The Unlikeliest of Allies

Maiev couldn't help but look back at Myn as the two continued to trek on. It was a change from the insults and sass that had been traded between them back in the cell, and it seemed the witch had managed to surprise her. She supposed the Sith still carried the presumption that she was a Jedi.

The witch had a distinct dislike for the various Jedi Orders. From their tendency to be too docile and inactive, to going to the next extreme and falling into hypocrisy. Then again Maiev held similar thoughts to the Sith too, although for different reasons.

And she was admittedly bias with her more balanced stance, and the fact she was host to a spirit that had existed during a time before either of those orders had existed.

"Oh, I bet you were very occupied." She grinned back at Myn, a small chuckle leaving her lips. Listening to Myn as she continued her story, because once again, it was a nice change of pace from the usual spite thrown at one another.

"I agree, something tells me he isn't going to let us have too much of a breather before springing something else on us." Maiev had nodded, taking the lead still as they moved forwards more cautiously. They walked down another hallway, taking a moment to assess either direction before heading down one.

Then something clicked, literally.

Maiev looked down to see the large floor tile they had stepped on had suddenly shifted down, almost as though it had indented into the ground. Then it clicked down again, and again. A soft hiss echoed out, almost like an airlock was being unsealed.

Seconds later it began to grow increasingly hot, and the faint sound of something bubbling below...

There was only a moment to spare a glance towards Myn, before Maiev pushed them both forwards into a run. The flooring behind them began to fall away beneath them as they passed over, running down hallways, turning around corners. Not matter which direction they went it followed.

Until they ended up running straight into a dead end.

Occupied was however never allowed to turn into ‘predisposed’ or even ‘at a disadvantage to talk.’ The master of her companion had swiftly swept into the detainment cell and grabbed the other apprentice off the ground with a stern and forceful tug at his collar. Regardless, the lack of spite between the two women was something that struck Myn as somewhat more pleasant as well. It made for easier cooperation. That was all. Obviously. Not at all because some small part of Myn found the woman enticing or otherwise… Well, she didn’t want to spell it out for the other woman to hear. There were worse company and sights.

The floor clicked, they ran, and a dead end came up. No Siree, it did not look good. One foot thrust into the wall with a powerful stomping kick. Weak duracrete. Cheap construction work. Myn continued to kick until a small ledge, small enough for the tip of her boot to fit was there. Her boot found a grip, and Myn threw herself up on the walls of the maze, extending her hand for Maiev to grab.

“Come on!” She exclaimed, almost sounding somewhat worried.

It was her hope Maiev would accept it, and Myn would drag until they both fell over to the other side of the wall. They would escape one trap, but… Well, They were in another corner now. Straight ahead was a way to go, as was to their left.

Well now. This was interesting.

“Chit.” Myn would heave to let her nerves still. “That was close.”

The witch's mind was running a mile a minute, almost matching the speed in which she and Myn had been running. Once they had hit the dead end, Maiev had whirled around trying to figure out how they were going to get out of this.

Climbing was a maybe, but the walls were too high and neither of the two were capable of simply jumping up. That and there was a forcefield up there, with perhaps a small enough gap between the two to allow someone to slip through.

Then something clicked, just as a another floor panel clicked and fell down further along the hallway.

It was steadily catching up to them, reaching around the corner they had turned down to reach the dead end.

Maiev reached out with the Force, grasping a hold of the next panel that would fall - and didn't allow it too. There was a terrible grinding sound as the mechanisms tried to continue, but were being forced into a stop. After all that's all it was, a mechanical system, it went through each panel one by one, never just skipping one to try and catch up.

So if one were to suddenly get 'stuck', it would at least provide them enough time to find a way out.

Behind her, the witch could hear the sound of something striking the wall. Given Myn was the only one there, Maiev figured the younger woman was making an escape plan instead. It wasn't until she heard the Sith calling for her, that the witch finally loosened her control and grabbed her hand.

They both fell into an unceremonious heap, Maiev rolling over to Myn's side as they tried to catch their breath.

"Too karking close." Maiev groaned, shifting her body up so she was leaning against the wall. After finally taking the breather, the witch stood up and began to assess their new options.

She was immediately drawn to the crackling of electricity. Ahead of them were more shock fields, this time they stretched across the entirety of the hallway. Maiev imagined their previous method of getting past one of them wouldn't quite cut it this time. To their left was seemingly nothing of note other than a single control panel down the other end, that was until the duo took a step in that direction.

Both walls; roughly three quarters of their length slid up revealing a series of piston-like mechanisms behind it. Each one of them shifted out, with a steady hum echoing down the hallway, indicating something was charging up. Then in the blink of an eye, a single red laser shot out from each one of the pistons forming a seemingly random web pattern.

"Well chit..." Neither option was particularly enticing to Maiev at least. Although, as her eyes remained on the lasers an idea came to mind. "Tell me, how flexible are you?" She looked at Myn as if it were any ordinary question being asked. "Because If not, I think I might be able to navigate the lasers."
