged Sasha's wrist. He removed the girl from his immediate vicinity by holding her at arm's length, her toes just barely touching the ground.

"Your games are offensive, child. You have no purpose and no brain."

Sasha frowned at the Whiphid. "We take the missile battery out. We calm the locals. The Sorcerers then are drawn out. In order to reassert there position they have to engage us, and that is what we want." Narrowing her eyes she stared the creature in the eyes. Already her droids were moving into positions around the, If clones and droids could eliminate the Jedi order they could obliterate this one Whiphid should anything happen to her. "But they won't fall for such an obviously ploy, not if they are smart. And let's face it to subjugate a world without armies you have to have some measure of intelligence."

Velok let go of her wrist...and all the nearest droids around them rose into the air, turning to face away from them.

"Power is power," he said enigmatically. "Very well. Let's hit the missiles."

He let the droids descend unharmed and stalked away toward the hills.

Spencer shrugged as she watched Sasha and everyone talk. Maybe she would be of some use later on in this battle. Either way she decided right now her best place was to watch and wait for her cue. Looking towards the Whiphid, she wondered what that little display was all about.

When the lovers were having their spat, Rhace chose to ignore them very pointedly. Why couldn't they just, y'know, work together, murder everything and get this over and done with? Or was he going to have to call for backup? It seemed so trivially pointless to him that it was bordering on stupid.

"So. Missile batteries. I wasn't briefed on these. Do we have more intel?"

Velok called back over his shoulder. "No need for a briefing, Major -- let's just kill things."

He noted their consternation. Stopping, he held up the diary. "According to this, there are a couple of big Arakyd missile launchers in a cave just over there, guarded by all manner of local weaponry but not too many people. Traps. That's all I can tell unless you want to sit down with me and read everything in here while they regroup."
