Strengths & Weaknesses

[+] Two Minds, Better Than One - Being the vessel for a spirit has the benefit of there being a second mind present to gleam knowledge from. This has in the past helped Maiev in understanding languages, artifacts and even providing insight on situations unfamiliar to her.
[+] Patience, My Old Friend - If there’s one thing that Maiev has learned over the years, is that rushing into anything is never the way to go about it. Though that does not mean she is completely against spontaneity should the situation require it.
[+] Spiritual Constitution - Maiev was raised to be a vessel, and as such her body both physically and mentally have been groomed to not buckle under the pressure. As a result Maiev has developed an innate ability to separate herself from both extremes of the Force.

[+/-] It’s Not All Good - Being possessed has its benefits, but it also has the potential to be Maiev’s downfall. She has undertaking years of training to strengthen her resolve, to bond with the spirit. But it also means the two are completely connected together, so should the spirit ever be torn away, Maiev would suffer greatly, likely die as a result.
[+/-] A Master Of None - As a hybrid of two races with distinctive traits, Maiev is certainly not a prime example of either. For example, while she is a lot more flexible and agile than a normal human, it is nowhere close to a pure blooded Vahla, as she does not possess their typical bone structure.

[-] Agility, Not Strength - Maiev is no powerhouse when it comes to physical fighting, she will always defer to her agility over brute force. And while it can certainly win her some battles, it can’t win all of them.
[-] All Work, Little Time For Fun - It doesn’t take someone long to realize that Maiev takes her work very seriously, and rarely ever allows her hobbies to be anything but relevant to it. It’ll be a rare sight indeed, if she ever did take a day to simply enjoy things, and not be working on something.
[-] Two Minds, One Headache - No matter how much training or meditation she can go through, Maiev’s head is still occupied by another’s mind. This means that she’s much easier susceptible to headaches and such. In turn it requires a great deal of balance when using her powers, otherwise she is at risk of ‘overloading’ her mind.

Biography
There had once been a tribe on Dathomir that had mostly isolated themselves from the others, preferring to remain independent and were only ever friendly with a few of the neighbouring villages. This had been where Maiev’s mother had been born into, and later ostracized from. One day a man, a Vahla traveller had arrived on the planet to explore, on the path that many of his kind had been on - to find a place to call home. Unfortunately he had landed near the village and inevitably visited it. He was immediately beset upon and was denied entry. But Maiev’s mother did not agree, she was one of the rare few amongst her tribe that wished to connect with her people, even outsiders. So snuck out one night, met up with the Vahla man at this ship, and offered to guide him around Dathomir. He accepted the offer.

When they returned months later, everything was flipped upside down. The pair had fallen in love during that time, and had unknowingly sired a child that was quickly sussed out by the tribe’s elders. They showed no mercy and immediately made her mother an outcast and chased her father all the way back to his ship. The two never saw one another again.

Her mother had no option but to flee into the surrounding wilds, her own people refused to provide anything leaving her to survive on her own wits. It had been a struggle, but somehow she had managed to persevere. Completely unaware something had been guiding her, helping her along the way.

Unfortunately, she would never get a real chance to be with her daughter. As the night she gave birth, there had only been enough time to take the little girl into her arms, before death came for her. Silence fell, only disturbed by the sounds of a crying baby still being clutched in the arms of her dead mother. Hidden from the naked eye, a spirit hung over the pair, watching with satisfaction that its plan had succeeded. It looked down upon the newborn babe, and for the briefest moment she seemed to see the the looming figure. An impossible feat, surely. But the spirit simply grinned.

By the time dawn had risen, the village were awoken to a baby's cries just outside their gates. It wasn’t exactly difficult to figure out whose child it was, and the fact she wasn’t present. A vast majority of the village didn’t want anything to be done with the baby, but they soon realized that curled by the baby’s side was a snake, pure white and a sight that hadn’t been seen on Dathomir for generations. It was a sign, the fact the creature was there and the baby had mysterious found her way to them, indicated she was meant to be cared for, groomed to be the reincarnation of one of their deities. Maiev.

