"Service through Dedication, Dedication through Sacrifice"

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To actually have a submission for the United Thraedar Navy as I realized far too late this would be useful in subs related to them.
  • Canon: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: The Thraeda
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Organization Name: The United Thaedar Navy, U.T.N.
  • Classification: Temporary Colonial Military Government
  • Affiliation: Itself.
  • Organization Symbol: The Star of Aed'a is the iconic symbol of the United Thraedar Navy both within this galaxy and the galaxy they originated from. In Thraedar culture, every star is assigned a symbol of roughly similar shape to act as an identifying mark for its system. This star signified the Aed'a system, the Thraedar home system named after their homeworld.
  • Description: The United Thraedar Navy is the Thraedar governing body within this galaxy and an independent branch of the significantly larger Thraedar Interstellar Corp. that ran the entirety of their home nation's military back in their galaxy.
GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: The U.T.N. is hosted on the Colonial Fleet, a small flotilla of large civilian ships hosting millions of Thraeda in cryosleep. This fleet is positioned just outside the southern rim of the galaxy, waiting for the discovery of uninhabited worlds that would make good colonies to begin their expansion.
  • Domain: None as of now
  • Notable Assets: Access to Gravitic Shield Generators and Expeditionary Jump Gates
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy:

The U.T.N. is ruled over by a council of captains, from which an admiral can be chosen via a popular vote from high enough ranked officers. This admiral is entrusted with many ceremonial roles such as calling issues to the council, the dignitary who hands out promotions and commendations, and the calling and dismissing of council sessions. The only real modicum of power is the ability to call for a veto vote of any decision made by the council or any lower governmental bodies. This vote must be approved of by 2/3rds of the Captain's Council to actually come into effect, however. Other than these roles and the power to call a veto vote, the admiral is as equal on the Captain's Council as its other members and acts as a ceremonial head of state and figurehead to the people.

Each captain rules over his own ship as a kind of military governor who organizes the population, economy, and industry to conform with the Captain's Council's plan for the flotilla's future. There is no private industry within the flotilla, instead, different branches of the economy and industry are divided into governmental departments that are directly guided by the captain. Labor is mandatory for the civilian population, resources are well controlled, and quotas must be met.

Below the captains are the Bridge Officers of various ranks. These officers carry out the captain's will and oversee the different economic and industrial sectors directly. These positions are assigned by the captain, who usually ends up relying on their expertise and specialties in deciding the direction of the ship's sectors. This means that although the position of Bridge Officer is a military title, many civilians have wound up being adopted as 'Community Officers' which are Bridge Officers in everything but name and military rank.

  • Membership: There are roughly 300,000 active members of the U.T.N. both military and civilian, yet those in cryosleep number in the tens of millions awaiting the first colonies to be founded.
  • Climate: The U.T.N. can be best described through its dedication to professionalism, valor, and sacrifice. The authoritarianism that dominates most of its dealings with the outside world and its own internal workings is the result of a journey so incredibly vast its hard to quantify, every resource (including living beings) needed to be managed perfectly to prevent overwhelming the life support systems or running out of fuel, food, or other important resources. This authoritarianism is further emphasized due to the lack of any kind of division between the military and the state, with 'civilians' being conscripted auxiliaries who were raised and educated by the military. The U.T.N. expects the most out of these men or women, expecting the sacrifice of their very lives to continue the mission, and with a booming propaganda sector that is dedicated to keeping the crew in order, many are willing to meet that expectation. The members of the U.T.N. are afforded many freedoms outside of their official duties, the U.T.N. cares little for their private lives and only intrudes when it is believed to pose a direct threat to the mission such as the manufacturing of illegal goods.
  • Reputation: The U.T.N. tries very hard to keep itself secretive, it's operatives and scout groups in the galaxy usually posing as human mercenaries, bounty hunters, or assassins. What few do know about them view them as paranoid and brutal, willing to kill to stop the spread of information about the U.T.N.
  • Curios: The U.T.N. has a list of technology and trinkets they brought over with them from their home galaxy. This list is constantly being updated but all of them should be tagged with the u.t.n. tag to make them easy to find.
  • Rules: The U.T.N. follows a strict military code of obeying the hierarchy and following out orders regardless of the consequences.
  • Goals: The U.T.N. was established for the largest mission ever taken by the Thraeda species, the traveling to and colonization of a different galaxy. The U.T.N. has no grand ambitions of taking over the galaxy or even becoming a sizable player, rather they seek to find a few uncolonized worlds to take for themselves so that the Thraeda species will survive even if something horrific happens back in their home galaxy. At this moment they are currently in their scouting phase, sending out small teams to explore the galaxy to find a cluster of uninhabited worlds away from the large factions. After this, the whole fleet will descend on these worlds and begin the long process of colonization.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The United Thraedar Navy, at first nothing but a dream in the eyes of a young politician named Aedian Blaenk. You see, his father was an archeologist, biologist, and anthropologist who had come to a crazy conclusion. The Thraeda, and a few other select species on their homeworld, were not really from their homeworld. In fact, their biology matched nothing on any database, not even alien databases that had been stolen or bartered for. This simple fact combined with many early mythologies depicting the Thraeda having been brought here by mythological beings or escaping to a better place had utterly convinced his father that the Thraeda must be from outside this galaxy. Aedian would take this message to heart, but as it was considered a crackpot theory he rarely brought it up, especially when he began his career in politics.

Yet, the Thraeda would one day receive a message from a distant galaxy. It had taken thousands of years to reach them, and it was heavily distorted. Yet when it was repaired enough to be turned into a visual format it would shock all who watched it. Beings who looked remarkably similar to the Thraeda, in another galaxy no less! Soon Aedian's father's theory was no longer so 'crack pot' and he instantly began to petition the government and attempt to build support to send something to the galaxy, at the very least a probe. These beings, calling themselves 'humans' dominated Thraeda pop culture and Aedian used this to help get the population to join his petitioning.

Now, behind the scenes, things were not going well for the Thraedar Interstellar Union, which is the governing body of a large section of space in the Beratna galaxy. Things had been tense for well over a hundred years between the Thraeda and another dominant player known as 'The Overgrowth'. It had never been brought to full-scale conflict, but countless proxy wars, assassinations, border skirmishes, and other unsavory things had caused the two to begin building support and seeking allies. The Thraedar Interstaller Union believed they could eventually win the war... but knew if they lost, The Overgrowth would wipe out every single Thraeda across every planet to show their newfound dominance of their galaxy, so a plan was hatched. Piggy backing off of the public support brought about by Aedian Blaenk, the Union would build a small fleet of colony ships that would make the journey to this new galaxy. The best and the brightest would be chosen. Businessmen, scientists, high ranking military personnel, all of these were the first to board and to bring with them trusted people who would help keep the ships running. The mission was simple, set up colonies in this other galaxy and try to discover if the Thraeda had originated here. Yet those at the top of the hierarchy knew that they could very well end up being the last of all Thraeda anywhere in the universe.

And so, their Great Trek began.
