Backstory
Over 850 years ago the galaxy was rocked by the most devastating war it had yet encountered; the Clone Wars. The Galactic Republic, combined with the Jedi Order fought the Confederacy of Independent Systems, killing untold millions and putting the galaxy on the path to Empire.

Few know the truth of how those wars ended, but suddenly it was over. Droids and ships all over the galaxy suddenly stopped working, deactivated. For many years afterwards, even into the New Republic, stashes of deactivated droids continued to pose a threat to those off the beaten path, but eventually the battle droids were destroyed.

Almost all of them anyway.

In a remote system on the far edge of space, the CIS leadership had established a bastion, the Terminus Facility. Here they prepared for a last stand against the oncoming Republic after the death of Count Dooku above Coruscant. However, the facility was never used, and since the Separatist leadership was all liquidated soon after at Mustafar, word of it never leaked out.

The Terminus Facility was designed to be independent, to be hidden, to be secret. It was designed to last.
So when the rest of the Separatist forces deactivated, this facility continued, and followed its standing orders; prepare, defend, hide.
The system, known simply as SX192, was rich in mineral ores which enabled the droids to replace those which decayed, to build more and more ships, droids and weapons, preparing for an attack which never came. Droids do not age or get distracted, those which wore out were recycled and replaced, and soon the planet was defended by a vast host.
And so the facility passed through the Golden Age, the Gulag Virus, the Dark Age and all the other great events. Unknown to all, a great and dangerous treasure waited on the edge of space.

That’s where Rayce Garron came in.

A former Omega Pyre contractor, Rayce had left the Protectorate following the Rapture when his home of Corellia had been destroyed. Now independent, Rayce went freelance with his son Dade, running supplies or contraband. During a struggle with pirates though he was forced to make an emergency jump, ending up in a system far off the space lanes.

As Rayce repaired his ship he started to get unsettling reports. There was something nearby. When he took a closer look he found that a vast fleet was assembled there. Chased by vulture droids and fighters, he escaped by the skin of his teeth.

News of this encounter led to several factions sending probes to the system. None returned intact, but all sent back reports of vast, ancient clone forces. A potential treasure trove to plunder.

Alliances gathered, plans put in place, and Terminus would not remain un-harassed for long!

General Notes:
  • If you are participating in the space or ground battle please PM me your force selections, complete with links to the submissions in the factory or codex.
  • The event will begin on the 3rd of May and run as long as it needs to.
  • I am being assisted by [member="Chiasa Kritivaas"] in the PVP battle and [member="Darth Kentarch"] in the ground battle. They are the game masters, they will summarise events, control the NPCs and generally wreak havoc.
  • It’s never too late to sign up! New arrivals even after the event starts are allowed.

Summary:
Your fleet, with that of your allies, has arrived to plunder the shipyards around SX192, only to find not only is there a vast droid fleet, but your enemies as well! Destroy enemy ships, control or destroy the shipyards, and gain control of the treasures within!

Objectives:
  • (Main) Destroy enemy ships, both NPC and rival factions.
  • (Main) Control or destroy the main shipyards.
  • (Side) Exit the battlefield on the opposite side to where you came in.

Rules:
  • Each writer may bring 5000 metres worth of ships. These ships may only be from approved factory submissions within their own faction or open market available.
  • The NPC droid fleet will have half the total number of metres of all writers.
  • Ship availability limits the amount of ships which may be taken. This applies per ship class.
    Unique/Semi-Unique: 1 per faction per submission.
  • Limited: 1 per writer per submission.
  • Minor: 3 per writer per submission.
  • Mass: Any number.

[*]Battle Meditation may only be used once every 3rd post.
[*]Ships may move an amount of hexes equal to: 11-(speed/2) on the new system or: 11-(speed) on the old system. All rounded up. So a ship with speed 12 on the new system may move 5 hexes per turn.
[*]Each ship begins with a number of shield (if applicable) and hull points equal to its length in metres. How damage is resolved is entirely up to the writer, but a standard indicator of health must be used.
[*]Ships may fire at regular range at 5 hexes, at ‘long range’ at 10 hexes.
[*]The shipyards are resistant to damage and have 2500 shield and 2500 hull points.
[*]All regular SWRP rules must be followed.
[*]One character per writer.
[*]Moving from one battle to another requires a post leaving one battle and another in the new thread arriving. This may only be done once per writer. A writer may not move into a thread where they have another character.