But unbeknownst to the tribe, was the spirit that now inhabited the child was the furthest thing from their precious gods. It remained silent and waited, it’s influence now as miniscule as the being it now resided in.

Maiev was raised with the utmost care, as spoiled as someone could be in an archaic village. She was outright worshipped by those who had basically pushed her mother towards her death. For the first couple years the whole situation went over her head, only beginning to understand what was happening along the same time she was learning about everything else. However, even before she could speak, or walk, there was a small voice. A woman who spoke to her in her dreams every night.

It was around Maiev’s seventh birthday that the spirit had finally made proper contact with its host. The conversation had been surprisingly natural, given the fact Maiev was talking to what she had always thought was her own imagination. But, it became apparent just what was speaking with, coupled with the fact the village had basically being worshipping the ground she walked. The spirit though made it perfectly clear that it was not anything the villagers believed. And at one point Maiev had asked whether they were her mother, in which the spirit had been silent, contemplating what to tell the child.

“I am not any of their precious deities, nor am I the mother who abandoned you Maiev. I am Kalax-Ra.”

A year later, Maiev had made the decision - following the advise from Kalax-Ra, to leave the village and life out in the wilds. For ages now, she had grown tired of how the tribe was treating her, Maiev had never enjoyed it and Kalax-Ra had made particular care in ensuring she didn’t grow up arrogant and haughty. Her departure from the village had the desired effect, at least to the spirit’s aims anyway. Paranoia was quick to set in, conspiracies were thrown around between families, believing one or the other had done something to their precious reincarnation. Ultimately they ended up looking outwards, pointing accusations at the other villages. Of which, it then came as no surprise when the homes were razed to the ground.

Maiev on the other hand, was content to remain in the Wilds for the next ten years. During this time she learned how to survive, how to appreciate nature and its creations. Kalax-Ra had made early progress in teaching her how to use the Force, making it a paramount point to teach the young crossbreed the lesson of balance. To not necessarily ignore what the Jedi and Sith had done with it, but to learn from their mistakes, their blundering around with limited potential. Amongst those times, Maiev also underwent a series of trials to test her at certain milestones. One in particularly had been a harsh lesson, that ended in Maiev killing the white snake that had been a constant companion since she could remember.

Eventually she departed from the Wilds and began to explore the rest of the planet. Taking time to stop at every village possible to learn. Whether it was physical training, or learning of the mystical arts. She did not hesitate as she was guided by Kalax-Ra

In the wake of her eighteenth birthday Maiev had left Dathomir entirely, deciding it was time to finally explore the galaxy as a whole. And that she did, over the course of the next twenty-one years she travelled everywhere she could, opening her eyes to what exactly was going on across the galaxy. She had made it a point to avoid the open conflicts, and instead watching how both sides acted. Learning just what exactly the Jedi and Sith were capable of. Maiev had also developed an interest in Herbology and Alchemy, even though her first experience with the latter had been with a twisted machination of a Sith. It had made her sick to see such a thing be done to nature, and as such she made it her mission to try and counteract it wherever she could, diving fully into art of Alchemy as a profession.

Her studies of the Force didn’t lessen either. While still following Kalax-Ra’s lessons, Maiev experienced, studied and learned how both Jedi and Sith used the Force. Light, Dark, it didn’t matter to Maiev. It was still the Force no matter what label was given. Her bond with Kalax-Ra had ensured that she never fell to far into either extreme, whether it was into the inescapable pit of the Dark Side or the suffocating shackles of the Light Side. Aside from that, Maiev had on occasion found a few Rogue Master’s who had willingly took her on to learn how to wield a lightsaber. Albeit to this day, Maiev still preferred more physical blades as a means to fight.

As of late however, Maiev had finally found a nice little place to settle her things. Somewhere she could keep her alchemy creations, and as a home to come back to. Although, as she watched the galaxy shift under the tide of new factions and wars. She couldn’t shake the feeling this one would end up being temporary.