Victory:
  • Each NPC escort or capital ship destroyed: Half its total length in metres, rounded up.
  • Each PC escort or capital ship destroyed: Its total length in metres.
  • Destroying a PC captained ship: Its total length in metres multiplied by 1.5.
  • Each ship moved off the battlefield on the opposite side: Half its total length in metres, rounded up.
  • Holding the shipyards: 10,000 points.
  • Destroying the shipyards: -5,000 points.

Rewards:
  • Destroying enemy faction capital ship: Class 1 Personal Reward.
  • Holding the shipyards: Class 2 Faction Reward.
  • Winning the battle (having the most points at the end): Class 3 Faction Reward.
  • Best and fairest: Class 2 Personal Reward.
  • Best Admiral: Class 2 Personal Reward.
Exact nature of the rewards to be disclosed at a later time.

Fleeting System

For this battle I will be testing (yet another) fleeting system for myself. This is not compulsory, mandated or demanded. It is a way for me to provide transparent and predictable reporting into damage for the NPC fleet. Since the droids are there to be target practice, this works well.

Each ship has a shield and hull rating. This starts at full strength. Shields recover at 10% per turn whether or not they are fired on, except if they are at 0, in which case they can only be restored by not being fired at for a turn.

Determining damage will be based on the firing ship’s number of capital guns. This number of capital guns, based on fire arc and range, is totalled. In addition the following modifiers are totalled.
  • Ion weapons: +100% damage vs shields.
  • Heavy weapons: +100% damage.
  • Range : -5% per hex vs capital ships, -10% per hex vs Escorts.
  • Heavy Warheads: Number x 10.
  • Warheads: Number x 2.
  • Bombers: Number x 10.
Additionally I will roll a D20 each time a capital ship sustains hull damage. On a 20 I will add an additional D20x5% to it. If this second roll is also a 20, the ship is automatically destroyed.

Not to be a sour sport but... this kind of defeats any point or usefulness towards battle meditation... also if ok I'd be up for joining.

Were can I access the rules on the hex locations and the like? Being new this sound increasingly awesome but also quite confusing as this is the first campaign I've seen on this site.

[member="Valiens Nantaris"], for clarification, when we submit our forces to you in the PM, should we list exact loadouts for our ships?

For example, a Katarr-class Frigate could carry 28 fighters/interceptors/bombers. For that example, would I say that it's carrying 28 generic fighters, or list specific models (like 28 XA-5 X-wings)?

We'll see how it goes. Seeing how there's very few people who can do this, I don't think it'll come into play much.

No, use the One Sith ships.
No one was making those ships even in the Legacy Era, let alone now.

As this battle will show, 800+ year old ships are terribly outdated, if not in numbers of guns, then in the technology behind them. It’d be like having HMS Dreadnought being used in combat today. Sure, it’s got lots of guns, but it’s completely outdated and obsolete.

That as maybe, but for this scenario I will insist on factory submitted capital ships. I will allow archaic escorts (frigates, corvettes and cruisers) if anyone really wants them, but no one is making ISD II’s anymore, so no ancient heavy cruisers, destroyers or battlecruisers.

This is a time for faction designs, and how they interact, to shine.

Imperial Remnant made them in the Legacy Era, Galactic Alliance made a few after, Sith Empire made them in this site's canon, One Sith are still making a few. I've got one, and I'm wanting to use an iconic, traditional vessel that reflects my character and his story. I don't use factory-made ships for a reason.

If I'm not permitted to use something directly from Star Wars on a Star Wars roleplaying board, I guess I won't be joining this storyline.

We have a Factory for a reason, times have changed. However, I leave it to your faction admins to decide on this. If you absolutely insist on having one, I will allow one of them if they allow it.

However one is all I’m going for.
 
Added details of my fleeting system which I am using for myself to the first post.

I am doing this so that I am transparent in how the NPC fleet receives damage. If you wish to use the same, you may but it is not compulsory, required or demanded at all in any way.
